A documentary story about the inhabitants of the Faroe Islands, their struggles with difficult living conditions, clashes with nature, ocean, climate, isolation and hunger. It’s also a history of a struggle for the survival of Faroese - a language which is used only by nearly 80,000 people today. The story of a state whose origins come from small communities of isolated villages, and whose urban solutions are now a model for the rest of the world.
In 2019 FAROE WAY was aired on the Faroe Islands national public television - Kringvarp Føroya.

Director:
Kuba Witek (aka Jakub Witek) - born on November 19th, 1983 in Cracow, but grew up in Kielce. Filmmaker, traveler, author of books. A graduate of the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.
An enthusiast of the North. He visited Sweden and Norway, and been to Iceland six times. He wandered around the largest Vatnajökull glacier, visited the ice caves and climbed the highest Icelandic peak. He toured the entire island three times. For the first time in 2016, during a lonely trip on two wheels, which he later described in the book - Ring Road: Around Iceland on a bicycle. The second time in the summer of 2017, to make his first documentary - ISOLAND: Icelandic stories of Polish immigrants.
Participant in youth exchanges and non-governmental initiatives. Worked on commercial film projects in New York, Berlin, Paris, Reykjavik, Oslo and other places.
A runner, advocate of a plant diet, minimalist. Author of the autobiographical novel RE: Tusz, describing his fight against addiction and the hardships of growing up in post-communist Poland.

Same wyspy objezdzalismy wypozyczonym autem - pogoda nam dopisala, bylismy w lipcu, te niesamowite przestrzenie, dachy porosniete trawa, owce wloczace sie praktycznie wszedzie, niesamowita ilosc wodospadow... Na pewno kiedys tam wrocimy. To miejsce jest magiczne!

A fascinating place. It would be helpful since your documentary is in English that you provide subtitles under the the Faroese language. Hopefully one day I could visit, during summer.
Powiem tak, w dobie reelsów i tiktoków czasem ciężko dobrnąć do końca kilkusekundowego wideo.
Zobaczyłem, prawie godzina? Neeeei! Ale spróbujmy. Oglądałem jak przedszkolak kreskówkę przyklejony do ekranu, nie wiem kiedy to zleciało. Genialna robota. Chyle czoła za podjęcie tematu i świetnego materiału pełnych wspaniałych ujęć!
Wyśmienity dokument na światowym poziomie.
Jestem na świeżo po seansie i nie mogę ochłonąć po tych wszystkich pięknych krajobrazach. Ja chcę na Wyspy Owcze!
Mocno polecam wybrać się do mniej oczywistych zakątków archipelagu jak np. wyspy Skúvoy, Hestur lub na całodniowy wypad na południową wyspę Suðuroy :) W razie czego chętnie podzielę się informacjami, pozdrawiam!

I have to add. Tourists please don't go hiking in the mountains alone without a faroese person. Some tourists have disappeared and died up there and fallen off cliffs cause the weather changes very sudden. One minute you see, the next you don't see anything for days cause of the fog. So you can't find your way back and a storm starts and it gets very cold, so there are multiple ways you can die alone.
We have the exact same problem here in Ireland my friend
Same problem in Iceland as well. Foreigners don't respect nature and lose their lives.

Właśnie trafiłem na film o miejscu, które od dłuższego czasu jest na mojej liście must-visit. Surowe piękno i twardzi ludzie. Po obejrzeniu utwierdzam się w przekonaniu, że to jedno z tch marzeń, które trzeba spełnić. Byłem już na Spitsbergenie, ale to będzie chyba jeszcze ciekawsze doświadczenie. Kuba, dziękuję!

Siema, trafilem na ten film przypadkiem, po tym jak z jakiegos powodu pojawil mi sie w proponowanych ten o gosciu z grenlandii. Sztos produkcje, jedynie szkoda ze gdyby nie to w proponowanych, nigdy bym sie o tym kanale nie dowiedzial.

Please note that on Faroe island they kill whales almost every day NOW
Why are they killing this many dolphins?
Please do you know why they are killing so many whales now?From the documentary it seemed to state this was once yearly. Also do you have any more documentaries on this activity or the Islanders or websites etc on this practice please? Thank you

..after having visited Iceland multiple times I just have to visit this.

It is in a very interesting location actually! It is in the middle of a triangle that you can draw between Iceland, Scotland and Norway :) now you can always find it

Myślałem o ucieczce przed babilonem do syberyjskiej tajgi, ale widzę, że wyspy owcze też kuszą. Ergo z przyjemnością dołączyłbym do owej Pani architekt ;)

Świetny materiał... Nie byłem ale tak trochę patrząc jak tam życie się toczy, chyba podobne jest do Tristan da Cuhna... W obu tych miejscach mógłbym żyć... Ale do obu daleko i nie łatwo się dostać... Wysp Owcze posiadają jednak większy potencjał, gdyż wiosek jest więcej jak i ludności a na Tristan tylko jedna osada i mniej niż tysiąć ludzi... a do najbliższego lądu jakieś 2000 km... :/ Zatem Wyspy Owcze wydają się bardziej pociągające... Jedna rzecz, która rzuca mi się w oczy to praktycznie brak drzew... :( To jest smutny widok... Wszystko przez strasznie wietrzny morski, surowy, północny klimat...
Ciekawe czy przyjęłyby się tam nasze "pancerne" sosny, które rosną praktycznie na piasku. Myślę, że w jakiejś wersji short mogłyby dać radę :)
@@gkajtek, jest na Owcach na pewno jakiś na maksa karłowaty gatunek (lub podgatunek?) wierzby, który jednakże płoży się tak nisko, że mógłbyś/mogłabyś nie poznać, że należy botanicznie zaliczyć to do drzew :)

Kjempe flotte Færøyene er mitt deilige/ herlige hjem. Forstod ca 50% av alt som ble sagt på færøysk, hadde jeg aldri trodd. Islendinger derimot...

34:00 nie wiedziałem, że żeby nie chcieć szkodzić drugiemu i kochać innych potrzebna jest wiara. W takim razie w krajach, gdzie religia ma bardzo małe znaczenie albo nie ma jej wcale muszą się strasznie traktować i poziom przestępczości być dosyć wysoki.
