Ondine disappears in the ending “ripples”. Every note in that piece is perfection in writing and musically conveys the poem!
I always found Ondine to be very seductive, it's harmonies and mood is completely perfect, written by Ravel and perfectly taken from Bertrand's poem

At 9:00 I've always felt that the lone melody right before the Ondine loses her s* represents the whole exchange of her inviting him to be with her and him refusing. It embodies the sad, somber tone of it.
I've also considered that the section just proceeding the lone melody is her plea and the lone melody could sort of be her internal reaction as he refuses her.

I don't know if anyone here's ever had sleep paralysis but I'm pretty sure Scarbo is a sleep paralysis demon. I've only had it once or twice in my life but my kid and my older brother have it chronically and it sounds pretty terrifying.

Would you put effort to correct the”Paris” when English speakers pronounced it?
Indeed it's pronounced "gaspar", the D is silent. And Gibet is "jeebai" (without d as in Jesus, and without final t).
Do people have any idea how this pianist COMPLETELY IGNORED almost 75 percent of Ravel's pp and ppp markings? Not only ignored them, but blatantly changed them to downright f and ff. Awful. Shame on him.
Ok first of all, if every single pianist known followed the score exactly the way it was, there wouldn’t be an interpretation that would stand out. Variety through performances wouldn’t exist, it would all be the same thing. It’s his interpretation, and if you don’t like it, leave. Find another pianist who actually follows the score idk. 🤷
Oh good lord. He can play the piece, but he can't pronounce it. This interview should have been erased and started anew with correct pronunciation. It's unacceptable. The final consonants pronounced? Really Cliburn? You couldn't do this over?

My brother in Christ he is Chinese speaking English trying to pronounce the title of the piece in French
This is the type of snobbery that classical music is famous for. Who cares how it’s pronounced. Is anyone really offended? Should Buddy Bray re-record his pronunciation of Mr Zhangs name? Because that was horrible. Oh wait, we know that Mr Bray isn’t a native Chinese speaker so NOBODY CARES! 😂

@@nacht7835I don't seek to boost my ego. Pronunciation is important. The guy speaks fluent English. It was the pronunciation of the second movement. You're the snob, not I. This brilliant pianist studied at Curtis and now he is touring all over the world. He shouldn't be pronouncing famous masterpieces incorrectly. What don't you understand about that?
