Thank you so much! I really appreciate this comment because for the most part there’s a plethora of different fish and plants that you can catch and gather within city limits that people either turn there nose up to or have no clue it’s there so thank you again for this comment and subscribing, good luck on your next trip! Tight lines!

    Great job
Just a tip for next time, try cooling the rice a little bit and add rice vinegar and sugar (or if u have a Japanese store near by you can get sushi vinegar) and mix in the vinegar after the rice is almost cooled off. That way the nori won’t get all shriveled after u put the rice on top. But overall great job!

Same here those bonito are a real treat😋I’ll be hitting the wedge early in the morning for the big ones once they start showing up!

Try using a casting egg and feather rig aka splasher rig from the jetty to get bonito. I’ve been nailing them all summer with that rig. Top surface rig, so you won’t need to worry about getting snagged up on the retrieve.

I’ve seen people do that before I’ll make sure to try again with that method! I rarely target them most of the time I’ve caught them have been on the iron or small jigs but yeah I heard people get the really big ones using the float tactic!

Is there always Bonito and mackerel or is there seasons when they come ??

There’s always mackerel but the bonito seem to start showing up early June-July and turn on full speed in August-October but after that it’s rare to see them at the pier. A lot of guys have been doing really good at the jetty going at high tide early in morning using jigs and live bait!!!

You didn't freeze macks ??? Man ... It must have parasites ... You gatta freeze them at least 3 days to kill those parasites for sashimi Sushi

Freezing it completely solid in the freezer does kill the parasites and their eggs but it ruins the meat for sashimi in terms of texture so I just eat it fresh and check it thoroughly for any type of parasites. Not once have I gotten sick in the many times I’ve eaten it so don’t be afraid to eat it fresh if your confident in checking for parasites good luck and tight lines
