I made this cake for my daughter's wedding last year. One man told the groom, "My mother is a baker and makes wedding cakes. This is the best wedding cake I have ever had!" I made the top flat and sprinkled it with shiny icing sugar. The sides were decorated rusticly. It was beautiful. Thank you!!!!
Beating butter and sugar to death before adding the flour is INTEGRAL to the quality of a cake. I've never made a wedding cake but I make homemade cakes during the holidays and throughout the year for my family and others and I do the same thing. I can't wait to make this cake. Almond extract is a Baker's best, secret, flavor friend 😋 . I use it along w/clear vanilla & a drop or 1 of lemon (not enough lemon to taste, just enough to lift the profile) in all of my white & yellow cakes. I also drizzle a simple syrup over my cakes, then freeze the layers prior to my crumb coat. Your cake looks delicious ❣️
Wow, I do the exact same thing with the simple syrup and crumb coating. An old lady taught me to put the warm layers in a garbage bag and close it up tight.
Chef your wedding cake looks wonderful. I use almond extract in my pound cakes and glazes too. I love the flavor than plain vanilla. Also as a tip, when making fancy cakes, I freeze or refrigerate them after baking before frosting. It makes the cake super moist and easier to frost. I have made many wedding cakes. @@nycciti5316I take my cake out of the freezer and start frosting right away, once you’re done with frosting you can cover it and put it back in the fridge or you can delivery it right away. It will thaw completely in about an hour! If you want to thaw it before frosting, then just take it for about an hour then frost!
So I tried it out with my pound cake, creamed the butter and sugar on high speed for 10 minutes and it worked. My cake was so much softer. Whoever said "slow and low" for that part of the recipe was wrong. I need to watch this video a few more times because Chef works that mixer speed just like somebody driving a stick shift. He knows exactly when to change gears.

My husband and I have a deal, one wedding we stay around until the cake is cut, 🙂next wedding we leave early ( he hates sitting around at the reception) Also, if you have some non slip drawer/shelf liner, cut a square big enough for the cake stand to sit on. Another beautiful cake. Scratch-made wedding cakes are not easy projects, so the following would probably work well for budget-conscious newbies. The easy way out is Duncan Hines moist "Classic White" cake mix sold by supermarkets. So is canned white buttercream frosting. It's actually a tasty combo. In addition to clear almond extract, colorless imitation vanilla extracts are also available if more flavoring is needed. This white cake mix and canned white frostings are also perfect bases for any colors you want to add, from pale pastels to neon brights. They're great for colorful holidays like Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
My Mom always put three 3" wide strips of waxed paper around and in between the edges of the bottom layer and the cake plate. After icing you just gently pull them straight out. The plate stays clean. I'm baking a Wedding cake today for Christmas. Enjoyed your video.

I just made this cake and now I am waiting for it to cool off but I took a piece of the edge off just to try it while it was warm and it taste amazing! I think I messed up on my butter cream though it is very strong with the almond extract flavor. Not bad but wasn’t expecting it to be that powerful. I really enjoyed this video and thank you for putting the ingredients in the description and also thank you for showing me how to make a wedding cake at home for no special occasion other than to just eat it!
