Sounds great. Is this all tube version on the website? Nice job.

Yes. This is the latest slo preamp with 3 tubes. The first one had 4 or 5. Thnx

Why did you decide to go down to 3 as opposed to including the stage after the fx loop? I assume its because you didnt include the tone stack after to attenuate it but I've noticed a lot of slo preamp clones with eq use 3 too. Why do you think they leave it out? Also, do you usually rely on reaper's eq? How do you play it live? Sounds good btw, thanks for the info on the website.

@@tjns3 I think that most of the tone comes from the first 3 tubes. It's everything before the FX loop, so most of the distortion should already be there. I once built a 4-tube version of this preamp that has both the FX loop send and return buffers daisy chained, without having an actual FX loop. It had maybe a bit more gain and saturation...but the 3-tube version has plenty of gain for my needs.

@@tjns3 as for the EQ, it works really nicely with an EQ pedal placed after. I have an MXR 10 band that works well even at 9V supply, doesn't clip the signal. 18V would give even more headroom. But I have modified the output from the last buffer to be less hot than the original SLO, no need for signal that high.

@@Diy-fever Awesome, thank you. I went through both builds on your site, good stuff! I'd like to build a box like this but include a bypass so I could use it as another channel via my amp's fx loop like the synergy stuff. I'm going to do some layouts first then post em up.
