- For our first stop in Greece, we decided to stay at the most underrated island in Greece: Sifnos!
To be honest, we didn't expect much, but were so pleasantly surprised by the beautiful towns, the stunning beaches and the amazing hospitality of the local people. We were also amazed by the quality of the food on Sifnos, from traditional taverna food to incredibly creative dishes that would fit perfectly in Michelin starred restaurants.
We had an amazing time in Apollonia and at Platys Gialos, but also loved the little town of Kastro, Vathi and Artemonas!

This island looks amazing and like a great alternative to the more crowded islands-plus we love the sound of a foodie island! Herbie is adorable-we will definitely be checking out the van build video (and also I’d love the see the video where Herbie island hops 😂)

Sifnos is the home of the best travel agents in Greece. We've used Aegean Thesaurus Travel on many occasions. Top class. Wouldn't use anyone else.
Wow, very romanic setting. The van is as bright and cheerful as the beautiful island. Plus, I don't see crowds of tourists, so it has to be off-season. Perfect place to be. Hard to find anything negative about the Greek Islands. Thanks for sharing your beautiful memories.
The end of the season is definitely a factor, but I think in general Sifnos is still pretty calm even in high season compared to some other Greek islands nearby! 🥰
It is off-season, yes. From July 20th to at least end of August, your Sifnos experience can be significantly different, in a bad way, because it gets pretty crowded: having to book a table at a restaurant, not finding a beach-bed or just a spot under a tree when on the beach, etc... I go there every summer alternating months. July is by far better

I was there for a few days some years ago,it is very beautiful and peaceful and a "rich people" island with rich culinary tradition.

Great video, thank you! You asked how the island is pronounced in English, so here it is. It's Sifnos -not Sifno. We use 'Sifno' when in the object form, but that's only when we speak Greek. In English it's just Sifnos, Milos, Serifos etc

I have been to this island once or twice for the last 6 years - COVID year 2020 being the exceptional. There is a map dedicated just to the walking paths! It is also know for its food and there are many great dishes to be had on this island. But guys who goes to an Italian restaurant to showcase the food on a Greek Island - seriously🙈
The food on Sifnos is amazing! We absolutely loved it! Nothing wrong with an Italian meal when spending over a month in Greece I think 😂. It’s not that we didn’t try any Greek food 🤔

MUST BUY BERKEY WATER FILTRATION!!! Sorry HERBBY gotta find room and bolt it down.! TAKES OUT 99.9% of contaminants....best water filtration (but leaves all minerals) and you can even add a chlorine filter as well. Buy the travel version. GOOD CLEAN WATER!!

You may have already been, but if you ever find yourself in Australia again, there is a restaurant overlooking the beach at Port Willunga on the Fleuriau Peninsula in South Australia called The Star of Greece. I've never been but it features well in travel magazines. It's on my bucket list anyway 🤞
Will definitely keep that in mind! It’s our goal to make it to Australia with our van in the near future! Just waiting for borders to open up 🙏🏻

Just some basics: best restaurants, easiest way to get around, which are the nice neighbourhoods, stuff like that 🥰
Thank you for this video . The name is "Sifnos" . But in Greek Grammar we change the names according to their position in a sentence . If it is the subject you call it Sifnos. (Sifnos is the name of the island . The island is called Sifnos . Sifnos is one of my favorite islands) But when it is not the subject you skip the "s" at the end. F.e. Have you ever been to..Sifno? (Έχεις πάει ποτέ στην Σίφνο; ) or : Serifos is next to Sifno.
But in English you don't have this grammar rule so you use " Sifnos" everywhere

Very aristocratic island, one could say the "Mykonos" of the intellectuals, also considered the gastronomic capital of the Cycladic Islands.
