Very excellent instructions. Clearly explained without unnecessary fanfare. Just what I needed.

Thank You! Only one other prson described this so I could follow it and you did even better than her presentation. Couldn't get backto her site and found you. Most people dragged on a lot, pontificated some, didn't speak up ( OK so... I'm rather hard of hearing but I couldn't even turn up the volume enough), and some went so fast I couldn't follow their moves and kept falling asleep...OK at 71 that happens a bit too easily, too. But point is, this is about the 7th presentation and " By George...or Hooty, I THINK I'VE GOT IT! . I'll have to be checking in to see what else I can learn from you. Have a great day!! Liz

dude I do not get why you don't have more likes... !! This tutorial is awesome.. I have the old Jasc 8 and 9 on my pc's . As well as a couple of the Corel Versions. They each offer different wonderful things for me. I am so so hoping you have a way of making a tutorial to make a "Watermark" i have one i made years ago.. And want to add something to it.. And can't for the life of me remember cut out and shadow .. but i can't get it right...I probably have the tutorial saved somewhere on a disc... i have no doubt

Thanks Hooty! I always wondered what leading, tracking, offset and reverse contour did. This helps a lot.

I realy like your explanations. I am having trouble with knowing how to access some of my tools at times. One major example are the convert to path and convert text to curves. What is the difference between these two? Mostly though since with your tutorial is using convert to path I need to know why it is in bold

Hello Elizabeth. Glad you liked the video tutorial that I mad back in 2007. I do not teach anymore. Sorry. You have so many questions you do need to find someone teaching courses in whatever version of PSP you are using. I know it can be frustrating getting started. Again, sorry. That has been ages ago.

@@doyleallen3762 Thanks so much Hooty for getting back to me. I appreciate that, it is so much better than being left hanging and wondering what's going on. I tried to contact Corell numbers of times, in fact probably about 4 times and the people in the front office, or the front runners I should say, are very courteous and try to be very helpful and they take all my information and then they precede to tell me that they need to refer me to a technician, understandable, so they set me up with a reference number and they say that the technician will be contacting me soon but I don't know what their soon means because I've waited 2-4 weeks and never heard anything from anyone and then I'll wait a month or so and I'll try again and I'll still be waiting weeks and still no response from them so I would think that they would have better pride in their product and be able to get back to you a little bit quicker than they do… as for me that's never. so I'm going to try other avenues of um getting my information. I refuse to give up! I will figure it out somehow but everything I do keeps getting thwarted because I can't find the right venues and buttons to push on the corral program. whatever people suggest part of it seems to be missing in my program so I can't continue on with things. Don't know if its me or the program probably a combination of both but I'd like to get some kind of direction somehow. I appreciate your help in the past and I hope Your endeavors to future knowledge and experimentation will be Pleasant and Remarkable!

Thanks, I was going nuts trying to remember how to do this! Anyone else doing this remember to create your Text as a VECTOR, I forgot and spent ages trying to figure out why my text only showed with a wiggly outline!

Hi, Hooty. Great videos but I can’t find my letter editing box, and 70% of times can’t find the fix to path option when using my pen tool to reverse path and reverse contour at bottom of my circles. I got it once, more by happenstance, but it disappeared after a minute before I finished. I have spent twenty or more hours trying to replicate the reverse contour application. The few times I do seem to fall through on the different steps I don't know how to enter it or finish it so it records the changes and flips my wording in the right direction. Fallen asleep at my computer many, many times trying to learn how to do this. I must be doing something wrong I don't know what because I just can't find all the right tools that I'm told to use. Please oh please help me I'm a very determined 71 year old lady I'm not getting younger trying to learn this and I've got so many other things to learn and do. help! I do woodworking carving a lot relief and chip carving and a lot of um acrylic and colored pencil painting of Tigers and animals and flowers and things in the box is the keepsake boxes that I make and signs. I use Paint shop pro a lot when I do my designing and when I make the templates of the designs that I like so I can repeat them at accurately in the future. Would it help if I could send a picture of what I am trying to design And how would I send that? Thanks for your consideration!! Liz

When you place text on or inside a circle, the lettering becomes distorted. You can see it best on the H. On the outside of the circle the base of the H is narrower than the top. On the Inside it is wider. Is there any way to do this while keeping the proper proportion of the lettering or is this a side effect of the software?

Good Question. You could try a couple things, one would be to make a 2nd layer and do the top again, then resize it and re-position it under the outside text. The reason for the different in this Video is actually to line up nicely with the top text we have a smaller area to work with inside the circle, compared to the larger space outside the circle.
Depending on the size of the circle, the larger the better quality and also the type of font you use would also affect the appearance. I hope this helps you. ;)

Doyle, I did not realize that part of the text bar in the later versions is obscured and must be exposed by clicking on one of those triangle blocks. The checkbox for warped text is indeed still there. When unchecked, the lettering will be undistorted.

Very good tutorial, easy to follow along for the novice; but how do we make the circle invisible and just keep the text?

I obviously need a layers tutorial from reading the other comments after posting the above comment.

To close out a video, Esc key to go back to normal screen size, then click, space bar will pause the video, click the X in the upper right of your screen to close out the whole page/video.

    i have a question.
    I use psp10
    which is alike to psp9.
well im doing what you're doing for the text to
    curve like a cirle..but
if i do it on a picture like for example..
    a picture of Jessica Simpson
and I do this tutorial with curved text how do i get the circle outline to disappear?
    get me?

Open up your layer for your circle shape after adding the text in your layers pallet. Turn off the layer by left clicking on the little icon on the left side of that particular sub- layer that has the circle on it and it will not show.

Here's how I do it........After you get your text the way you want it, do not convert to raster yet. Look at your layer palette and you'll see that it says "vector" on that layer of text and to the left of it you should see a +. Click on that + and you'll see the word "ellipse". Close that by x-ing it out on the eye. Now go back and convert to raster layer. There ya go! Probably the same way as Doyle does it. LOL
