It was bad in the sense that you can tell they had too many characters to balance out. Then the villains kinda sucked. I believe the eternals could've worked better as a series
@israelruiz8706 I disagree. Eternals was never going to be a series for two reasons: 1) An Eternals series would have been more expensive than the movie. It would probably have required a budget similar to the Rings of Power if they were going for something that lasted longer than a two hour and a half movie. 2) The story of the Eternals feels more adequate for the big screen. Seeing as it’s about the origins of the universe and how the Eternals influenced civilisation, that screams cinematic, not streaming show.

I always believed that the Inhumans work best as aloof allies of the superhero community at best and their ideological rivals at worst, so having an Avengers vs. Inhumans or X-Men vs. Inhumans is something that could work as a spiritual sucessor to Captain America 3: Civil War.

That is very true, but that point gets almost immediately overlooked by the fact Spider-Man No Way Home made 1.9 Billion a month later during that same pandemic. Imagine how much money that movie would have made if it didn't have to worry about the pandemic.
I think there’s actually a really good chance for both the Eternals and Inhumans to return, because obviously we know that Marvel has more plans for the Eternals given all they set up with them but also even though they shit the bed with the Inhumans tv show it was 1 of those properties where I feel like Kevin Feige has always been secretly itching to try it again and redeem it, it’s not just “Oh man, we did terrible with this property before, let’s just move on and forget about it” No, I really think Kevin Feige *wants* the Inhumans to be included in the MCU, so I think there’s actually a high chance for both of them to return
It's definitely got it's problems, but I've rated Eternals since the first time I watched it. The cast is amazing, the fight sequences felt chunky, and I really appreciated Zhao pushing for more on-location filming. It made a difference.
While the Inhumans were created because of the ip issue between Marvel and Fox, I disagree that they shouldn't be brought into the fold. Much like the eternals the Inhumans represent a large faction within the Marvel universe. I think with Namor, and more BP films on the horizon it makes sense to bring the inhumans back as another faction.
I totally agree. I liked Eternals. I thought it was interesting and I'd definitely like to see more Celestials and dive deeper into their origins with The First Firmament and all of that. I would totally go see an Eternals 2 if it happened but I'm not holding my breath. I do think the Eternals should at least appear again in other movies and they need to resolve the whole "judgement" thing. Otherwise what was the point of the movie if none of it matters to the wider MCU? Inhumans has gotta be some of the worst TV I've ever seen and I don't care about that coming back at all. Though, yes it was cool to see Black Bolt in Doctor Strange 2.
I enjoyed eternals, thought the origins of the characters were very interesting and provided a cool insight into the comsic side of the mcu. Hoping they incorporate them with the mutant saga somehow.
Feige was probably just being polite. What's he supposed to say? "The movie was dogs**t, my bad!"? The notion of trying to resurrect a bunch of characters that the majority of fans, let alone the general public, never really connected with, from a movie that until I watched this, had forgotten about, seems like a really dumb idea. Even for Disney/Marvel. But people can reach for hope out of the most benign quotes to fill 15 minutes I guess.

They definitely have to pepper the Eternals in somewhere in this phase just to wrap up that “Earth being judged” plot. But then again, he didn’t say when he’d return so push it off if you don’t have time to address it now. The Inhumans basically being “mutants with weird mist” cracked me up. But it’s valid. I didn’t care for the new gods of course I loved the X-Men both the Addams version and the Cockrum/burn version. The Eternals I tried as a kid I just couldn’t get into it. I think Kirby didn’t know how to tell a story properly. The characters were two dimensional, but I love the movie.
TBF Inhumans isn't made by Marvel Studios... So kinda excuse it from an MCU letdown cause it wasn't part of the MCU. Inhumans deserves a better reboot.
The Eternals was a dumpster fire... compared to the comics and the stories they could have told. There is nothing about that which is good... other than maybe the ketamine kicking in.
Damn we’re down to could return? Remember the pay days of Marvel when the films ended with so and so will return. Not they’re not sure what to do with character intros they started.
Inhumans was 2017 so that’s a big return. it would also likely bring SHIELD back into the fold as well as Inhumans form a big part of that show. Eternals had a “Eternals will return” but everyone acts like that didn’t happen. Ikaris is showing up in Marvel Zombies, they’re probably making an appearance in What If. With them finally acknowledging Eternals’ events in Cap 4, it’s a reminder that no matter the reception, if it's part of the MCU it's staying in- one way or another. I guarantee we're seeing them again.
I didn’t like Eternals very much. I thought the idea of it was great but the movie was boring as hell and the most interesting and likable character was only in the movie in the beginning with Kit Harrington’s Dane Whitman a human experiencing these insane things was funny and entertaining. ALSO the other likable characters died or had barely any screen time with Gilgamesh. Sersi was really cool but kind of bland and boring. Same for Phaustos. Sprite, Druid, and Ikaris all super unlikable characters. They sucked. The whole end credit scene made me dislike a lot to the movie even more with Harry Styles and that awful CGI “Pip the Troll” which would have been way better if they used a combination of makeup, wardrobe, camera tricks, and some special effects to make the actual Patton Oswalt into Pip. ALSO THEY COMPLETELY RUINED KINGO BY MAKING THE ETERNAL WHO LOVED HUMANS AND THIS PLANET MOST A COMPLETE P*SSY AND TRAITOR. The whole Blade end credits and the Dane witnessing the Eternals being taken by the Celestials were cool. AND I thought the “villain” was cool for the two seconds he was in the movie. The movie was beautiful to look at. And again the concept/idea of the movie was great it just was boring and not utilized in a great way at all. They could have done sooo many cool things showing the Eternals being part of or the cause of key historic events. But nope we get one scene at the beginning, one a little ways in, and one towards the end that felt completely thrown in because they realized they didn’t utilize the coolest part of these characters and this movie very much where it showed Phaustos with the bomb scene. I didn’t hate alll of the movie but it is probably in my top 3 least favorite MCU movies. I like Antman & The Wasp, Thor 2, and Captain Marvel 1&2 better.
I agree that with X-Men on board there's really no need for Inhumans. Take into account the show absolutely shit the bed, its better off to just let them stay in Marvel's past. Plus you have one of the more well known Inhumans still in the MCU in Ms. Marvel\Kamala Khan already being retconned as a Mutant. I always thought Eternals would return and they should. I liked the movie & like John appreciate it more and more upon rewatch. I don't think its top tier either but to be the MCU's first rotten rated movie I thought was a bit much. When it comes to MCU movies & tv that I think are worse than Eternals, I'll definitely need 2 hands to count. It left a lot of potential on the table, so that's why I have it probably square in the middle of an MCU ranking but they definitely deserve another shot and many people want to see them too as opposed to the Inhumans where I think the number wanting more of them is significantly lower
If Inhumans come back... KEEP SCOTT BUCK AWAY FROM IT. Not only did he do them dirty but he did Iron Fist dirty too by making him Temu Arrow basically.
All of this is due to Jack Kirby’s imagination X-Men was mutant humans inhumans was a mutant race separate from humans as guard was a superhuman race ofsuperhuman’s The new gods was a superhuman race of superhuman replacing the guardian superhuman race of superhumans, and then the Eternals was a superhuman race of primordial superhumans. Each more superhuman than the last. So we should either just choose one which is a horrible idea or we should have them all which is a wonderful idea
No keep them as they are in the comics and feature them as support characters in and fantastic 4 sequel. With a crystal Johnny side story. No need to make up new stories for them as villains for x men.
@@milestheory2886 there’s comic precedence already, also comic canon isn’t some godsend you need to rely on to make good movies. A Movie Writer writing a new story that isn’t from the comics isn’t any different from a comic writer writing a new story
Besides from Blackbolt on Earth 838, there hasn't been a single Inhuman in the MCU. So, how can they make a return to the MCU if they were never there to begin with?
I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER MOVIE! Now if it was shorter and actually gave me the coolest part of The Eternals as characters which isn’t their powers, the Celestials, or Multiverse stuff. IT IS WHAT MOMENTS FROM OUR HISTORY DID THEY INFLUENCE OR CAUSE? ! They barely touched that in the movie. Which is why I found the movie so boring. I didn’t care enough about these characters to find the majority of the movie interesting. The focus was the rocky romance between Sersi and Ikaris. Why would I care I literally just met them and they didn’t give me a reason to care. I hated the characters…Makkari was cool but only because of the special effects, Gilgamesh died, Kingo was ruined. Thena and Sersi were cool power wise but again BORING AND UNINTERESTING! Which is the problem with The Eternals as characters and the movie.
Honestly, I think you could bring back both the Inhumans and Eternals to the MCU, the world is big enough for it. I didn't think Eternals was that bad when I saw it in the theater in 2021. I liked it, but I think it could have worked better if it had been split into two parts. I think its been long enough since the failure of the Inhumans TV show that you could start fresh with the Inhumans.
The thing is that I don’t the necessity of having Eternals and Inhumans coexist together. They both fill up that Jack Kirby cosmic slot so I think you only need one as having the two would be confusing. Plus, as John said, what’s the point of having the Inhumans they tried to replace the X-Men and we know the X-Men are coming?
I think the problem is that there are too many toys in the toy box. It takes forever before the next movie. For instance, we should have had another Shang-Chi movie at this point, or at least on its way, but it likely won’t happen until after Secret Wars. They really need to focus on the storylines and characters they have already. If they bring back INHUMANS or Eternals, then they should exist in another universe.
Decent chance they’ll pop up in secret wars. If the inhumans do show up I doubt it’ll be the same version from the tv show, even if they have the same actors
I think Eternals suffered from having 4 writers. When a project has too many writers, it suffers as a while. Sometimes, it works as there are some movies like Lord of the Rings that had several writers and they ended up being good.
“Are you sure you’re ready for that, Mr.Whitman?” 🗡️🦇 I put full blame on “Eternal Boredom” wasting my guy Dane Whitman/The Black Knight. Unless we get ACTUAL CONFIRMATION of a movie that features him in it soon, we won’t be seeing Kit Harington for a *VERY* long time as a consequence of the lukewarm reception this movie had, just like many other characters teased purely to drum up hype for a nonexistent upcoming project. (Looking at YOU, BLADE. Marvel WISHES it could get its shit together!)
As much as I want to see another Eternals film, I want Marvel to stop bringing back characters to life because that makes death and stakes pointless. Let dead characters stay dead.
I agree with John on the Inhumans. That show was a product of the Ike Pearlmutter era of Marvel as Pearlmutter was so obsessed in downplaying anything that was owned by 20th Century Fox at the time. It was also a show that was made really cheap. I think remember reading that one episode had them cutting Medusa’s hair only because they didn’t have the budget to animate it as she used her powers.
I’m hoping Feige will get to solve these loose ends since Phase 4 in other projects (MCU movies & shows) sometime in the next 5 years. I could see several of the Eternals show up in the next Thor 5 or if a Nova show/film pop up sometimes. I’d be very surprised if they even show up at all in the next 2 Avengers films (Doomsday and Secret Wars)
I can see that there is an argument for brining back Eternals, especially if there is a different director (who was not suited to the role or needed more supervision to understand the Marvel method, but bring back Inhumans seems nonsensical. Feige never seems to want to give up on an idea, for better or worse. BTW, I’m not surprised at all that nobody is bringing it the Celestial. The people in the MCU just seem really jaded by now and stuff like that seems fairly commonplace after Infinity War.
I feel like, as an adaptation, they should just consider inhumans mutants. Ditch the terragin mist And just have them be another faction of mutants. It makes more sense anyway to have more groups of mutants (in america) than x-men and molocks (x force, new mutant, ect are just xmen spinoffs)
I like the inhumans I think it was a great show for me it's my opinion I remember watching that show on Disney plus but it was a good show I like Crystal I remember I have a crush on her.
I really dont get the Eternals hate. I enjoyed that movie. Was it Marvels best? Not at all, but it wasn't garbage.

They're throwing spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks
If
The inhumans return in mcu should be with the X-men mutants saga
Eternals will 1000% be in Thor 5. (Eternally Thor)
Even Hercules and Beta Ray Bill?
I would RATHER THEM HIT FAST FORWARD AND FOCUS ON THE X-MEN ALREADY! And fill in all the rest with street level stuff and mystical magical stuff.
Personally eternals wasn’t good at all. But honestly there is worst trash in the mcu 😂.
If Inhumans come back... KEEP SCOTT BUCK AWAY FROM IT. Not only did he do them dirty but he did Iron Fist dirty too by making him Temu Arrow basically.
Scott Buck?
@@johnsantos507he's the showrunner for Iron Fist, Inhumans and the last few seasons of Dexter.
@fettmanplays4170 Well it's never too late to give them another chance. And don't bring Scott Buck back because that person will screw up again.
Yes sir Marvel UCM
Could they bring them back at the start of doomsday to die by the hands of dr doom?
All of this is due to Jack Kirby’s imagination X-Men was mutant humans inhumans was a mutant race separate from humans as guard was a superhuman race ofsuperhuman’s The new gods was a superhuman race of superhuman replacing the guardian superhuman race of superhumans, and then the Eternals was a superhuman race of primordial superhumans. Each more superhuman than the last. So we should either just choose one which is a horrible idea or we should have them all which is a wonderful idea
One of these groups are already coming on January 2025...
Inhumans would be a great antithesis to X-men, make them villains
Like Inhumans vs X-men
No keep them as they are in the comics and feature them as support characters in and fantastic 4 sequel.
@@Fourmath The Inhumans haters don't want them to return to the MCU. To me, I want them back! The Inhumans deserve a second chance.
Imagine they bring back Inhumans just to kill them all off like Black Bolt 💀
And give Inhumans something dirty? No!
@@johnsantos507 Sadly we know how much Kevin hates Inhumans
@@JoshArtisto Well he should hate someone else who screwed up Inhumans series.
At the very least I think it’d be cool to have an Eternals centric What If episode “What If the Eternals intervened” or something like that
Iron Man 2 was great better than Iron Man 1. Eternals was great. Hope Inhumans return. The show was ok. I want both Inhumans and Eternals to come back
Honestly, I think you could bring back both the Inhumans and Eternals to the MCU, the world is big enough for it.
The Inhumans show was AWFUL
Say what you want about the Eternals and Inhumans but I liked the lore they set up. Mostly.
I think Eternals suffered from having 4 writers. When a project has too many writers, it suffers as a while. Sometimes, it works as there are some movies like Lord of the Rings that had several writers and they ended up being good.
No thanks.
Eternals would have been a good MCU series. Especially if season 1 had an episode on each eternals back story and season 2 was the main story.
Eternals and Inhumans Should Come In Mutants Saga/Soft Reboot
“Are you sure you’re ready for that, Mr.Whitman?” 🗡️🦇
I put full blame on “Eternal Boredom” wasting my guy Dane Whitman/The Black Knight.
If they make eternals again without using the Unimind to revive Gilgamesh , Ajak, and Icarus back to life then they aren't doing the right thing.
I actually enjoyed the eternals
No thank you. Those events happened in a soon to be forgotten universe.
Enternals is terribly written and offensive.
I enjoyed Eternals. I enjoyed the ancient astronaut story they went for.
I feel like, as an adaptation, they should just consider inhumans mutants.
Ditch the terragin mist
And just have them be another faction of mutants.
It makes more sense anyway to have more groups of mutants (in america) than x-men and molocks (x force, new mutant, ect are just xmen spinoffs)
*and brotherhood
No
I like the inhumans I think it was a great show for me it's my opinion I remember watching that show on Disney plus but it was a good show I like Crystal I remember I have a crush on her.
I watched Inhumans once on HULU years ago before they put that series on Disney+.
We’ll get a cameo from them but Eternals 2 is not happening at all 😂😂 be realistic John
John you are the only one that wants the eternals back
No thanks and all accounts.
