yeah, exactly. without imitating at all but still not "spoiling" them but only adding new "flavour" them..... i love the singing very much. i sing most of these songs too but i can't play the guitar so well .... my big respect and true appreciation of this good job !
Jethro Tull - that means the highest musical level, which "Minstrel In The Gallery" made its unmistakable mark in 1975. "Baker Street Muse" is one of the most complex and eclectic long works of rock that I know. Incredibly brilliant how you implemented this work here totally unplugged and thus paid tribute to one of the best rock bands of all time in an absolutely impressive way! Greetings from Germany!
Snoozedoctor does a very nice cover as well. Would have been tough for Tull to play live, just the complexity and all the time changes. Plus it's tough to sing, play acoustic and flute all at the same time! Great job here.
I love playing and singing all the shorter acoustic Tull Stuff (Wond'ring Aloud, Mother Goose, etc), but I can't imagine I could remember all those chord changes and fills, while singing along to it. Bravo to you, my friend, for being about to do it live, in one take. Utmost respect.
I have been an absolute Jethro Tull fan for over 50 years - When I came across your site, I was immediately enthusiastic - I have heard all Tull pieces a hundred times. Your interpretations are simply ingeniously close to the original. Instrumentally and vocally absolutely brilliant. Sorry for my "Google English" Peter - Old Man from Germany
Amazing. The voice, the guitar and the tiny arrangements make this single-instrument cover sound complete. For a long time, I've wanted to make a version of this song, and I never expected anyone to upload a complete cover of it. This video is very inspiring, and this playlist is a blessing - I will definitely come back to it for years to come.
Was listening to this vinyl last night. I remembered this channel and wondered if you did a cover version. Indeed! And beautiful as usual! Dedicate separate lesson videos, please🙏
You are the minstrel in the gallery. Brillant, epic, awesome !!! I really hope that somnole will make Ian Anderson know about your marcevelous rendering of his songs, this one being probably the most difficult. And to me one of the three best JT songs ever. Chapeau bas, as we say in French.
Fantastic! I can't believe you played the whole thing! This was wonderful! Truly one of Ian Anderson's greatest compositions, and you absolutely did it justice! Also I'm so impressed you're able to play all of this with no mistakes that I could notice (except the intentional one in the beginning). Bravo!
Stewart, that was so damn okay!!! I play a little guitar and have learned a few Tull songs, but I can't imagine even beginning to attempt that masterpiece. Coincidentally, I've been revisiting the Minstrel in the Gallery album and that song in particular and saw your amazing performance! Thank you for taking the time to learn it and share it with us! Love your Dun Ringill too!
Listening to your version is just like listening to the record. There's nothing that i miss, because the other instruments (incl. the Glockenspiel) are in my head. :-) Great cover. Chapeau.
This is a master piece of a cover, man. Congratulations. ¿Have you considered the idea of making some tutorials of these songs? Starting with this one, please. Thanks a lot.
Splendid. I must say that your work comes as something of a revelation. Not only do I sit amazed at your skill and artistry, I now hear and appreciate the source material with greater depth and dimension after many decades. Thank you.
Hi Stewart. Just discovered your channel today. I'm a massive Tull fan and also play guitar. That was one brilliant performance and i look forward to catching up with all your vids. Hopefully will pick up some tips along the way. You should be very proud of yourself. I'm sure Ian would approve. Thank you from all the Tull fans everywhere.
Brilliant! I was expecting just the opening tune, not the whole song. Was surprised and gratified that this was so clean and on target. Really appreciated the nuanced picking throughout. Thanks again for a great song!
That was incredible! I can only imagine the time that went into reenacting that unheralded masterpiece from Jethro Tull. I quite liked it your way-completely acoustic. I always loved the acoustic aspects of the Tull original - but found the electric chords to be a little harsh; like they got in the way of an amazing song, instead of adding to it. So I welcomed your completely acoustic, solo version. Very well done, and very much appreciated.
Dude, I just came home from a hard shift... This has filled my heart with good things, don't even know where to start! I was actually listening to Minstrell (my favourite album) and strumming along, and when it came to this song I went on youtube to see if anyone had made any covers lately... obviously, you came up. I've been trying for years to do a cover of this whole piece, but it never comes out quite right. Well, quite like this, tbh... You've nailed it perfectly, Ian would love it I'm sure =) I was aiming for something like this. Amazing guitar skills, simple and smooth, very fluid and great feeling, very well sung. Brilliant! Well done, mate.
Great touch reproducing the beginning - except that it’s three “shits”, not 2. :-) Well done. Given the length and movement of this song, I can imagine it took quite a while to get it down.
Did I hear you actually say 'I hope that was ok'?? OMG that was masterfully done. You capture every nuance of the music and lyrical/vocal cadence. Your ear is beyond impressive. BSM is an opus! You nailed it!!
I love how ian throws the blue note around in this piece so judiciously. So effective. Such a melody. At 16 minutes its a hard boat to row but it is what it has to be.
Excellent! I can't believe you learned the whole thing! This is one of my favorite Tull songs. My dad is the biggest Tull Fan that there is. I was rocked to sleep as a baby to everything Tull. My favorite albums are Minstrel In the Gallery, A, Songs From The Wood, and of course Heavy Horses. Nightcap is really good too. I mean their all good, lol. Martin Barre is literally the most underrated guitar player in history. I'm sure he gets more appreciation in Europe, in the states he's virtually unknown.
Amazing guitar work!! That opening riff sounds like a tricky guitar lick to play. Even your first take sounds incredibly cool to me. Good for you for restarting and making it perfect. Amazing song!
Bravo Stewart! Just when I think I've learned all the Tull songs I need for my repertoire...You just slayed that notion. I put together a medley about 12 years ago: "Skating Away", Thick as a Brick" and "Aqualung" and was quite pleased with myself. Recently I learned "Mother Goose" and just now got "Salamander" almost ready to share. I mention this because I understand the dedication and love for the music that is required to learn and do justice to this fine music. Seriously. Hats off to you! I haven't even started filming and uploading my own renditions of these yet, as I've been focused on my own music. But you have inspired me to start putting these out on the Tube. Thank you for that. I first saw Jethro Tull live in 1976 or '77 and it absolutely changed my perception of music - and my life.
This is absolutely amazing. I assume this is a very difficult song to perform, but you did it wonderfully. You seem to have a great amount of knowledge of odd and rare information on Tull . I was thinking maybe you could explain why they never performed this live, at least I don't think they ever did. I've seen them 44 times in concert, and I don't recall them ever playing this live. I think it would have been awesome if they had. If you have any information on that, I'd love to hear it thanks for all your covers of these great songs. No one does them better than you.
Thank you William. I know that around 2010 or so, the band considered doing it live, and even started to practice it. I think Ian’s voice problems meant it soon became clear it wasn’t doable. More generally, after 1973, the band moved away from very very long pieces of music live.
@@DailySporran There's so many great songs we didn't get to ever hear live... at least we did get to enjoy the albums... and now we get to enjoy your talent and hard work.. thank you sir... if you're ever in the bay area California... fine dining is on me.
This is close to my favorite Tull song, and even Jethro Tull doesn't cover it! As far as I know they have never played it live. Thanks! What an incredibly hard song to play, especially as a solo. OUTSTANDING!!! you even did the silly intro and outro!
That was epic Stuart. Uncanny...I listened to this album last night whilst preparing dinner. I don’t play it a lot as the rest of the house is allergic to some of the atonal discordant passages. Being the masterpiece that it is, I was wondering if you’d attempt this song and discarded the notion, thinking it too long when delivering daily interpretations. And yet here we are. Superb. So impressive.
@@DailySporran hah, must have been frustrating :) Tull is one of my favourite bands but I never bothered to learn much of their material on guitar because of the lack of accurate tabs available... now I finally can :)))
The take two was great 😂. I never seen this song played live. This is amazing. This is some of the best acoustic guitar work from Tull. Who plays the acoustic guitar in this song Anderson or Barre? Sounds like Anderson's style but I am not sure...But this is an amazing cover. I used to always play this song on my Spanish guitar but I can't play the beginning nearly as good as this gent
10:10 section is simply interesting arrangement and it makes me wonder the genius the feel,, Ian Anderson mixed major and minor so expertly love to work on this tune,, it;s like a story like reading a good fret board ..haha ty mr.Stewart Wood
Great work.. this is my favorite jethro till’s song..
Stewert Woods Tull covers Currie my brain
Great. My favorite Tull song.
I am amazed, He is singing and playing These Songs so purely and clearly without imitating Ian Anderson ...
Thanks so much Arnold. Glad you enjoyed it.
yeah, exactly. without imitating at all but still not "spoiling" them but only adding new "flavour" them..... i love the singing very much. i sing most of these songs too but i can't play the guitar so well .... my big respect and true appreciation of this good job !
From someone who has been playing guitar for almost 50 years, and has been a Tull fanatic for longer than that - this is brilliant.
One of my favorite Jethro Tull songs and you cover it phenomenally Stuart.
much love, Stewart. what an inspiration

Yes he is amazing - he bleeds Tull blood.
I agree Stefan!!!
Völlig korrekt. MfG aus Berlin 👍
Hey Mr Stefan, very well said ... thanks
Ditto !
Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
Thank You,Thank you ,THANK YOU!!!!!
This is the only live version of this song that I know of.
I know! Shame, this would’ve been a great one to do live.
And the best by far.
Snoozedoctor does a very nice cover as well. Would have been tough for Tull to play live, just the complexity and all the time changes. Plus it's tough to sing, play acoustic and flute all at the same time! Great job here.

Really kind of you Matt, thanks
One of my absolute favorites of Jethro Tull. As a fellow guitar player, I say well Done!
Great job there, very difficult piece to master, well done
Outstanding
What a gift! Thank you!
Let me just say this. It is such a darn joy to have you in our Tull world. What a marvelous player you are.
Ah thanks Mike
Thanks. I've never heard this played by anyone but Tull. It is a favorite and a very complex song. I guess that's why nobody has tried it before.
fucking awesome earmeal dude brilliant , probably only us Tull fans would get , rock on you do them proud
Outstanding!!!!..tricky song but u nailed it!!!
I never get tired of your rendition of this song. Amazing!
WOW. Covering the entire Baker St. Muse song. All 16+ minutes. What a feat !!!! And beautiful guitar work too. WOW again. GREAT JOB Stewart.
Thanks so much Paul. Do let your friends know (if you have any friends who like Tull - sadly I dont, though I've made many through this channel)

I am absolutely blown away. Amazing job. Thanks for sharing this!
Awesome! The song is like an entire set!
Subscribed, you may not have intended it but you are now my new guitar teacher when it comes to Tull.
Wow Stewart, you just made my Day perfect with your superb Version of Ian Anderson' s masterpiece Baker St. Muse!!! You realy touched me.

I love it! Specially the fact that is your own version, your own voice, not an imitation. Congrats!

You are so amazing
