    Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes were the greatest r&b group off all time and the most important group of the 70's.

    When Teddy introduces these talented guys with their zodiac signs--it reminds me of the some Float On by the Floaters...

      Actually Harold was jealous of Teddy getting the lead of singing which cause him to continue his solo career with PIR into Elektra.

    Teddy Pendergrass was the greatest singer ever before that horrific car crash that ruined his career in 1982. He was just on the verge of superstardom when it was all taken away from him. All the power he was known for went out of his incredible singing. He was never the same after that.

    Spotlight on Teddy, the man you who carried the group.
    On the periphery, Harold making unnecessary interjections; desperate to get attention on himself.
    As Harold becomes more and more peripheral, he pretends to be engaged with audience members to the side.

    • @carltonbanks5470
      @carltonbanks5470 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He stepped aside an let Teddy carry the solos on many hit songs. Harold could sing damn well himself so he didnt have to do that. The man was greedy with the money but not jealous.

    • @ragingbull3157
      @ragingbull3157 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carltonbanks5470I beg to differ with you. There was a documentary on Showtime that shed a little light on their professional relationship. Although Harold did want Teddy in the group it was the songwriting team of Gamble & Huff that decided to move singing duties primarily to Teddy instead of sharing it with Harold. And Harold was non to happy bout that thus the name change later ( Harold Melvin& the Blue Notes "featuring Teddy Pendergrass")

      @@ragingbull3157 then that was Harold Melvin's fault then, I KNOW he didn't think that he was the better singer, there was a reason why Gamble and huff were producers and Harold Melvin wasn't, sounds more to me like Harold Melvin had to eat a slice of humble pie

    Teddy saying “cut from my new LP” sort of set the tone of what TP was thinking as opposed to giving props to the group efforts (3:10). Sad, cause Bernard, Larry, Lloyd and Sharon Paige toiled day and night to maintain vocal perfectionism on the records as much as Teddy. I like Teddy, but egoism slipped in right there.
