🚌 Just a little helpful tip - I’ve been full-time rv’ing for 20 yrs, randomly boondocking...to keep plenty of liquids in your black 💦 tank for adequate flushing simply pour your soapy dishwashing & rinsing 💦 down your 🚽 so as to avoid any yukkie 💩unnecessary accumulation from clinging to the walls. While camping in 🥶 climates one can also pour into both grey & black tanks a bottle of 🚗 windshield wiper fluid to avoid any freezing 🥶 of low level liquids. This will keep the waste 💦 etc slushy therefore the ability to dump whenever necessary. Happy travels 🧳 to y’all...☃️
Here is a helpful black tank tip. If you have a black tank flush connection just hook it up to the water supply (separate water hose) fill the black tank up with water until full then drain. I usually do this twice! Once your sure the black tank is empty, fill the toliet up with water and put 1 cap full of calgon water softener mix with toliet brush and flush. Fill toliet up again and put 1/2 cup of dawn dish soap. Mix and flush. Fill the toliet with water once more and flush. Both the softwater additive and dawn will breakdown everything and best of all no smell (unless the tank is full). I seen this on a youtube video...works very well and inexpensive...enjoy....
It was cool watching this episode because we have a vacation home 27 miles north of Blue Ridge in Blairsville and we frequent Blue Ridge for some of those same eating establishments. Can't wait to get back up there.
@@EatSeeRV Eat See RV Lake Blue Ridge is pretty small but if you go Northeast 27 miles to Blairsville you have lake Nottely which is very large with some great places to go. A great little fresh seafood place for seafood sandwiches and platters is less than a mile towards Murphy NC on the left hand side called Mike's seafood. Also just 4-5 miles south on the righthand side of highway 129 from Blairsville you have Pappy's which has several little shops but also there is Granddaddy Mimms moonshine distillery and museum then another 8-9 miles on the right is Vogel state park with camping and just a just a hair farther 1.1 miles on the left you have Helton Creek falls where you can hike down to the falls then get off the end of the boardwalk and swim beneath the falls. If your lucky and are the only ones there you can even skinny dip. On your way to Vogel State Park on the left hand side is a great little BBQ spot called Jim's Smokin Que. (Check hours of operation)
Oh yeah all the locals we met were super welcoming! Everyone was telling us that what we experienced was a unusually early freeze for the area. Brrrr! - Dennis ✌️
Good video. Shows it how it is for people who have never RVd before. You don't have to keep a lot of water in your black tank IF you use enzyme chemicals in it to break down the waste. Been doing this for more than 50 years, so regular tank dumping and sanitizing is a must. Water flows into your black tank normally in addition to the fresh water that you add when cleaning, so sludge won't form as long as you clean regularly. As for "cold", buy a little cube heater to balance the internal temp and wrap your pipes with aluminum insulation. Leave your water running at a trickle and pipes won't freeze.
@@EatSeeRV No problem. I'm here on YT because I have a lot to share and feel I can make RVing better for people just like you. You learn a lot of tricks over 50 years!!
You're in our neck of the woods. We are up near Blue Ridge all the time. Get out of that RV and do a little hiking. :-) We boondocked at the Cracker Barrel in Asheville. Pretty nice. Cool vid, now we're hungry. LOL
No, if you don't have "enough" waste in the black tank, then simply add water; go on a drive and let it splash around, then dump it. Letting it sit a while with bio-active additives that break everything up also goes a long way to turning the solids into liquid.
We love the Oxygenics too! To save even more water, we place a bucket in the shower when we first turn on the water waiting for it to get warm. We can then use that water for something else...plus it saves space in the gray tank!
We did the total opposite. We got rid of our class c sprinter and went to a 38 foot fifth wheel. I must say that black tank connection point on your rig is in an awful location. You would think they would have engineered that better. Safe travels!
Haha! True, we said the same thing when we saw it. Congrats on your new rig. Glad you found what works for you. It's amazing how different RVing can look for everyone. - Liz
advise, put in aqua kem in black holding tank and 10lb bag of ice, drive to next over night stay and DUMP the black tank, it will be all fresh and clean.....

When it is freezing outside, how do you keep water and water lines from freezing. I heard most class b and b+ are not 4 seasons RV? My friends water lines bursted.
It was only for a few nights. We have heaters and our waterlines are inside. Far colder temps for extended periods of time can be at risk for bursting but this weather wasn't a concern for us. Sorry to hear yours burst! Do you have a travel trailer or fifth wheel? - Liz
Even if you think you'll never make yogurt in your instant pot you should do it just once because you'll be amazed at how ridiculously easy it is You think it's easy doing your eggs yogurt is just as easy. Pour a half gallon of milk into your pot press the yogurt button until it says boil Put the lid on and when it's done boiling it will beep Take the little off let the milk cool off until it feels just like slightly warm bath water It should be around 104 to 110 degrees when your milk is ready whisk in about a third of a cup of plain yogurt from the store or your farmer's market. Pour your inoculated milk into whatever size canning jars you prefer Put the lids on and place them back into your instant pot with at least a couple inches of slightly warm water put the lid on and pressed the yogurt button again adjusting the time to at least eight hours I prefer to do 14 When your yogurt is done your instant pot will beep Now all you have to do is refrigerate until they're cold and set. So the whole process is boil mix and let it sit. And don't forget to save a half cup to inoculate your next batch!
You probably already know , but drain your black and then chase it with the gray! Get yourself a hydro flush adapter for the black tank it works great . Take Care Be Safe !!!
Thanks for the "solid" advice! We hope not to be using the black tank much longer. Just depends on how soon we can get another composting toilet. - Dennis ✌️
I put a bucket of water with Dawn 1/4 cup in black tank while driving down the road. And all toilet paper in a small dedicated trash bag. We use the scooter whenever possible instead of trying to park the rv when we go into downtown areas! We definitely have to be creative when parking in town with the class c. Or large open parking lot like most breweries would have. Otherwise, if we know we are going to be out for a long day in town we will ride share with uber or lyft. Hope this helps! - Dennis ✌️
