I love how you're so honest with your mental health when you have to push your self. I hate when people romanticize artist and thinks we always absolutely enjoy working just because we are artist. But truth is, work is work and it is stressful and frustrating at times
I guess that is why I fail at doing anything creative like drawing. I am too much of a perfectionist. If something doesn't look good enough for me, I cannot continue because I feel it will be only mediocre at best. For example, if some lines look out of alignment, I would have the strong desire to re-do that piece.
Actually, there is one similar to it I recently read on WHI it says s ^I feel like only artists are the only ones who know that things can look bad until they are done and not give up^
I know this is an older video, but I love the editing choice of fast-forward montage cut with the sound of a casual conversation that took place during the painting process. It felt super organic, and fit so well. Beautiful final product as well - amazing mural.

Loved the chat with the unknown lady voice. She's one of those people who see art as talent. As fellow illustrator, I know that good work comes from lots of doing, and having 'the feel' for it. But it's nice to know that some people can't do more than just stick figures, and just love to see what we can do.

I have felt this fatigue and self doubt when working on a large project and wanting to give up, but then once it's finally done I start crying happy tears and feel an amazing rush. It's not often you can wow yourself, so when you do it's one of the most gratifying things you'll ever experience. Two most repetitive statements an artists hears from onlookers while in the groove....."I can't paint a stick figure." "My daughter is an artist". Like we've never heard that before! LOL! Looks great dude!
yeah,.... as an artist having to put up with onlookers commenting on your work; is sorta like.... putting up with other artists talking sh!t about onlookers commenting on their work !? You didn't edit your comment enough.... it's still about 200 characters toooo long
Just imagine not having the skill to draw, wouldn’t you want to tell an artist how extraordinary their skill is? Sure it’s repetitive, but if they’re genuine, who cares?
I love that all artists can connect over being told that exact line over and over again :'D I always say the exact same thing: It's all about training. I'm nowhere near ten hun of course lol, but some day : D
Oh I remember this job we had a conversation 😊 badge access’s was the best part of the job. I can’t name the client either. thank you for the words of wisdom
I just want to thank you for inspiring me to get back to my art.. I watched your art saved my life video and related a lot. My struggles killed my creativity for a long time and I'm starting to get back myself finally. Part of that is making art again which you're partially responsible for..thank you ten hundred!
Seen you vids so many times. I come back to them too. As an artist and art teacher I love these on so many levels-especially the work that goes into the mural, the business and creating video content. So much respect bc any one of those skill sets are huge! I just showed this video to my Jr. High students in a mural design elective. They stayed engaged and enjoyed it. A few great stopping points to talk about what they noticed or why they thoughts things were a certain way...So great. Thank you for creating awesome art and content like this that helps so many learn and grow in their lives with their work. ❤😎
So this might save you time on your next mural. I feel like this should work. When you're laying your chalk lines there's a tool we use in general contracting called a chalk box. Pretty much a retractable string covered in chalk that you line up where you want it and snap the lines.
I do these kind of jobs to businesses exactly like this, i work in the same city as him and i go to plenty of other places as well. I would say around 50 cent of pay to do all that. Thats a steal, just 50 more cent to get something from the dollar menu in McDonalds.
@@209benny7 that can't possibly be true. Look at all the effort and time that's being put into these paintings it has to be more than a hundred dollars atleast
I’m the exact same, I submitted a proposal for two murals on a whim. I got the job and now I’m doubting myself but have to finish so maybe just throw out a line and you might surprise yourself :D
christ. im over here praying you got at the very least $20k for that. the concept speaks for itself but the amount of time and effort is unreal. im really happy for you (hopefully you got several thousand dollars for that masterpiece)
Love your work!!! You're incredibly talented and fun! I am an artist and veteran art educator, moving into assisting muralists over past two years. I am being pushed to just jump in and make my own to build a portfolio. I excited and very scared- there are so so so many wicked talented muralists out there and there is NO way I can draw like you or Naomi. It seems that most muralists are illustrators, which I am not, I am first a sculptor and painter/abstract expressionism. I am going to try as I love the mural world and love the mural community, but breaking in NYC and region has been tough. Thanks for showing us your process and your humility makes you easy to imagine working with. Kindness and bringing in artists who really want to help and try is so important.
It is so strange to me that the client did not allow you to mention their name. As if it would make them look bad or something if people knew they had a beautiful piece of art on one of their walls. Very strange.
I just found you a few weeks ago and your work is amazing. The thing i love about your art is that you can look at it 100 times and seem something new every time! Especially this one. Great job.
You're talking through your process is really inspiring me as I'm starting my mural career across the water. Looking forward to going to Seattle again to check out some of your work.
as an artist and tattoo designer, you will always see your work as subpar. all that matters is that no one else will see it as such because they will never see it through the eyes of the artist. Remember that your art brings inspiration. and that there is no right or wrong when creating something, it will always be valued by many.
Really appreciate this. I was asked to do a mural, dont have a job, and wanted to put together a few samples of my style. This really inspired me, thanks. I love your personal visionary style!
Great education you two guys had... Wanna name the "faculty" you´ve been in visiting? (You are forgiven in one case, which is not being natives, else, name me the faculty) lol
@@digitaldefect5889 what are you on about man foreward isn't a word, it's forward in the context of the art work there unless there's a company thing or inside joke to have it otherwise.

Two most repetitive statements an artists hears from onlookers while in the groove....."I can't paint a stick figure." "My daughter is an artist". Like we've never heard that before! LOL! Looks great dude!
yeah,.... as an artist having to put up with onlookers commenting on your work;
is sorta like.... putting up with other artists talking sh!t about onlookers commenting on their work !?
You didn't edit your comment enough.... it's still about 200 characters toooo long
Just imagine not having the skill to draw, wouldn’t you want to tell an artist how extraordinary their skill is? Sure it’s repetitive, but if they’re genuine, who cares?
Its always the daughter, i feel like if the sons an artist they are artists most of the time.
It is almost as if we are all humans or something.

Dude! That thing was epic!! So much respect for you freehanding that bad boy, i live by my projector haha
Thank you!! Sometimes free-handing it is liberating... but it does take a lot longer in the first steps
Dude.
if i could draw like that, i would draw everywhere
You can... you just need to invest time and effort into yourself.
Looking at your art makes me want to quit painting and start painting at the same time. weird huh?
Oto Tsagareishvili keep practicing.
Oto Tsagareishvili If that's what you think after watching him, I can't imagine what you would say after watching someone like Kim Jung Gi lol
Oto Tsagareishvili you cant wuit something you haven’t started
That’s what I feel like when I see my dad’s artwork too. He’s a professional artist.
Why? His art is shit
How much they pay you for that?
I do these kind of jobs to businesses exactly like this, i work in the same city as him and i go to plenty of other places as well. I would say around 50 cent of pay to do all that. Thats a steal, just 50 more cent to get something from the dollar menu in McDonalds.
@@209benny7 that can't possibly be true. Look at all the effort and time that's being put into these paintings it has to be more than a hundred dollars atleast
Like 10 k easy

I wish I had the balls to take on a big project like this. I’m always afraid of disappointing.
damn ur fine
Harden the fuck up!
I’m the exact same, I submitted a proposal for two murals on a whim. I got the job and now I’m doubting myself but have to finish so maybe just throw out a line and you might surprise yourself :D
thought i was clicking on a kiptoe video; definitely not disappointed though ahaha
Jai nice 👍 thank you
haha same here.
Same
christ. im over here praying you got at the very least $20k for that. the concept speaks for itself but the amount of time and effort is unreal. im really happy for you (hopefully you got several thousand dollars for that masterpiece)
Great job ! Very inspiring and motivating
It is so strange to me that the client did not allow you to mention their name. As if it would make them look bad or something if people knew they had a beautiful piece of art on one of their walls. Very strange.
DowzerWTP72 it's probably in case there is a controversy about something In the painting.
its amazon, so i dont know why either.
@@lancebrightmire1653 That was my thought as well -- you can never tell what form trouble might take. Better to keep everything quiet
maybe its so he cant get clout from their name
Many companies want to keep operating expenses, like commissioning a major piece of art for one of the offices, close to the vest.
microsoft or amazon or google

I didn't expect myself to watch the video till the end, but then, I DID. WOW? The mural is fantastic!
I just found you a few weeks ago and your work is amazing. The thing i love about your art is that you can look at it 100 times and seem something new every time! Especially this one. Great job.
"foreward"???
Ikr that made me really uncomfortable
Pretty sure it's intentional
Foreward is a word.

Amazing! Ten hund you are really one of those kind of artists that is a definition of never giving up. This mural is amazing!😊😊
let me guess they said "please make sure you have a big owl in it somewhere because we cant get enough of that symbolism"
did you miss spell "forward" on the mural?
He spelled it Foreward but you never know, i't might meen something and should be like that. There is never a right or wrong in art...
@@peofroding6464 foreward is not a word
It's such a corny line you'd imagine some imbecile writing that "foreward" actually seems to work better.

brrrrtttt KILL EM with the characters. really dig
SLEW thanks bro!
Love it how the customer really appreciate the mural progress
as an artist and tattoo designer, you will always see your work as subpar. all that matters is that no one else will see it as such because they will never see it through the eyes of the artist. Remember that your art brings inspiration. and that there is no right or wrong when creating something, it will always be valued by many.

Foreward is a different word than Forward. different meanings.
@@johnf6825 Its Old / Middle English and comes from Foreweard // foreward what means agreement, condition, treaty etc...) and is seen equivalent to fore + ward which means ("ward, keeping").
So it might relate to guarding something in front....
Therefore its actually a word and if you want to know more about it, wiktionary might help ya.
This just looks insane! Should come and paint on some of the walls in Australia! It'd definitely brighten up everyone's day seeing such amazing artwork
He spelled 'Forward' as 'Foreward' in the first section
Maybe it’s duo lingo there’s a lot of messages in different languages 🤔

i dont understand that american logic.
big company: „allright, we need a cool painting in our new office!“
artist: „ye, i can do that.“
big company: „but we need the walls to be finished in a few days since our workers are moving in!“
german artist: „fugg yu! art neetz time, ja!“
us artist: „allright, i can do this :( “
why do you guys over there push that dates so hard? i mean doesnt that building get planned in advance or what? why does the schedules always have to be that tight???
its also noticable with the motorcycle / car garage / workshops. its not like what youre asking for is the water supply or electricity thats so urgent! why cant you order that „unimportant“ stuff further in advance, so the poor guy trying to finish your order has enought time???? wtf
also: ITS ART! do you want it to look cool or do you want it splattered hasty with a bucket on your fcking wall? 10HUN did an awesome job tho! you know yourself, with more time it would have looked better ;)
It was probably based on the time he quoted. Maybe he didn't realise how narrow the hall would be and it took longer than expected.
That is so cool that they have an artist for every floor!!
Insightful comments and totally rad art, love it ! Thank you for sharing your art and yourself you have an assume colourful future. I feel privileged to be able to follow your journey. Inspirational Cheers
