      @@tomstravels520 that's... pretty much wrong. When the stab trim switches moved to cutout, it really disable the computer from being able to actuate the trim motor since the motor itself is completely shut down. Even the thumb trim switch on the yoke won't work either after that. You'll have to use your muscle move the stab trim from that point onward which is pretty difficult if you don't workout.

      @@chris22capt “disable the computer from being able to actuate the motor”
      Exactly. But it doesn’t turn off the MCAS computer. You can’t turn off MCAS and still have powered trim by yoke or autopilot. All you’ve done is prevent MCAS from being able to move the stabiliser but you’ve also taken away your own ability to move the stabiliser except manually. There is no “MCAS OFF” switch in the cockpit.

    Does anyone can tell me what is fuel consumption, approximately, for Boeing 737 same as is used by the Ryanair, last time I booked my fly from Dublin to Fuertaventura on the Ryanair website they said my carbon footprint on this fly is about 360 KG PER PERSON which is totally about 80 TONNES if the plane is full of passengers, how is it possible to generate 360 KG of the carbon footprint per person, what is the fuel consumption, is it per hour or depend from the distance, how did they count it?

      It was corporate greed that ruined this plane, if they didn't hide the major flaws of the MCAS and getting too comfortable with the FAA to cut some corners....these incidents wouldn't happen....as it is, this happens, the sad part is that it took two tragedies and China to get Boeing's attention on this situation....

      @dynasty0019 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup, it's the Boeing standard display configuration now. The 777X will also have it.

    • @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk.
      @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are still some differences betwen the 737 and 787/777x displays. You have a simple Compass Card on the 737 (10:20) instead of a mini map like on the 787/777x. On the 787/777x you have an Airport Map Display at ranges of 5 NM or less on the MFD and full system schematics. Also all ACARS and CPDLC functions are controlled on the MFD unlike the 737 wich are controlled trought the CDU. There is a 787 cockpit video on this channel that you can watch to compare.

    Very nice overview - thanks!
    07:47 onward highlights critical difference in electrical trim. At least as fas as I've read and understood.
    On the NG these 'STAB TRIM' cuttouts 08:33 clearly separates control of electrical trim for pilot and automatics ('MAIN ELEC' and 'AUTOPILOT').
    It's not clearly shown on the Max picture, but those switches are redesigned as simply a 'PRI' and "B/U' for the same circuit/function - disabling or enabling electric trim access for BOTH pilots AND automatics _at the same time._
    Once shut off, only the manual crank is available - impossible to move under maximum load in flight. That is unless you have several thousand feet of spare altitude to unload by 'roller coaster' descent method.
    Seems like a pretty major step in reducing a pilot's ability to take control from the automation while still having full access to powered assist moving a crucial flight surface??
    Anyway, again great videos👍

    • @dynasty0019
      @dynasty0019 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The STAB CUTOUT switches, despite being labeled differently in the MAX, literally does the same exact thing since the -100. Nothing's changed in that department. Once you hit the switches, there's no more electronic stabilizer trim, only manual cranking, and that goes for ALL models of the 737.

    • @damonreynolds6775
      @damonreynolds6775 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dynasty0019 I don't believe that is accurate. A simple search will show anyone multiple sources detailing the differences far beyond mere labeling vis a vis MCAS introduction to existing STS functionality.

    Can the MAX APU door open during the flight?

    • @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk.
      @Capt.Ho.Lee.Fuk. 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the APU air inlet door has 3 positions, closed, flight open (approximately 17 degrees) and ground open (approximately 45 degrees).

    Forgive a layman’s ignorant question: there seem to be an awful lot of gears, joints, cables, tubes, levers, doors, flaps, etc., for retracting the wheels, not to mention the space wasted to hide the wheels in the wing which could be used for more fuel. Does retracting the undercarriage really make all that much difference to range and flight characteristics? Is the trade off worth it?

    • @RobT_Cockpit_videos
      @RobT_Cockpit_videos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does, the landing gear creates an extremely high amout of drag, is almost like a boat anchor but in the air. as an example: on the Airbus A320 to fly with the landing gear down has a fuel penalty of 180%! meaning that it requires almost twice the fuel you need to fly with the landing gear up!
      About the wasted space, it is not really that much, with the landing gear up and adult person can barely fit in that space.

    • @AmbientMorality
      @AmbientMorality 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just adding on - there was an A310 incident flight a long time ago where landing gear failed to retract and the flight crew attempted to reach their destination. They only made it about 70% of the planned distance and crash-landed (fortunately no deaths or major injuries) near the divert airport runway.
