Something I noticed on yours is there is a tamper-proof seal of some type placed over the motherboard case so it can't be opened without that seal being broken. Makes sense that yours is ripped. LOL. But isn't that a seal that is put on by a gaming commission representative when chips are changed out so they know if anybody else has been in there who shouldn't be? If that's true, you should mention it to folks also. If that's true of course
That is absolutely CORRECT! excellent observation! Yes! Those seals are recorded and put on by the commission so the boards can’t be tampered with without them being present. THANKS!
@@CowboySlots thanks that's good to know. I've got a little local casino just a couple blocks for me so I go there a lot and they know me pretty good so I'll stand around talking to them while they're clearing a paper jam or some other reason to be inside my machine. Now I'm going to say why is that tape down there broken. LOL PS, there sure isn't much inside the newer machines nowadays. I've got an early1980s Bally's $25 coin three line triple 7 with two progressive in my house and that thing is half mechanical and half circuit boards.. far as I can tell that chip is an 85%. Can't find a new one for it and it's not much fun at 85%. LOL
I had the opportunity to work with commission and the slots department at Hollywood Columbus for a few years and witnessed the machines being delivered. The semi trailers were locked with tamper proofs and the commission had to be present to witness the unlock process and check every machine. Another step to ensure nothing is changed during the shipping and delivery process. Great video! 👍
Next to having the Gaming Commissioner in the interview, I do not think ANYONE has actually shown the inside of a slot machine and HOW it is actually done. Brilliant work! I hope nothing but success for you and your channel! Thank you!
Hi Brantley. It was so interesting to see how a machine's odds are changed. It was interesting just to even see a machine open and see the guts of one. Love what u are sharing with everyone. I'm a fairly new person to utube. So when I found u, in the beginning, when u started, u caught my interest, right away. Now I make sure I watch all yr videos bec I trust u and are understanding what's involved with machines in all different ways. I'm so happy yr viewers are growing so fast and others feel the same as I, abt yr info. Looking forward to yr future videos. Thank you. 🤗
You are 100% correct. The percentage payout can be changed. I know this for an absolute fact. I knew someone who worked at a Casino for years and he explained this process to me. In Canada Casinos have techs on the floor shutting down machines all the time. What's interesting is that, when a machine is out of order it's generally for a few days or more. When that same machine is back in service the payouts are dismal.
QUESTION: How are the odds set and changed on an online slot? And, when you're playing a slot online is it a one-on-one playing experience or (like in the case of tournaments) are several people hitting the same online machine or software at the same time?
I think thw only part that may throw pepple off, is the term remote handpay reset. As if it can be done from another station. Can you please explain this?
Thanks for a great explanation of how they are set up and changed! I have heard the remote myth for years and always wondered if it was fact or fiction.
Great video! I have a S2000 with chip SG000362. Would I use KEY17 or KEY37? Also, are there any other chips I should own to maintain this at home unit?
really interesting indeed....there are new microcontrollers that a slot machine maker can add to the control module/board to interface with it remotely im sure possible at this day and age, but thats a secret sauce which we the public will never know, but anyways thanks for the ecducational video! never new slots had that much going on inside...
Thanks very much! However; a couple of years ago the techs at Wildhorse Casino probably did change odds right in front of me. They opened each of the machines, and told me it was something else. It had always been a winning machine until after that. Kind of a. Bummer!! Happy for your channel.
I have a question. There are 2 triple stars machines at my casino and one machine has the lowest denomination being $1 (highest being $5) and the other has the highest denomination being $1 (lowest being 25 cents). Would the machine with the highest denomination being $1 likely have better return to player percentage than the machine with the lowest denomination being $1?
I has watched dozens of video about how the RGN works, but I still confused. If each spin is independently and random, let say the RTP is 96%, how the RGN knows that need to pay 96%? Thanks in advance
Just want to say thank you for your tips on getting a hand pay… For the the third time in less than a month I have brought home profit, tonight 7/6/2022 I brought home $1500.00 profit! I went with $400.00!! Thank you for your information!!!
Honestly, the most surprising thing for me was to see just... how old the CPU on the motherboard on that machine is. While I understand that this is an older machine, it was still interesting to see
I just wish there were more videos to help those of us with a smaller bankroll. I went to the casino last night and lost quite a bit on that old school double diamond and the triple stars. I know the house has the advantage but I am tired of the machines being set so tight that you can't win even after so many people have played since Friday. Again, more videos for the smaller bankroll people would be greatly appreciated and if shown at a casino would be even better. Thanks for all that you do Cowboy Slots
Sorry to hear. It’s unfortunate that we can’t win all the time. I wish there was a sure way! Those machines are really good and low volatile, my advice would be to try another casino or just start off slow and work your way up. Appreciate you watching!
@Rod Turgid He has a channel showing people ways to better understand how the slots work SIR, That in itself is a help! I would be really stupid if I were to think that the player has the advantage and can win all the time. I would just like to better understand how to manage my bankroll, whether it is $100 to $500 or more. It is HELP if someone that worked with the slots can give you information that MAY HELP TO INCREASE the odds. Have a wonderful day SIR!!!!
@@CowboySlots I agree with the changing casinos for sure. In fact, I should have followed my first mind and driven to the casino a couple of hours away but as a woman of a mature age I prefer not to venture out on the highways alone late at night. I will plan a day trip for sure because even though I did not win the last time that I went to the casino that I like to go to, I can say I had a really good time and I did not complain about what I lost. However, at the local casino you rarely see anyone hitting anything and there were so many people complaining about not getting much play time. The machines are set very very tight and even though they refused to give me the RTP percentage a couple of employees did tell me not to say anything but that the casino has lost a lot of business due to the tight slots. So it is not me being a sore loser. When you gamble you expect to lose but you also would like to have a little fun in the process.
As an IT administrator, I always found it comical when ppl say there is some magic room with servers which can magically control machines. As for bingo games....since those aren't "regulated" in the same manner as commercial sites, I tend to stay away from those. Not saying they doing anything, just more of a "information" is out there with commercial compared to the commercial
Hey cowboy i live in New Hampshire and i cant find the odds on the slot machines at my local casino. Any idea where i can find this information ? I was was reading in my state there really not slot machine and something about charitable gambling.
Does this process apply to VGT or NOVA machines as well? I worked as a game tech installing these machines and overheard the main tech being told which games to load toothed machines and setting them hot, from a SERVER. Also, please explain how a machine goes from HOT paying like mad, payout, then go stone cold, if the 'odds' remain the same. That is confusing.
VGT games are not slot machines, they are bingo units. Your not playing slots but rather a group wide game of bingo on a server. The “slot” style unit is just there to give a visual of the bingo results. There is no such thing as a hot or cold machine. They naturally will swing throughout the course of their lifespan. The payback is theoretical over time (so example: over 10 years of play it will come out to 98%) has nothing to do with an individual play session.
@@CowboySlots if a casino has a New machine that pays out the ‘Grand’ jackpot, would it be reasonable to assume that it will NOT pay out a Grand Jackpot in the near future? Statistically, if it has a 98% payout over an extended period of time and it pays out a huge sum early on, it will take a lot of time to rebalance its payout percentage. Thus, that machine, or bank of machines, are going to operate at a much lower payout percentage for a period of time before it pays out another large amount?
I enjoy your channel and knowledge. I always hear that higher denoms have better payback. I’m sure that’s typical BUT a casino CAN HAVE A LOWER PAYBACK % for 2 cent denom, Nickel denom, 10 cent denom, is that correct ?? TIA
Yes this is possible. When it comes to the lower-mid denoms like 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, those can often times be a mixed grey area or be the same or equal to other odds near its value. Best to always avoid lower denoms in general and stick with the denoms that are clearly defined such as $1 $5 $25 + machines.
I have been at the casino when the money is being taken out of the machine. So my question is this: because the machine is opened to remove the box full of money and replace it with an empty box. Do the odds change after the machine is closed and ready to be played again?
no nothing on the machine changes at all. The boxes have to be emptied daily or sooner if they fill up fast. there are actually two doors on the slot machine. The main door and the belly door. When emptying the box, the main door that has access to the board cant be opened because the drop team doesn't have authorization to open that door and its locked with a key they dont have. the belly door opens to just the cash stacker. So the main access point is never opened or touched during the process. good question!
As you scrolled through the payout percentages, I noticed you only had a finite number of choices. They started at 98.02% and went down to 85.07%. Is it possible to set the machine at a different percentage than those 10 that are preset? For example, could this machine be set for 97.5%? Do all machines have only certain choices?
Good question! It is not possible. The numbers are set by the manufacturer and the casino can only choose from the options given as outlined by the law. This is another great observation that is a major blow to the theory that casinos can set whatever they want! Thanks for that great comment!
@@CowboySlotsReally? There are a few casinos here in Arizona on native land and I spend way too much time in them. I’ve always wondered this. Did you work in an Indian casino or a commercial casino, if you don’t mind me asking? I would do give an arm and a leg to be able to sit down with you and pick your brain lol.
On a bingo slot when the bingo card decides it has won what decides how much, slot or bingo card ? When you were working did the casinos set the slots at the same % in there casino, besides the difference in denominations. Some 1 cent set at 90% others 91% ?
Great video! I was wondering if you could do a video on changing game play on machines. For example: My local casinos have notoriously known "advantage play" machines such as "Ocean Magic" from IGT. They have the gameplay changed where the bubbles are 100% random instead of how how they were intended to play (they normally just go up thr screen on each spin). I hope I explained it well enough but I'd really like to know how they changed the game play
Its something I can look into :-) Advantage Play slots are relatively new and not too many casinos have them. Its something I will have to get an expert in on to really clarify and make sure we get all the right info!
@@CowboySlots He could be describing a class 2 or VLT machine that might take that element out. On a class 3 they would indeed continue with the bubbles from the previous spin. Just a thought.
Question - sorry if I missed this if you explained on another video. During a bonus, the odds significantly sway in your favor. So it seems to be able to happen "mid game" without having to swap out chips no? Or are bonuses just an extension of the same odds but are already "pre-determined" once a bonus is activated?
Thanks for your question! No, the odds do not change in a bonus game unless of course the game specifically states that the bonus has different effects. For example, on some games when you enter the bonus it removes the lowest paying symbols. Thus increasing the chances of a larger hit.
@@CowboySlots Thanks for the speedy response, oh and Happy 4th by the way! So are the bonuses pre-determined once they are activated? For example, I play Bally's 777 Double Jackpot gold and as soon as you activate the free spins bonus, the Double Double wilds appear immediately almost every time.
@@OldSchool808 good question. On some game bonuses are pre-determined and on some games they are not. I’m not too familiar with the game that you’re mentioning however any game that really involves free spins though those are not predetermined typically
Very informative videos. Thanks I used to have about 6 - 7 different casino within a 2 hour drive of my house I was never faithful to one casino - went to them all but during the pandemic I relocated to a small isolate town and I now have only 1 casino near me (about 10 minutes away) so now I am very loyal to the casino near me. QUESTION ONE: Do you see any downside to playing mostly at the same casino all the time? For example - the casino near me built a new fancy hotel during the pandemic and everyone tells me the casino used to be more generous but have tightened all the machines since they built the hotel because they need the money? Would this be true? QUESTIONS TWO: Do casino's, as a rule, buy or lease the Slot Machines they have?
Thanks for writing and watching! No, I don’t see any disadvantages to sticking with the same casino. I have my favorites and tend to gravitate towards them. As for the machines, there isn’t any law on lease vers buy. Most newer slots and themed based games are leased because it’s cheaper for them to do that. The casinos are free to buy or lease as their operations allow
So the higher the denomination the better the adds? So if I intend to play $3 per spin I should avoid the penny slot machine and seek one that says $1. Do I got this correct?
First of all, love your content! I find myself playing differently now, knowing better how these things actually work! It's interesting looking for those 'patterns' as the rng does its thing - very cool! But anyway, I was wondering if you might offer us some clarification about what you mentioned at ~ 9:05 (menu item 7.2.4 handpay) about setting handpay limits. Does that have any bearing on the odds of hitting a jackpot, such as limiting the number of large hits by increasing the number of smaller hits in order to achieve its payback percentage requirements (or vice versa)?
Good question. Handpay limits are typically set at $1200 to set off the “call attendant” to pay out by hand for taxes. However some casinos like to opt for a lesser amount to be considered a handpay and that’s what the limits are. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
All that setting allows is for the casino to set the threshold as to when the machine should lock up for an attendant. So, in most cases that would be $1199. Some casinos in Arizona set it lower, say around $600, even though you will not need to complete a W2G unless it’s $1200+ on a single hit.
@@CowboySlots Thanks for setting me straight on that. You have witnessed yet another example of the conspiratorial, paranoid mind of a deluded slot junkie, lol! If you've got a sec, check out my reply to Home Slots Fun. I was going to add that to this reply, but I didn't want to be redundant, plus I was too lazy :(
@@HomeSlots a single hit means I press spin, the reels do their thing, and that one screen pays 1200+, and that qualifies as a hand pay... That part makes sense to me. But what about bonus games? If you have 3 free spins and they're all 1000 dollars each for a total of 3000 for the bonus game, does the entire bonus game count as "one spin" or would this be a ticket you could just print out and take to the cage? That's something that's always confused me. Especially since I never play big enough to get those 😂
I regularly play slots at an Ohio racino. Why does it seem like the slots are "put to sleep" around 1am??? It never fails.... can't hardly hit anything past that time. This may be a dumb question, but does the time of day you play matter in any way??
Absolutely! If you go visit my website at www.ropethejackpot.com I have a buyers guide where you can check your states laws and directions on where to buy them
Except you didnt mention, they are changed on machines in the back room. Then, during the week, they change up the floorplan and use that opportunity to swap out the machines, effectively changing the odds.
How do you know this? It’s simply not true without the gaming commission. And they also don’t change machine locations on a weekly basis, although it does happen a few times a year.
Everything you just said is false. Simply put. You are free to Believe what you want but the “back room” doesn’t exist. And no, they don’t change up the floor plan.
@@deborahanderson4211 I'm afraid that's not true. They can change the floor plan a few times a year (it's very costly and time consuming), but it's mostly to make room for newer games or to give certain machines more visibility so they will get played more.
Guess everyone has noticed as popular slot machines get older casinos adjust the odds? Just not as frequent you might get a bonus , or bonus just doesn’t pay as well as in the past.
When playing slots, I observed slot techs open a slot machine and write this or that down then push what ever button then clean see the machine. How come ?
Anytime any slot machine is opened by anyone it has to be recorded in a log. There’s many reasons why machines get opened including replace paper, small maintenance items, cleaning, etc. Changing the odds is a lot more involved of a process and will require multiple people be present.
Are you sure these aren't networked?! My understanding is that slots have always (back to the 80s) communicated via 2-wire shared bus back to a controller to report all alarms and all jackpots to the control unit and associated line printer. It's part of security and validating wins. But, yes, no remote configuration features. Just reporting.
Most of the those machines seem to be the same machines I've seen in casinos, so the basics yes, the operator of the casino knows what they want number wise, so there's no sense in changing them, most casino accounting is done in averages, yes that machine might pay 2 or 3 big wins for a week but then the next few weeks nothing so the average over that time is the same
What about server based games and changing the odds remotely? Many casinos are moving towards this type of system. Sure it’s expensive but cuts down on staff and pays for itself over time.
Actually most casinos are not moving towards server-based gaming. As we can see in a court case in Nevada that was struck down as casinos do not want it for security vulnerability. The percentage of server-based games in the United States is actually very small and it is not common. Even with those small amount of server-based casinos, the regulations are actually more strict on them to where they cannot just change the odds anytime they want to and they had to go through a lengthy process to do it.
"And ya might get out before the devil even knows ur there!" Thank you for the amazing content & getting to the meat & potatoes of what we all really want & need to know. However, ppl who believe in ghost find it entertaining to do so & you cannot reason with them bc they don't want to b reasoned with they want to have proof they are right there is a difference. For me I have been on both sides of the coin in a few ways & know what you are saying is true. The bf a high roller won $160k in Tunica 20 yrs ago & I got a free voucher I bought black hills gold set with in gift shop while they dismantled the machine to check it all out before paying him out & we had to wait on gaming commission to come do so. He runs an average of 33-35 hand pays per session & I've seen as many machine guts as you have. I also did some hosting of junkets for CSI & my guys (25 slot sluts they are lol) & I've gamed myself for 23 yrs. Plus the bf owns steak in a casino based on bingo in north AL. You can lead the children to the water but you can't make them drink it over the coolaid.
In another video u mentioned the odds of a lower denomination weren't as tight as a higher denomination machine. Now your saying a lower denomination is tighter. Or did you mean the overall payout of a machine, (in a prior video), meaning the lower payout isn't as tight as a higher payout machine? So if I'm playing a lower overall payout machine, play the higher denomination if multiple? Hope that made sense! Thank you!
I think you may be confusing one video where I discussed higher versions lower payables mixed in with that. Lower denoms will always have worse odds than higher denoms, but you also have to take the game time into factor and volatility as well which can be confusing at times. In this video using my own machines I had all the denominations set to be equally the same, but in a casino setting this wouldn't be the case. There are a lot of variables with slots so its easy to mix some of them up. I appreciate your question!
no, that is not possible. you can only disable a denomination in which case that choice would not be able to be selected by a player on that machine. You cannot disable a payback percentage, the game has to have one in order to play.
If machines aren’t connected, why is it that every machine is currently down from one second to another at Excalibur? They answered „the system is down“
At what point does the machine audits itself. If the odds are set at 98% payouts and hasn't met that amount, will and when does it make the correction?
Yes, this is legal as long as it’s above the legally regulated minimum. You also have to make sure the games and denoms are the exact same when comparing.
@@CowboySlots yes the same game I noticed in Reno the 4 card keno on a 7 spot payout is 7,000 coins and in Elko NV the same game 7 spot payout was 800 coins. I always check now for the payouts before I play.
Actually every casino that I have worked at and most casinos in the industry, the odds never get changed. The machines always make a profit so there is no need to constantly be changing them. Majority of the time, once the odds are set, they are set, and thats it. They rarely get touched after that unless a law changes.
They have better odds of paying out on weekends and days/times when it’s more crowded. Each casino is ran by its own gaming operators and owners, so they don’t all adjust their slot machines payout schedules the same way, or at the same times. But generally, you’ll have much better odds playing slots on weekends. Don’t ever play them on weekdays or any time it’s dead inside without a crowd. Casinos love paying out to the weekend crowd, not the weekday/business hours crowd who typically has less money.
Another slot channel swears the new modern way of changing odds is they are all connected to a central control server in some secret back room somewhere within the casino and only the higher up management have access to it which the floor employees cannot touch. Therefore making it possible to change odds remotely whenever it's convenient for them!?
That information is false. The information other channels are providing is why I did this. You can also check out the interview I did with the gaming commission just last week on my page.
That's good Ole professor slots right that guys a joke just after your money good thing for honest people Like this keep up great work we appreciate you
Hey cowboy, I have often heard and even said that people who have higher based players rewards cards hit more often than the beginning players reward card...is this true or a myth?
That is a myth but let’s break down why. First, how does one get a high status? By playing ALOT and playing large amounts. So it’s not the card or status why it seems they win more…. It’s because they are betting higher and more often. The more money and time you have invested into the games the more likely you are to statistically hit something.
@@CowboySlots that makes sense... I'm actually getting a lot of good information from your channel... I live in North Carolina and they have 3 casinos here... Harrah's Cherokee, Valley River and the recently opened Two Kings. Thought of using your slot picking tips this weekend
I am sure you have great insight in how things use to be. But if everything is done manually why the big casinos spent the money in a super expensive central server update ?.
This is exactly how it’s done today. The servers do not control the odds of a machine period. They are there for analytics and player tracking and that is all. You can go ask any expert that actually works there and it’s been covered in depth in our interview with the gaming commissioner directly. So what you are hearing about a server controlling machines is simply false no matter how it’s spun. You are always free to believe what you want but the experts have made this clear multiple times and the laws also won’t allow it. Class 2 casinos can have central servers but they make up a very small percent of casinos in the country.
That is a separate system. During my interview with the commission on this channel he did a great job of explaining the two. Basically it just relays info but has no editable connection with the machine systems.
Can the machine odds be changed to to win more at certain times of the day? I hope not then it wouldn't matter what time of the day to play a machine. My answer is in another video he made. Great videos sir
I was wondering about that also. Can the time of the day be changed on percentages. If not then it doesn't matter what time of the day a machine is played
Those are old machines in the video. Casinos have lots of money. Why would they not be using the latest technology? Everything is wireless these days. How are slots any different?
Slots are not wireless. Even with the "Newest Technology" the logic portion of the game (Odds and game settings) are jailed off from outside intervention. Even the newest games that are server connected still require that a person open the door, physically be present, and insert a secure key (Which only gaming commission has, the casino does not) to accept any pushed changes. So while these may be "older games" the process is still the exact same.
So I understand it's a lengthy process in the old machines, but what makes the new machines any different from the new ones? The new ones, especially the really large ones just seem fishy, I don't want to chalk it up to superstition, would you happen to know someone who has one that can run us through how one of those new ones work?
Marc has done several demonstrations on his channel Home Slots Fun. Newer slots still have to have a physical key and go through the same process. Actually, majority of casinos never change the odds at all. Once they are on the floor they are done and set up.
Hey Nic! Yes, it’s a much quicker process for newer machines, but it doesn’t mean they can bypass the procedures and commission. I did a video showing the difference between doing this on an older and newer machine here: Can Casinos Change Payback % Remotely? Here's How They Actually Do It! th-cam.com/video/iBZcekbkXZg/w-d-xo.html
I see you were able to change the odds per denomination. So for that machine, say 5 cent game, it doesnt matter if one placed a 1 credit per line bet compared to a 20 credit per line bet, the odds would still be the same? Also if that's the case playing 1 cent 5 credits per line, typically would be a lot worse than playing 5 cent 1 credit per line because the odds are typically worse for the 1 cent game?
That’s correct. The machine does not recognize between levels of bets within a denomination so when you are choosing a machine, one of the bigger factors to consider is the denomination of it. So if you had a multi denomination penny machine, you would have better luck playing less credits on the five cent choice as opposed to more credits on the penny choice
If slots are truly random as argued by the governing bodies, explain to me how RTP is even a thing? Also, digital slots, online slots etc could surely be more easily manipulated whereby you have a profile they could turn hot or cold depending on patters and investment etc. I noticed I won hot games quick after signing upto various online casinos then everyone of them went cold on follow up games. Could be coincidence, but I go back to asking how RTP is even a thing they can control/guarantee if slots are supposedly entirely random.
It is entirely random, but your odds aren’t random. If someone had two buckets and each of them had 1000 marbles inside of it. If you reach inside and grab a white marble, you win nothing. But if you draw a black marble, you win x amount of dollars (each black marble is worth its own amount). One of the buckets has 850 white marbles and 150 black marbles. The other bucket has 960 white marbles and only 40 black marbles. Regardless of which bucket you reach into, the outcome is still random and not predetermined by its owner.
No, but you may be doing well on a 777 machine for a week then the next week they change the odds. You then play the machine and lose all of your money!
Gaming commission. There are several safe guards in place: 1, there is a security seal with a number that is placed over the chip or access door that on the gaming commissioners can place on and must be untouched and unbroken. These get checked regularly. 2. Only the gaming commission holds the logic key and chips. the casinos do not have these on hand. If the casino wanted or needed to make a change they would have to request the keys and even then the commission representative has to stay with the keys through the whole process (they dont just hand them over)
I don't know if they could do it even if they wanted to. You can't just make your own, say, Playstation 5 game or software and get it to run without Sony approving it. I'd imagine it would be the same for slots.
For Nevada, the NGC makes surprise spot inspections to make sure, the software and hardware for a given machine is the same as what the paperwork for the property says it is
So you are claiming that new slot machines can’t be controlled on a LAN or remotely controlled at all? What is the Ethernet cable inside for then? I’ve watched plenty of machines get worked on and I happen to know what I’m looking at. The machines are connected to Ethernet cables for communication, what are they communicating is the question? Is it the law for the games odds to be controlled locally at the game via a chip like you are showing here? Thanks for the vids, great stuff!!
machines usually have a 3rd party board that does mostly one way communications with the machine, usually to grab meters , process cashouts and handle player tracking , without being in a setup mode only thing being sent to the machine is the remote handpay clear and electronic funds like promo credits

But isn't that a seal that is put on by a gaming commission representative when chips are changed out so they know if anybody else has been in there who shouldn't be? Next to having the Gaming Commissioner in the interview, I do not think ANYONE has actually shown the inside of a slot machine and HOW it is actually done.
Brilliant work! I hope nothing but success for you and your channel! Thank you!
Thank you! I will continue to bring you guys a lot more! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for taking the time to show us all that! Really really helps seeing it
QUESTION: How are the odds set and changed on an online slot? And, when you're playing a slot online is it a one-on-one playing experience or (like in the case of tournaments) are several people hitting the same online machine or software at the same time?
People stated that a lot of denominations suddenly increased just before the Formula 1 Race in Vegas.
This was very educational. It appears to be quite a process to change the odds on a slot machine. Thank You for showing how it is done!!!
Glad it was helpful!
I think thw only part that may throw pepple off, is the term remote handpay reset. As if it can be done from another station. Can you please explain this?
Very informative. Thanks for such a great channel!
Thanks for a great explanation of how they are set up and changed! I have heard the remote myth for years and always wondered if it was fact or fiction.
It’s a fact. Those are old machines. The new ones have the latest technology. Everything is wireless these days. Why would slots not be
The odds of winning isn't the issue..its...am I going to get up and go home after I'm ahead or even...😁
Great video! I have a S2000 with chip SG000362. Would I use KEY17 or KEY37? Also, are there any other chips I should own to maintain this at home unit?
Thank you for all the inside tips, very interesting to know and keep in mind when gambling 😊.
Thanks for all your information, wish you reach a millón subscribers ,from Minnesota
really interesting indeed....there are new microcontrollers that a slot machine maker can add to the control module/board to interface with it remotely im sure possible at this day and age, but thats a secret sauce which we the public will never know, but anyways thanks for the ecducational video! never new slots had that much going on inside...
Thanks very much! However; a couple of years ago the techs at Wildhorse Casino probably did change odds right in front of me. They opened each of the machines, and told me it was something else. It had always been a winning machine until after that. Kind of a. Bummer!! Happy for your channel.
Great insight.. yet another great video from Cowboy.
Check out a video we did on this: ropethejackpot.com/howslotswork
Thanks for sharing facts and busting the rumors
Just want to say thank you for your tips on getting a hand pay…
For the the third time in less than a month I have brought home profit, tonight 7/6/2022 I brought home $1500.00 profit! I went with $400.00!! Thank you for your information!!!
What tip was that?
Also what is the red button for? And how do i set my 3 wheels to make sure they are aligned?
Hey thank you as well for going through this process. Tom from California 👍
Sir, what is "GAME" means in GAME 1, GAME 2 GAME 3 per denom?
The game means the setting for the payback percentage. By changing the game your changing the paytable in which the RNG has options to pull from.
@@CowboySlots Thank you sir 🙏
Honestly, the most surprising thing for me was to see just... how old the CPU on the motherboard on that machine is. While I understand that this is an older machine, it was still interesting to see
I have a general question... what is normal tip for drink servers. Also what do you tip if you hit a hand pay?
@Rod Turgid HELP as in teach us how to play smarter with a smaller bankroll SIR. You have a wonderful day!
What % setting do you tbink Las Vegas uses on average?
I MEAN TO PLAY THEM SIDE BY SIDE WITH ODDS SET APART AS FAR AS POSSIBLE MAKE SENSE? THANKS
Thus, that machine, or bank of machines, are going to operate at a much lower payout percentage for a period of time before it pays out another large amount?
new IGT like the A20s can be remotely setup but it's still an involved process which requires a keychip and can't be done on the fly
With all do respect I didn’t find that long or difficult at all. You did it in like 3 mins.😂
Do you know how the slot machines are regulated on cruise lines that have ports in the US?
As you scrolled through the payout percentages, I noticed you only had a finite number of choices. They started at 98.02% and went down to 85.07%. Is it possible to set the machine at a different percentage than those 10 that are preset? For example, could this machine be set for 97.5%? Do all machines have only certain choices?
Good question! It is not possible. The numbers are set by the manufacturer and the casino can only choose from the options given as outlined by the law. This is another great observation that is a major blow to the theory that casinos can set whatever they want! Thanks for that great comment!
Is this the some process for the skill slot machines in gas stations?
I think that it should be pointed out that indian casinos have no rules/regulations....none...
They actually have a lot more. Way more than non-tribal. So your assumption is very false
Bingo slots work a little different. Check out my video library to learn more how those games work :-) Thanks for watching!
Great explanation!! Thank you!
Thanks
I used to have about 6 - 7 different casino within a 2 hour drive of my house I was never faithful to one casino - went to them all but during the pandemic I relocated to a small isolate town and I now have only 1 casino near me (about 10 minutes away) so now I am very loyal to the casino near me.
I'm so glad that I became a member
Thank you!
Always great to watch you...
So the higher the denomination the better the adds? So if I intend to play $3 per spin I should avoid the penny slot machine and seek one that says $1. Do I got this correct?
Help i can not get my 3 wheel slot machine to pay out i have it set on 6' its a pachislo?
Time of day does not matter. Check out my video library for a detailed video on that topic 🤠 thanks for watching!
How does this apply for online casinos? Is it highly secret, or is it a rule that higher and higher stakes should give better and better odds?
How can a person buy a slot machine for home use similar to the one's in your videos and how much are they ? Thanks for all your info!
Absolutely! If you go visit my website at www.ropethejackpot.com I have a buyers guide where you can check your states laws and directions on where to buy them

How to insert back a sensor?
Except you didnt mention, they are changed on machines in the back room. Then, during the week, they change up the floorplan and use that opportunity to swap out the machines, effectively changing the odds.
How do you know this? It’s simply not true without the gaming commission. And they also don’t change machine locations on a weekly basis, although it does happen a few times a year.
Everything you just said is false. Simply put. You are free to Believe what you want but the “back room” doesn’t exist. And no, they don’t change up the floor plan.
I was told by the floor attendant that they do change the floor plan when a machine hits a jackpot
Thank you
What keeps tribal casinos honest if they don’t report to state gaming commission? Example Coushatta in Kinder,LA
In 1988 the United States passed the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act which outlines how tribal game must be run.
I was wondering does it mean newer Mechine have the same thing as well ?
Does all of these statement apply to class 2 or bingo slot??
No. See our latest episode on Bingo based games
Thank you very much for the info!
My pleasure!
Great video, thanks.
Does this hold true in cruise ship casinos which are unregulated?
I'm thinking you need a jackpot so you can buy yourself some shoes!!! Lol. Thank you for the myth busting videos. Most helpful. 😂
What a cool video. Why would a casino "disable" the pay out percentage? Does that mean you play, and it never has a line hit?
no, that is not possible. you can only disable a denomination in which case that choice would not be able to be selected by a player on that machine. You cannot disable a payback percentage, the game has to have one in order to play.
If machines aren’t connected, why is it that every machine is currently down from one second to another at Excalibur? They answered „the system is down“
We put out a video on the MGM issue yesterday

Can casinos in other countries that are not regulated set payouts to 0?
At what point does the machine audits itself. If the odds are set at 98% payouts and hasn't met that amount, will and when does it make the correction?
Please do a video on class 2 slots like they have in kentucky
nice well done ...thx
I noticed on Game King Keno machine that the payouts were different at different casino's and even within the same casino. Is this illegal?
Yes, this is legal as long as it’s above the legally regulated minimum. You also have to make sure the games and denoms are the exact same when comparing.
@@CowboySlots yes the same game I noticed in Reno the 4 card keno on a 7 spot payout is 7,000 coins and in Elko NV the same game 7 spot payout was 800 coins. I always check now for the payouts before I play.

How often do the odds get changed? How many of a casinos slots are changed at a particular time?
Actually every casino that I have worked at and most casinos in the industry, the odds never get changed. The machines always make a profit so there is no need to constantly be changing them. Majority of the time, once the odds are set, they are set, and thats it. They rarely get touched after that unless a law changes.
under what circumstances would they change the odds of a machine?
Going to start out on the 25¢ denom 2 credit and see what happens.
If the machines are not connected remotely how do the slot attendants know when you hit a jackpot
That is a separate system. During my interview with the commission on this channel he did a great job of explaining the two. Basically it just relays info but has no editable connection with the machine systems.
What about Server Based Gaming SBG?
Can the machine odds be changed to to win more at certain times of the day? I hope not then it wouldn't matter what time of the day to play a machine. My answer is in another video he made. Great videos sir
No this is not possible on any slot machine whatsoever and is a myth. Thanks for the question!
I noticed when I was on a slot for 2 hours hitting bonuses , once it hit 12am , no more bonuses or large wins.
So while these may be "older games" the process is still the exact same.
also new machines are expensive and older ones that have been around for a couple of decades are still popular so why fix what isn't broken?
what is the lowest % the casinos can set? What is the average % that the casino use?
That is all determined by your state or tribe. Each have different rules when it comes to how low a percentage can be.
I once heard that odds differ on weekends from weekdays. If that is true, how is that accomplished with hundreds of slots on the floor?
That’s false
@@CowboySlots thank you for replying 👍
Who checks to see that the correct computer chip is in the machine? What if the casino replaces it with their own?
😂😂😂Thank you for the information. I stayed away from casino because all the myths, misinformation. I’m a scientist mind person and everything for my is either a biological or chemical function, a mathematical method or a physics law. Now I’m more comfortable having some entertainment in the casino because it’s all numbers.😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉 random numbers
Despite your showing this difficulty changing odds, there are still going to be deniers out there - tnx vid.
first!🎉🎉🎉
