So happy you went there. My father was born on Syros & I was baptized in the 1st church you went to! You have to go see the sunset at Kini Beach it’s 1 of the best in all of Greece!!
That is such a beautiful church, we are still looking back on our footage of Syros. The island is incredibly beautiful. And good to know about Kini! We went there twice when we were there, but missed the sunset views!
I cant understand why people feel the need to compare one island from another.I have been to most of these islands and find they are all unique in there own way.
because people wsnt to know for one travel whixh one is most worth it. im going to visit naxos and aantorini thid summer and think of accompanying it with either milos, syros or paros and am totally not able to choose
Ι love it when tourists and bloggers explore alternative islands. Indeed Syros had and has its own Shipyards but also was the home place of many modern Sculptors like Halepas that it’s most famous work lies in the First cemetery in Athens. It’s hometown was Pirgos on the north of the island where there are a number of workshops with students. Hope if you are still there to visit on the Village on the Ano Ysternia the Church of St. Catherine which has tons of sculpted marble walls. I personally have named it the Acropolis of of all Greek Churches.
All the comment, except for the shipyards that are indeed in Syros, is true but for the island of Tinos, not Syros. Tinos is opposite of Syros, a few miles away.
When you speak about Pyrgos , Ysternia and sculptor Halepas , you are referring to the nearby island of Tinos! Syros is the island of Philosopher Pherekydes , the teacher of Pythagoras for instance ! What is for sure is that whoever comes to Syros for the first time , wants to come back again , since one falls in love with this very island!
I’m so excited to see Syros, I’m exploring relocating to Greece and Syros keeps coming up! I too lived in Hawaii for a long time and I’m totally ready for a New journey! Much Mahalos for this information!
I always watch your video's two or three times , such beautiful pictures. I have to find a way to see them on a big screen. I will certainly enjoy them even more. Nikki, I like your innocent look on 0,16 and 3,25. So adorable. I only wonder how the people make a living. No tourism, so? Do you know that? Have fun.
Glad you liked the video! Well, Syros is the capital of the Cycladic islands. So the island tends to be pretty busy with some tourism, but also with local people from other islands. Syros stays pretty busy year round (from what we've read).
Great video! What month did you go there? Are taxis accessible? I don’t want to rent a car but like to go to the beaches which are on the other side of the island. What do people do for transportation on Syros?
Hello, I’ll be going to visit Athens with my husband first week of November in a cruise, so time is limited, so we’ll be there for just maybe more or less 5 hours. There are some excursions offered by the cruise but I can’t decide which one should I book considering our age, were both in our early sixties and thanks God we can still manage to walk well, but I don’t have any idea about the place. What can you advice us? Thank you to the both of you. Keep on traveling and may God keep and bless you always ❤️
@@DennyandNikki A few people know it, but Greece is the country with biggest cheese consumption per capita - about 68 pounds per person, annually ! (We like our Feta !) So if you are a cheese lover Greece is the place to be :-) The best thing is that you can find local rare cheeses in almost every small place - particularly the islands in the Aegean have a very very long tradition - I think island hopping for cheese and wine tasting is a great way to spend your holidays, so until next time ! Take care both of you.
Surprise! Surprise! Finally a couple who skip Mykonos... This overrated and so expensive island. I wonder how is it that all tourists know nothing more but Mykonos and Santorini. I am Greek and we have a summer house on Syros but regardless of that I have to say that there are so many islands in Greece each one o them a real gem. I think foreigners should more carefully before making a decision.
Sorry, with all my love to Greek Islands, Syros was a big dissapointment. Would recommend other nearby islands instead, Amorgos, Folegandros, and if you go further - Symi etc.
Their cruelty towards cats is absolutely abysmal...there is a cat sanctuary that does its best to help the strays, but the Mayor of Syros, does absolutely nothing to punish people who take 1 week old kittens from their mother, put them in a shoe box then put them behind a dumpster! This is NOT a one off occurance...absolutely, disgusting.
We didn't really experience too much night life. Mostly just bars and restaurants that stay open later. But we may not know all the night life spots either!

Could you recommend a short trip (3 days) to syros in october? I heard that most of the restaurants and cafes are closed in autmn:/ thanks a lot 🙏🏻
I like how peaceful it looks. It seems like you can break away from the crowded places and just come here for a day.
Lived there for a year....best year of my life 💗💗

That's where my grandmother was born. Unfortunately, I have no relatives or property there. ☹
What was the name of the bakery you went to?
nice Video (: where should i stay there?
Did you have "San Michali" cheese ? Local, rare cheese, one of the best Greece has to offer, considered the "Greek Parmesan"
No we didn’t! We did see that on the menu a couple of times. More reasons for us to plan a trip back 😁
