not really.. i lease bc i don’t have to worry about it breaking down or paying thousands for something breaking and i’ll always have a new car. i’d definitely recommend it
@@samanthamills8899 By breaking down, you mean warranty? All cars have that, usually first 4 years or 40k, whichever comes first. But when you lease a car, your insurance is way higher. And if it gets scratched up, you pay fees at the end for every little scratch. And no matter how careful you are, people park around you so its going to happen. Also, if you go over the yearly mileage, there's a fee for that. So its definitely something you have to think about.
Wrong. You can apply your payments towards buying the car. You also have to be smart on what maker your car is. Some make more sense than others because they keep their value.

Hearing about your college story has helped me put my mind at ease. I'm stuck where I don't know if I should transfer home or not, but if I do I could save SOO much money. After college the last thing anyone wants is to be put in debt. And yes bigger schools get decent internships, but if you work your butt off you could still land a really good job.
Monica, just wanted to ask...are you going to make the "first time" video as you had said in your "assumptions" video, as a follow up to your birth control video? Would love to hear you talk about it, because I feel you are really good at covering real topics! Edit- my comments never get seen or liked by Monica 😭
I have never regretted purchasing a book, sometimes I'll buy one just to support the author. I also love buying art, it never goes to waste because it sets the tone for my space and marks it as mine. I also bought a headboard that is iron and has a more intricate design, I had always wanted one and now I have a real solid bed set that I can take with me if I move.
Thanks for the s/o Monica! We think choosing a community college is a pretty smart purchase too, and it definitely allows students to tailor their education to fit their needs. Just a reminder to anyone watching: there are always new classes starting at OCC, with 4-, 8- and 16-week options available.
As an adult who recently splurged and got braces, I REALLY needed to hear those words about your orthodontic treatment and that it directly links to your happiness! I got mine put on earlier this year (Invisalign wasn't an option for me because my teeth are so badly crooked), and the straightening process, since they have a lot of moving to do, has been painful enough that I often regret doing it. So it's really good to hear that it'll all be worth it in the end. Thank you for those words! Also, I've heard that it's actually better to get orthodontic treatment as an adult. I know people who have needed braces twice because they got them way too early in life the first time. Knowing that is just another thing that gets me through each day. :)
I’m 22 about about to graduate with my bachelors of science. But photography has always been a hobby of mine and I never really thought I could make that a career...but watching Monica really makes me want to pursue it more. ❤️
I spent a solid 2 years obsessing over a new camera. Finally got one and I am so excited about it! If there's something you find yourself always thinking about, then it will probably end up being a worth while purchase!
I'm just turning 21 this year. I feel like I don't buy a lot... I'm always sooo hesitant financially. But since I've turned 20, I've done a few things. 1) I technically put my loan money towards my travel course for a mini, study abroad trip to Australia (the lab portion). Yeah, I'll have to pay it back when I'm out of college, but it's been a highlight of my life so far. All the things I got to see and all the things I got to eat, wre 100% worth it. 2) I had to commute this year to my college and I have had a habit of just using my former backpacks or my sister's former backpacks for the school year. So I finally got myself a new backpack (northface jester) that had more back padding so my books and laptop wouldn't dig into my spine anymore. It's more comfortable, really durable and I can fit so much commuter related items in it besides school stuff. I intend to have it for years to come.
So true! I feel everything you're saying. In life you just got to scratch those itches and experience everything. Then only, we can move on. Nothing wrong with that!
1. My education (also went to community college first, 0 debt!) 2. My mattress (I sleep a full 7 hours now) my first major purchase of my 20's! 3. Memory foam pillow (No more neck kinks!) 4. A good phone (2 years of reliable service) 5. An Otterbox phone case 6. My used car (Toyota baby!) 7. A used Ethan Allen Couch (Like new without the giant designer price tag!) So comfortable, worth every penny!)
every other financial planning TH-camr says to buy a car in full and AVOID LEASING. guys dont do it, she has the means to meanwhile most of us dont. Save and buy your car used- at the end of the day its okay to just have a reliable ass 06 civic to get you from point A-B
I love this! I stopped buying materialistic stuff early on in my life and I can feel the weight falling off from my shoulder. During that transition, I began investing in things that brought joy and values.

Im only 22 so I feel like Im just in that area of just out of college, not yet in like a "career" job, and paying off loans. So I feel like I have not gotten to that point of allowing myself/being ABLE to make many higher purchases. But out of the purchases I have made I would say that - My Computer- I do animation and bought a $3000 computer, the convenience of being able to get my work done from home was worth it alone, but also other reasons - My education- Right now with loan repayments, I dont super appreciate it all the time, but I do think its worth it for many reasons. - My trip to Vancouver- first time traveling completely alone, and going somewhere I didnt know anyone. Stayed in a hostel, had some fun experiences - Bartending school- $500, it was a bucket list thing I have always wanted to do even just for fun, it was fun, but now Im going to bartend while I interview for "real" jobs I think thars it really for now so far
This showed up as recommended video... Figured why not, see what the 7 awesome purchases were. Didn't expect to leave feeling inspired. Good video / channel.
1. Plane tickets (France, AUS/NZ, Japan) ✈️ 2. Boosted Board 3. Gifts for my family and boyfriend 😊 4. An espresso machine ☕️ 5. Exercise class pass (for spinning & barre) 6. A French Textbook 🤓 7. A national park year pass
1. Setting up a Roth IRA and investing in a low risk, long term mixed portfolio. 2. Buying vintage luxury items (such as designer bags or 24K gold jewellery) since it will retain its value, is such a joy for me to own and is a sustainable shopping choice. 3. Investing back into yourself: healthy food, travel, culture and fitness 💃
I've found your channel today and I"m obsessed. I first found you bf cheating on you video and then all these other videos of you living it up and being driven and successful. And i've always wanted an Audi so I should get it. Watching you makes me feel less depressed about loving someone who doesn't love me back and trying to move on with life.
I am the same with designer stuff! Once I got my designer wallet (not even real designer, more of lower-end designer), I stopped shopping for wallets, it still holds after 5 years, actually saved me a ton of money in the long run.
This is soo true. Idk how to explain to ppl when I bought like branded things & they’d be questioning me why I bought such stuff. Now that I watch ur vid, that’s exactly how i felt!!
Sam S Yeah, she is. Because it’s her life and her priorities. What is the point of judging someone for prioritizing and reflecting on their own life? If a girl likes her car, cool! if a girl likes her school, awesome! Why can’t we all just cheer each other on.
To all the “accountants” out there with negative comments about her leasing the Audi....well if you think about it sometimes you just want something for the pleasure / happiness it provides and that doesn’t necessarily have to be measured quantitatively in dollars. Your buying an experience as much as anything else.
it’s so weird when i hear girls saying that every other girl has designer bags, shoes, clothes, etc. i never notice girls wearing designer anything. maybe it’s because of where i live (new orleans) or just because i literally pay so little attention to designers that i wouldn’t be able to recognize it anyway. to keep a long story short, i don’t think i would ever buy designer unless i found it for really cheap at a tj maxx, marshalls, or a thrift store.
I turned 20 in feb and I just feel behind. Most people have their licence, car and freedom also a job which gives them enough money to move out. The only big purchases I have made is travel which I brought out of my savings that I have saved up since 15 that is 2 overseas trips I would love to travel for work somehow one day but I feel like it’s never gonna happen. But after the travel I don’t have that much money left I have no one to teach me how to drive and lessons are $60-70. I know one of the big factors is that I don’t believe in myself and don’t have a support system but idk how to gain that. I would love to do TH-cam you are definitely one of the you tubers I look up to love your style of videos. I just don’t know how to get out of this rut. (Ariana grande helps me to cope she is my everything I love her music)
Monica you always surprise and delight me when I watch your content!! You’re so genuine and relatable compared to other youtubers in the lifestyle niche. Love ya lady 💜
considering they pay monthly, I don't think she bought her out, I think Shelby probably stopped paying for it and Monica took over the whole cost each month. They also have another car in LA that Shelby has, and I think if they owned that one than Shelby probably bought Monica out for that one. Thats what I would ASSUME.
Hi Monica I have been watching your MLC and Monica Church TH-cam but in this one I now understand you went to colleage and learn how to be a videographer and cool taking photo's I told my niece about you how you inspire your millenials peers. Good for you and thanks for inspiring others.
I picked up a 2018 Audi S5 and I'm 28 years old. I have the opposite feeling... got to move on to an RS model next lol (bought used, I'm paying less than $500/month and it's financed).
I remember when you first got the new camera. You were renting it and were iffy about it before using it but ended up really liking it. You’ve come so far 😊
I'm late to the party but have been enjoying many of your videos. I totally get what you mean about the satisfaction of owning and not using up brain space and energy thinking about your wants. Yeah, you spent a lot leasing, but it was a smart purchase because you're spending in your means, AND it's better to spend $35k now rather than maybe $25k but then another $25 and more and more because you didn't get the one experience that's been taking up headspace for so long. If you have the money to burn then burn baby burn. You seem pretty down to earth and responsible so treat yourself this one time. Literally one time bc you're satisfied now.
So your response to having a luxury item and being content is a rare. Millennials just want and want and want. So just a difference in perspective. Not sure about how others relate to the things mentioned other then education, teeth, and/or business related matters. All good, just different lifestyles.
This is my exact list! So many of these things are things I wanted to have for such a long time... the designer bag, car, trips and especially my teeth. Really I would have not expected you to feel the same way about your teeth, it really makes you happy just getting most of these things and finally knowing you could get them on your own!🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
Omg i didn’t know you went to OCC! I went there to do my GE’s and transferred after 2 years. They have a great film department at OCC, I’m glad you loved it!!
Would say I like your whole points of this video, and your mindset! unlike other TH-camrs who just have been correcting a number of designer bags, calling them just 'black bag, beige bag, etc' to trick viewers!.
You seem incredibly materialistic. Your 20s should be a time in which you set yourself up for good money habits. Instead of throwing away money on a $600 a month car lease, you could be investing or building an emergency fund.
I felt the same way about buying my car! I purchased a 2012 Kia Soul last June for roughly 13,000. My payment is 250 a month for a 72 month lease but I’ll be done paying my car off this November. I’m super happy with my purchase and no longer feel like omg look at that car or look at that car. I bought a car instead of leasing one just because it made more sense economically to me and I also got a good deal. It sucks paying interest and a monthly payment but I’m almost done so it’s worth it. I feel the same about my designer bag too. Once I bought one that I loved I really have no interest in buying another or having multiple. It just wouldn’t bring me any satisfaction lol but I did want to say I don’t agree about the community college and connections thing. I went to community college and it’s really just about how much work you put into it. I hustled my butt off to get some of the top internships in TV production. I didn’t know anyone. Didn’t ask anyone for help or an in. I also landed all of my jobs in tv myself. So I think it’s just how much you want it and how much you’re willing to work for it. People hear the name of my school and they know nothing about it but it didn’t matter because of my attitude and work ethic.
THANK YOU for this video. I'm so glad you were so real about your purchases and didn't pull out some huge crystal and yap on about all that gratefulness bs
This is amazing and unexpected. My fiance and I just got engaged in Seattle last week! We don't at all regret the money we spent (we live in NC so it was a big trip for us). We also loved Seattle!

The perspective on college is so wise. More young people need to hear this.
3 months of grinding. Way to go Monica! Really informative video.
why are u and ur sister so down to earth...need more ppl like that in the world
Materialistic things will never satisfy anyone in life. Just like money. Learn to love with what you have and focus on the present and everything else with come in place of its right!:)
Tim & Laima totally agree! I’m in my 20s and pretty financially stable....for the first time in my life. I let myself buy material items bc i could and thought it would make me happy. It didn’t. Now i haven’t started any savings and am never satisfied by any material item - there’s always something new to want!
If you don’t have enough food because of lack of money then it’s hard to really “learn to love what you have”
@@BaileyBlurbs there’s always ways you can get by. Trust me. That’s why you work harder and smarter! My dad raised 10 of us with a minimum wage job most of his life and we got by just fine with food stamps and living minimal. That’s hard now a days because of social media.. of course! Buy learn to trust God. Hard times are coming for sure! I mean even now! Food and housing are so high, it’s going to be hard for everyone eventually I believe. But take it how you want too! I’ll be praying for you💓
Hearing about your college story has helped me put my mind at ease.
Def going to!
@@MonicaChurch Awesome!! Can't wait!
I think the idea that we fixate on something, and once that desire is fulfilled we let things go. Good food for thought.
21,600 on a car lease. To each of its own💁🏼♀️
Cameron Bailey to buy my 2016 Honda it was under $24,000.... lol
So true! I feel everything you're saying. In life you just got to scratch those itches and experience everything. Then only, we can move on. Nothing wrong with that!
1. My education (also went to community college first, 0 debt!)
2. My mattress (I sleep a full 7 hours now) my first major purchase of my 20's!
3. Memory foam pillow (No more neck kinks!)
4. A good phone (2 years of reliable service)
5. An Otterbox phone case
6. My used car (Toyota baby!)
7. A used Ethan Allen Couch (Like new without the giant designer price tag!) So comfortable, worth every penny!)
The way she says bag will never not bother me
BEG
I love the way she says it lol
Girl, your outlook on life is amazing! You're videos are SO great!
every other financial planning TH-camr says to buy a car in full and AVOID LEASING.
guys dont do it, she has the means to meanwhile most of us dont.
I don’t think she realizes how helpful these videos are 😂 ya girl turns 20 soon and I’m shitting myself with making good purchases. THANK YOU
Your videos are so good!
You really are a told model for me even though I think you’re a year younger.
Your videos have really established an essence of maturity over these past couple of months and it’s refreshing. You know yourself and you grow from your experiences. We need more authentic creators on this platform.
If you ever do a summer internship I would love to apply
Side note: I competed against orange coast college for a dive competition. They were pretty good
Im only 22 so I feel like Im just in that area of just out of college, not yet in like a "career" job, and paying off loans. So I feel like I have not gotten to that point of allowing myself/being ABLE to make many higher purchases. But out of the purchases I have made I would say that
- My Computer- I do animation and bought a $3000 computer, the convenience of being able to get my work done from home was worth it alone, but also other reasons
- My education- Right now with loan repayments, I dont super appreciate it all the time, but I do think its worth it for many reasons.
- My trip to Vancouver- first time traveling completely alone, and going somewhere I didnt know anyone. Stayed in a hostel, had some fun experiences
- Bartending school- $500, it was a bucket list thing I have always wanted to do even just for fun, it was fun, but now Im going to bartend while I interview for "real" jobs
I think thars it really for now so far
This showed up as recommended video... Figured why not, see what the 7 awesome purchases were. Didn't expect to leave feeling inspired. Good video / channel.
this is ahhhh a little boujie and unrelatable
1. Plane tickets (France, AUS/NZ, Japan) ✈️
2. Boosted Board
3. Gifts for my family and boyfriend 😊
4. An espresso machine ☕️
5. Exercise class pass (for spinning & barre)
6. A French Textbook 🤓
Watching you makes me feel less depressed about loving someone who doesn't love me back and trying to move on with life.
monica is like the older sister there to help me out
I am the same with designer stuff! Once I got my designer wallet (not even real designer, more of lower-end designer), I stopped shopping for wallets, it still holds after 5 years, actually saved me a ton of money in the long run.
Dang this was inspiring. I’ve always been “cheap” like my husbands likes to tell me. You made me think outside the box for sure
Just hearing "Money" by Pink Floyd in the beginning made me think this video is already off to a great start! 😁
My mortgage payment is $633/mo lmao 😂
I bought one nice bag and couldn’t stop buying more lol
Cait Henry omg me too 😩
This is soo true. Idk how to explain to ppl when I bought like branded things & they’d be questioning me why I bought such stuff. Now that I watch ur vid, that’s exactly how i felt!!
She’s gonna rank a college education below a car that she was basically renting lol
Sam S Yeah, she is. Because it’s her life and her priorities. What is the point of judging someone for prioritizing and reflecting on their own life? If a girl likes her car, cool! if a girl likes her school, awesome! Why can’t we all just cheer each other on.
Melissa Jeanine lol
Lol
Love these vids, idk what you do with your audio but it’s so much better than most of the other people I watch!
Did Shelby buy that car too or did you buy her out? It was in her worst purchased video 😝
considering they pay monthly, I don't think she bought her out, I think Shelby probably stopped paying for it and Monica took over the whole cost each month. They also have another car in LA that Shelby has, and I think if they owned that one than Shelby probably bought Monica out for that one. Thats what I would ASSUME.
@@707Bubby wait so are they twins.? i thought it was her second channel.?
@@blahblah5881 yeah Monica and Shelby are twins
@@707Bubby yeah i thought she had two channels with different names lmao
Hi Monica I have been watching your MLC and Monica Church TH-cam but in this one I now understand you went to colleage and learn how to be a videographer and cool taking photo's I told my niece about you how you inspire your millenials peers. Good for you and thanks for inspiring others.
A big thank you from Venezuela. I love your videos more and more everyday. Thanks for being real
I was OBSESSED with getting dogs so my boyfriend and I did, I wanted like 5!! So now that we have our one dog I’m good to hold off for a while 😂😂🐶
I picked up a 2018 Audi S5 and I'm 28 years old. I have the opposite feeling... got to move on to an RS model next lol (bought used, I'm paying less than $500/month and it's financed).
I remember when you first got the new camera. You were renting it and were iffy about it before using it but ended up really liking it. You’ve come so far 😊
Hi Monica, I really loved/appreciated this video. I’m sorry it got a lot of haters.
My education, iPad w/ Apple Pencil, MacBook, and my car. I just hope I can buy my dream home, I really do.
I really liked this video. It says a lot about the kind of things that we should focus on purchasing (ex: experiences)
the only video with kids and commenting isn't disabled omg stay poppin boo!!!
I think you're really on a creative flow :) love the videos girlllll
Really I would have not expected you to feel the same way about your teeth, it really makes you happy just getting most of these things and finally knowing you could get them on your own!🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
I've been subscribed to you for a while and just wanna say that the content ur putting out now has been my fav of yours
You're so good at words! Such a great vid.
Omg i didn’t know you went to OCC! I went there to do my GE’s and transferred after 2 years. They have a great film department at OCC, I’m glad you loved it!!
Imagine having a disposable income with your “real job”
Would say I like your whole points of this video, and your mindset! unlike other TH-camrs who just have been correcting a number of designer bags, calling them just 'black bag, beige bag, etc' to trick viewers!.
You seem incredibly materialistic. Your 20s should be a time in which you set yourself up for good money habits. Instead of throwing away money on a $600 a month car lease, you could be investing or building an emergency fund.
Love the Givenchy Antigona. I just got mine preloved online and I feel so complete with my handbag now.
I love this type of content ❤️thank you so much Monica you're an inspiration! Keep going girl
i liked the camera talk!
I love your videos...I haven’t been watching for long but you’re just so organic and genuine and that’s so refreshing to see☺️
i always saw your occ sweater but for some reason i never actually knew you actually went there!
MONICA I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH AHH I love waking up to see that you posted!!
I loveeee your videos😍 they just keep getting better and better. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re amazing 💕
I love the videos you upload about your personal experience, find them so helpful.☺️
We also loved Seattle!
love that a designer purse was higher on the list than a college education
Wow the thing about designer bags is sooo true! Once I got my first few designer bags it really stopped me from wanting any more bags whether designer or not.
I live in Iowa and when I buy another car (in a few years) I MUST HAVE heated seats and remote start.
I wish my car had remote start. Such a handy feature
I moved to a state with a real winter recently and I really regret not getting a car with heated seats.
This is such an awesome video!
I went to Orange Coast College for Aviation classes!
