Unfortunately they didn't tape this concert. Just recorded it ... thank goodness for that! It turned out to be, perhaps, the best concert Judy ever did. She blew the roof off the place! One of the greatest events in show biz history!
In 1961, black and white video tape was very expensive and editing was not easy either. They wanted an intimate concert and the lighting would have been a distraction back then - no fancy computer post-editing existed back then and film was out of the question. It wasn't easy unless there were camera set-ups - cameras were too big and bulky back then and I don't believe Carnegie Hall had the facilities for that either. Cameras aimed at her would have changed the whole feel of the concert as well. It would have been great if they could have filmed it, but hearing this sensational concert is enough for me! I grew up listening to this on a 1961 Motorola Stereo that was HUGE! (My mother's) and we only heard this at full, optimal stereophonic sound at the loudest possible setting! It was a great memory. I heard that this came in monaural (mono or monophonic) or stereo and this version is in mono, which still sounds great. We were lucky to have this Capital album in stereo!
