@@evelynomalley9651 it’s so hard to find good tasting stuff. He did not like that cashew cheese I showed. We still need to try the babybel one. I have some others to try but Trader Joe’s doesn’t carry the other brands
For your son, try Chao brand plant-based cheese and Miyoko's Kitchen who has a website and sells through some of the better markets as well. More of a selection on the website though. A lot of the plant-based cheeses are gross, but these are very good. Also, Kite Hill sells cream cheese, yogurts, etc that are very good.
@@SukiAwake thank you for the wonderful recommendations. I recently heard good things about the chao cheese. I’ll definitely try that and the others as well. He did not like the TJ’s cashew cheese at all
cardamom is used in Turkish coffee shops. I have had it made fresh almost like a spicy (not chili hot spicy but flavorful) espresso with a little foam cap on the top. Sip it like an espresso or sipping chocolate which is more bitter and thicker than most hot cocoa. Once you decide you like cardamom try adding it into baked goods like cakes and cookies and in cooking (it's used in Indian savory dishes and rice pudding). Green and black Cardamom taste different. In most cases I use black. The green tastes a bit like sweet eucalyptus and herbaceous which is good in sweet pastries and the black is like slightly smoky and rich and deep, good for curries, etc. The black is the one I used in coffee. The green can be used in teas. These spice pods are used similarly to cinnamon, clove, ginger, nutmeg, mace, etc.
Poor Tristan :( I understand about GI issues and food allergies/sensitivities. I think eliminating dairy will really help him. I don't think Trader Joe's carries this brand but I enjoy the Violife dairy free products. I believe it's a vegan brand as well. And just a side note, I have been lactose intolerant since I was a child as well as gluten/wheat sensitive but ghee does not seem to bother me. I use it for cooking or to top toast, etc and even though it's "clarified butter" the way they make it removes the lactose so it usually works for people who are avoiding dairy.
@@laurafitzsimmons6548 thank you for the wonderful suggestions. They are very helpful. My Costco just started carrying some organic ghee so I might pick that up and give it a try
My son is also dairy free. He’s been for a while so if you have any products that you’re trying to find that are good dairy free, let me know. I’ll share what we use!
My daughter was having severe Gi problems and her pediatrician suggested we switch to lactose free products. Game changer especially for milk, cheese and yogurt alternatives. No diarrhea since we changed
Do your kids eat the same food you make for you and your husband? I know your husband likes spicy. Didn’t know if the kids ate spicy also. And I do know your son has a lot of allergies and has to be gluten-free and egg free.
It depends on what I’m making. I would say half the week we all eat the same thing. Pizza or enchiladas for example. I have gluten free crust or GF tortillas I use for Tristen’s portion of the dinner. Other things that are spicy or I know he doesn’t like I make him his own dinner and my daughter can pick between the two dinners what she wants to eat. She does like spicy food and usually eats a little of both.

Just went to TJ yesterday and saw the new Teriyaki bowl and can't wait to taste it!
I love cardamom anything 🎉
I love their pizza dough too.
Love the pumpkin Hold the Cones!
The spicy pumpkin samosas are my favorite ❤
Poor Tristan! Hope you find out what exactly he should avoid so he can know what foods he can try.
Absolutely know what you mean about dairy free my daughter is dairy free and hard to find tasty substitutes

I like their orange chicken bowl. I guess they are trying to make a quick microwave version of their popular frozen foods. Thank you Amanda.

That’s too bad about the teriyaki bowl, I was excited for it but now I won’t bother trying it. Thanks for the info!
Is the tartar sauce good or does it have a "fake" flavor?
Thank you Amanda this is so helpful, do you know if the tamales have cheese? I'm making my list and going to TJs in a couple of hours.

Has your son been diagnosed as lactose intolerant by a physician? Or are you just trying different things while he remains in discomfort?
