A 40 lb. bag of mushroom compost lasts two weeks. It costs me $4 at Lowe's. It costs me about $120 a year or so to feed my seven worm bins. I also feed them our used coffee grounds and tea bags.🪱🪱🪱
309, as of me, subscribing. I have been talking for years and years about setting up a stand next to Pueblo Res. for a retirement job. (edit: a worm bait stand). I guess my phone finally heard me! Got lots of questions coming from me in the future, need to catch up on your operation stuff!
@davidemazzotti1419 I don't have any fly problems since I stopped adding all sorts of different food scraps. I found that simplifying the diet cuts out all the unwanted insects. In my experience, over feeding food scraps is what always caused my previous infestations of flies. I haven't tried it, but captain Matt of worm people, he has a TH-cam channel, says he uses BT mixed in a sprayer, and that keeps the flies out of his bins. I hope this helps. Great question!
@bhsbass Yep! I'm harvesting castings tomorrow. I should be able to get a few inches out of each one plus the bottom pan. 🪱🪱🪱Thank you for commenting!🪱🪱🪱
@benkermen8360 Good question! Well, it helps with leaning over to dig and count the worms if their not deeper down in the bin, it's easier on my back. It's extremely full at the moment also because I need to harvest some of the castings. Which I plan on doing tomorrow. Possibly today if I have time. Thanks again for the question!

How do you deal with flies? With the holes on top they have easy access and I usually get a ton of them. Please advice.
