Since when do presidents raise taxes without congressional approval?
I would be retiring or working less in 5 years, and I'm curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around $250K per year but nothing to show for it yet.
predicting short-term market movements is extremely difficult in reality. It also essentially requires the investor to be right twice: they must perfectly time both their entrance to and exit from the market.

I would avoid index funds, mutual funds, and specific stocks for the time being. Right now, the best option is a fixed income of five percent. Put money aside for the times when the market really starts to bounce back.

I see the rising interest rate as a very big problem, as more investors will definitely pull out more money from the Stock market. This might have worked when I was still invest-ing with a couple thousand dollars, but it is more difficult now to decide whether to pull out more than $365k from my port-folio. I know some inves-tors still make that despite the strong bear market. In wish I could pull that feat
I think the whole thing about holding stocks for long term will always apply. So I think you should get a quality broker who is able to analyze and pick stocks that will do well in the long term, else you will be in a long bear ride.

Property tax is unconstitutional if you don’t pay it and they seize your property. By definition you don’t own it and will never own it.
Owner of a 'paid off' house here. My power bill, water bill, and internet bill every month cost less than my property taxes.
I literally have to spend more money per month keeping the government from stealing my house, making me homeless, and losing everything I own.... than i do actually running my house.
And the local school system that gets almost 70% of that stolen money has less than 8% success rate of students graduation ready for a job or 101 freshman classes in college.

Biden isn't raising your taxes - the Republicans are - they designed the 2017 tax cuts to expire for people making less than $400K/year so that the tax cuts for the corporations and top 1%ers would be permanent. Now the Republicans are trying to blame their tax plan on Biden. Don't fall for it.

Fed, banks, pensions, mutual funds, China, Japan, Ireland, etc. congress raises the debt ceiling all the time so the credit card isn’t maxed meaning Treasury can continue to issue more debt.

no its not. its taxing 66% of the gain, at effective income tax rate. Nobody will be taxed more than 40% effective on capital gains, but that's still too high

Canada is a dumpster fire. No idea why anyone is still living in that country that has marketable skills. Like seriously...the Canadian passport still gives some good options. States should take measures to establish precious metal-backed legal tender (instead of it being taxed as a collectible), it's the only way ordinary folks' savings will maintain purchasing power.
How is it even a "gain" when by the government's own admission (CPI, PPI lies), the currency in which the gain is denominated, namely USD, has experienced capital loss (of purchasing power)? Shouldn't capital gains be inflation adjusted? So the government taxes us twice -- once by currency devaluation via inflation, and again via capital gains! Ridiculous.
