I think the style of dress in this video is actually from a later period - for the man especially
The costumes are the type of clothes of the 18th century, but the late part of the century
Thank you for posting this! Is there a recording of the complete performance? I would like to study the dances and these dancers' styles.
Contact Linda Tomko at UC Riverside.

Ennyi bárgyú szökdécselést! Röhejes és mesterkélt,brrr!
I'm not sure what that means. Can you translate into English?
Are there videos of the complete dances?
Sorry for the late reply! Didn't see this until now. But alas, no, just these. Linda Tomko has the uncut originals, but I don't think she planned to make it public.
Dances from the reign of Louis 16..Tanya Hanna.. Sleeping Beauty..Sims dance with Louis 16.. prescription..the brothers Grimm..🧙♀️💤💤👀
Sorry you didn't like it. That's the music and dance they did in the 18th century.
Is the full recording available?
Just what's on youtube, but we do have a 2-cd set of Marais dances.
@@MusicaPacifica Thank you! I will look into that, though I was also hoping for more footage of the dancers. Thank you for your music!
Who are the choreographers/publication dates for each dance so I could locate the dance notation? Thank you?
That's not really my area of expertise, but if you email me at judy@musicapacifica.org, I will forward your questions to Linda Tomko, who was in charge of the choreography and dancers.
What is the title of the first music. I recognize this is the music when Louis XIV start to get sick of gangrene on "l'Allee du roi" movie.
Sorry for the late reply! It's the Ouverture from the 8th Concert Royal of François Couperin.
@@judylinsenberg1783 super merci. Je cherchais desesperement ce titre.
@@manicamptrimalet184 My pleasure!
You've got to be pretty light on your feet. Maybe I won't try these.
Good idea, but the men do not wear the greatcoat nor the woman more formal dress. There is no pavane nor galliard, regular court dances. Please amplify and perfect this well-conceived presentation. Compliments.
+FRAGIORGIO1 These are Baroque dances, not Renaissance, so no pavanes or galliards.

But in the early reign of Louis XIV there were still those dances. Louis helped push the Baroque era further in his long reign.
@@FRAGIORGIO1 These dances were from a specific manuscript from 1713.
@@MusicaPacifica --Thank you for that information. Louis XIV had a long reign !
When France was France.
Is this really the dance from the court of Louis XIV? Look more as popular paysan dances ...
This is how Louis XIV dance in his court, he loved dance
A study by Margaret Daniels and C. Schulndt in the 1980s showed that some court dances had the same form of partner interchange as some country dances. They did not arrive at a transmission vector to explain the similarities, but it's true that some figures were similar.
beautiful music huh? when you arrive in the 20th century, msg me- I'll have you meet Page, Plant Jones and Bonham. now THAT IS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.
Pearl Blake Lmfao! I love classical music, however this is by far one of the most hilarious comments I have ever read! It was too good not to comment! Thank you, for the laugh! I'm going to listen to some Zeppelin right now, because of this comment!
