At least in Japan, Haitani is a legend that all players respect. He is considered in the same league as Umehara and Tokido. He has already retired from playing and is now a streamer and commentator for the FGC. In fact, his contribution to the growth of the sf6 player base in Japan is phenomenal. In his stream, he admits that Classic Control is the easier control for him to play, but says that he is trying to spread the word that Modern is not just a beginner's method or easy mode in order to increase the player population and boost the industry. Clearly, Punk's skills were more than Haitani's this time around. However, the way he played this time, suffering from the lack of damage inherent in Modern Control and the burnouts that result from trying to compensate for it, shows that Modern Control is a balanced method of operation, with good and bad aspects. Even though his stream is in Japanese and his career in sf4,5 is not as prominent as it was in sf3, it is really sad that his skills, his gameplay ethics and his dedication to the FGC are being questioned.
What who the heck questioned Haitani? Wasn't he the greatest Vampire Savior player of all time and also the best Makoto across any SF game of all time? The young kids just don't know.
Haitani is a legend here in the US as well. All of the top Japanese players are well respected here. Punk is just really good. Looking forward to seeing more of Haitani in the future.
The human brain's performance at reacting to stimuli peaks at around age 18. From there, our reaction times gradually get slower. There's nothing that can be done to prevent the decline, one can only slow down the rate of decline by staying active and healthy (e.g. good physical fitness improves your nervous system's vagal tone, etc). In most occupations, the decline in reaction time through late middle age is inconsequential. In sports and gaming, where the difference between success or failure is often measured in milliseconds, the diminished performance is significant. You don't need to defend Haitani's reputation. He's 37. It's testament to his (and Tokido's, and Daigo's, etc) greatness that he still has the stuff to make top 6 at EVO. He's nowhere near his peak technical ability at this point of his life, now he's relying mostly on decades of fighting-game experience and savvy.
He blocked me. I can’t even see his matches. Been a fan and I was following him. I was trying to play him in Battle Hub when he was doing random play against fans. When I was up next he rejected then he blocked me so I can’t see any of his matches. Weird because he would kick my ass I’m a diamond 4-5 struggling to master never played in tournaments and I don’t know him from a can of paint. 😂 I get the sense he don’t like Americans maybe? 🤷🏾
There is a bad history in the Japanese SF scene. Due to the lackluster sales promotion and hard game controls in SF5, the influx of new players dropped drastically. As a result, the SF series was on the brink of extinction. However, with SF6, thanks to the dedicated promotional efforts of Capcom, pro players, and streamers, the game is experiencing a resurgence. Haitani stands out as one of the foremost contributors in Japan. He has successfully drawn many beginners to SF6 from other games (e.g., Smash Bros) through his TH-cam channel. Moreover, he continues to encourage and support beginners by playing in the modern mode. His ranking in the TOP 6 has earned praise from both new SF beginners and veteran players who experienced the dark history.
SF is changing from a niche to a game widely accepted thanks to Modern so players in Japan tend to accept Modern. In EVO, there was severe allergy to Modern.😢
As a new player in SF6, Punk's tweets and Twitch comments were reason enough to dislike the fighting game community. Modern's exclusive and one-sided criticisms not only discourage new players who have just started to become interested, but they also create a negative image of the fighting game community. Modern has been adjusted, so it must have its weaknesses. Regardless of which controls are superior, it is offensive why people criticize "M, M" to the exclusion of those points. Now we know why fighting games are going out of business.
Punk on stream and has always said he had no issues with Modern. He just feels like if you're already good at reactions, there may not be a point to use it. That's Legitimately the entire reason a high caliber player would use it, simply for reactionary reasoning. If you're on Modern and don't always capitalize on that it defeats the purpose. Also, you sound soft
>As a new player in SF6, Punk's tweets and Twitch comments were reason enough to dislike the fighting game community. Good. We don't want you here either.
Although Haitani has retired from the professional competitive scene, he is dedicating his efforts to nurturing beginners and ensuring that this game is embraced by newcomers. To showcase the potential of modern, he participated in EVO and successfully achieved his goal. Such words should not be directed towards a man who strives to contribute to the community in this manner.

@invertbrid You don't know?! I SAID Haitani should've stuck with classic controls because PUNK utterly decimated him. I told you a FACT, so how don't you know?! It's not like it was some close matches - the man was utterly wrecked.🤣
@@Wrekkshoppe maybe but i dont think he shouldve even try it. As u know he basically playing entire tournsment, maybe his practice too, in modern control to prepare for this. Never good idea to suddenly change to classic without getting used to it first. Use ur brain smh. Maybe he can later but definitely not so suddenly, after playing tons matched in modern, muscle memory could f him up there. Also i dont think classic would made much difference tbh, he lost not because modern, just coz punk just better than him in this matchup.

Street fighter is breaking records lol. What a dumb take.
No one cares if some random shmuck uses modern mode, people are only really interested what Modern mode can do in top level gameplay.

Punk would be really hurtin he didnt play in the final
"healthy mentality" and Punk should never be in the same sentence, dude is salty when he wins or loses.
Waiting for akuma dlc
I hate Mindless System.
Haitani [M]anco
2nd
Sadly Cammy is just too OP.
Yeah, it's the character and not the player. Nice one
@@xswords not saying it’s not the player. But Cammy is a terrible matchup for a lot of characters.
She's top tier for sure, but not OP.
@@JoeyCentral most players have Cammy and Chun at 5-5
looks like Bronze opinion
Sad to see the only Chun we saw was on Modern p.s. I was glad to see this Modern Controls Chun li lose

Modern controls at EVO? 🤨
Noob Chun-Li was spamming that jumping Lightning Kick for quick overheads, and STILL lost. Oh well... 🤷♂
No honestly it’s embarrassing
Aerial Lightning Kicks isn’t an overhead you goober
Dude that’s one of the gods of third strike/fighting games
Found the scrub commenter
so haitani is a scrub now? 😂 oh lawwd
Modern control sucks lol
Players who are adopted to Modern control lost my respect, especially pros
Nobody cares about the respect of some rando on the internet
Haitani should've stuck with CLASSIC controls, because Punk waxed dat ass😅
Idk he almost smoked everyone with modern entire tournament so yea, even beating tokido
