FUGA PER ORGANO (Fugue for Organ) | Giuseppe Gherardeschi (1759-1815) | by Rien

Yesterday (the 6th of May 2024) was my first day at work after a two weeks vacation. And it was a busy one too! I left the house at 08.00 and was back home around 18:00. After that I had to cook for 5 (I’m the chef in the house…), after diner a nice bike ride with my youngest daughter (she is 5). And finally after everyone was asleep and the house was quiet again, I decided to quickly learn, play and record this piece. It’s a good reset for the wiring in my brain, so that I can begin the next day with a cleaned up internal Hard Disk! I hope you like this beautiful fugue that hovers in between the baroque and romantic era.
For the best listening experience, I recommend using headphones, earbuds, or a hi-fi set. The sound dynamics of the pipe organ are truly remarkable and can be fully appreciated with high-quality audio equipment.

Nothing like a challenge to breed success! You ended your day splendindly. A delightful fugue -- not one I've heard before -- it does seem to have a strong Italian flavor to it . And of course, a very nice circle of fifths that you seem to have a knack for finding!. Nicely played.

I immensely liked this fugue, finding the score and fo9llowing it. It sounds much more difficult than it really is!

Thanks Colin! The challenge at the fugue is to keep the voices clear and well articulated to get a nice Italian uplifting effect that we also know from composers like Zipoli. Not a difficult piece to learn however it sounds pretty advanced indeed.
