@@reidwhitton6248Yes but remember Hitler? More pertinently perhaps, in the Kindness doco he comments on the ‘where does he belong’ issue. Most interesting then that he full circled it back to Berlin before he died. (And interesting too that loads of young descendants of Holocaust emigres and survivors are availing themselves of the offer of German passports.)
I came to this video already an admirer of Previn and his accomplishments. His interview with the great NPR host Liane Hansen for Weekend Edition on the release of his book "No Minor Chords" was one of the best things I ever heard. Then this video in which he not only speaks about his great music career in the U.S. but he also speaks at length in German about his early life. What a guy! (I do not think there is anyone today who matches his artistic brilliance.)
Sorry. I discovered that subtitles are available. You access them by clicking on the rectangular box with the cc on it. ( it is on the line that appears under the video picture - good luck)

Previn is one of my musical heroes...thanks for sharing.
Happy to see that he gets along well with his children.
So interesting to hear Andre speaking his first language. Thanks for uploading this

So many good leads :) Thankyou
I consider Previn among the greatest musicians this country has ever produced, along with Bernstein and Copland.
Previn was born in Germany.

A stunning intellect, a mesmerizing artist.
An impeccable story of exceptional compositional genius & personal biography of achievement!
Mr Andrew Preview, one of the world's great comedians. Did America ever see his Morecambe and Wise shows ?
"Pardon my French - Holy Sh*t, this hurts!" - ' love his cool son Lukas! :D :D :D
What's the music again he's conducting at 12:51?
36:06 Andre playing cool jazz.
What is the piece he’s performing at 1:55?
16:50 Tattooes

This may be a little late BUT click the closed captions and there is English
A humble cherub,
Did you actually try that? Computerized translation that is completely non-sensical.
No cc box to click on my tablet.
How disrespectful of your viewers is it to present long quotes of Previn speaking in German without offering subtitles?!

The language used in the subtitles is one, however , never spoken by anyone on this planet.
