The the PD380 a delayed blowback design? It's a great looking pistol. Seems like a competitor to the S&W EZ. I'm a big fan of the 380 and glad firearms companies are coming out with more or updated models. Hopefully that will keep ammo manufacturers producing more 380.
I had a PK380. Good shooter but I replaced it with a S&W EZ380. I'm glad Walther got rid of the need for a takedown tool. However, this should've had a de-cocker.
The gun does decock. When you put the safety on it blocks the firing pin and you can then manually lower the hammer. It doesn't have a lever to drop the hammer but internally the same you just manually lower the hammer. Much safer than other DA/SA guns which require you to manually lower the hammer and if it slips the gun could fire. Also, most guns that are safety only lock the hammer so you can't manually decock with safety on.
I have 2 pk380, one is the first versions and the 2nd is a later model. I bought the first one and traded a Beretta APX for the other....both shoot super easy with low recoil....like shooting a 22 and the slide is super easy to rack too charge the the firearm, my wifey and daughter love them....ima kimber and Springfield armory XDs guy myself but have a collection of berettas, rugers, walthers. SW, one colt and one stoeger....the stoeger str C9mm is a nice budget friendly firearm....
To the people who keep disparaging “why in the world would Walther make a single stack 380 in 2023 blah blah blehhhh”… it’s clearly made for women. First time I saw a PK380, I didn’t get it at first either… belonged to a friend’s mom. I ran two mags through it rapidly with no recoil and I was like “ok I get it.” Ladies want a small but big enough to control purse gun that is capable of stopping a threat, has low recoil, and has a safety. That’s why ok.. go calm down 👌 I’d like to get one for my wife, looks fantastic 👍
Not just women. Thanks to the wonders of genetics, arthritis is slowly destroying my hands. I’ve been thinking about this or a S&W Shield EZ380. I’d like to try the .380 version of the P365 and see how it shoots as well.
"It's clearly made for women." Apparently Walther themselves didn't realize this because they're advertising it as a "covert carry" James Bond gun. The pushback is warranted if they're going to call it something it's not.
This gun is absolutely very much as appealing as a S&W Eazy, or Ruger Security 380, for people with various hand strength issues or are recoil sensitive. Macho blowhards can go pound salt.
I understand the attraction for a larger 380 vs. an LCP for recoil management. But at some point, it seems the 9mm would be a better choice for power/size/weight. What is the comparison between the PD380 vs. PDP-F? or compare with the G 43x or a smaller 9mm..
I could do a side by side with the PDP-F. They are of similar size. The PDP is definitely a snappier gun, but I did most of my shooting with the PD alongside my Ruger LCP. They are worlds' different.
🤔 that's the question... can it even have a red dot? Would the red dot weight be too much and make it unreliable to cycle? The action isn't Browning locked breech, and it's 380 powering the slide. 🤷🏻♂️
No. If I recall the old PK380 has a cast stainless slide, while this one is machined stainless. This looks alot like the Walther P22, which does have a zinc slide.
@@BrokenBarBox that’s no longer true. I carry a 365xl with a 12 round capacity and the grip is only an inch wide which is probably narrower than this gun.
Yeah. The OG PK380 held 8. This holds 9. Given how companies are operating, I would not be surprised if this model is bait for an eventual 14-shot version. I would like to see that version with a decocker.
@@Gieszkanne yes. It actually is a huge deal. And I use a +2 magguts kit in mine so I have 14 in my 365. If you don’t care about capacity that’s certainly your prerogative but most people do.
Makes not much sense ..I owned 2-3 pk389s ..bought my fist oh 15 years ago minimum I bet , was a great carry gun back then to but in meen I just boughtbthe gx4 carry ..same size 15+1 and 3 ozs lighter ..oh easier to rack ? Nope ..so all these issues have been fixed over the last 6-7 years
I like to think of this model as an antidote to smaller .380s on the market rather than competition with 9mms. I was a little taken back by how modest the updates were compared to the original. I though there would be at least a 14-shot version instead of upping the capacity from 8 to 9.
This gun is trash. Walther actually made a terrible gun for once. Must be Smith & Wesson whispering in their ear. They could of easily made a 380 like the PDP-F and Equalizer from S&W. Or heck, a double stack G42.
How do you know its trash? Have you shot it ? Or are you just another mall ninja? If you're such an expert, why don't you design, make and market your own gun and show us all how wonderfully talented you are, rather than a world -class firearm company that's been in business for over a hundred years? Mr Handjob HistoryVault go back to eating your chicken tendies before yo' mamma has to reheat them for you...😿
What is the purpose of Walther making a gun just like ones that already exist? Making a product that is different than the competition makes more sense.
I’m surprised no one is complaining about the trigger. Better have a strong trigger finger. I’ve only had mine about two weeks but I’m getting rid of it. Have a pdf & love it.

It locked breech like the EZ. The original PK was the same.

I have a PDP in 9mm. I dig it.
I got a 3.5 inch model. Best trigger on a polymer gun I ever felt.

Or no decocker and safety with a double action only trigger like the LEM from H&K

That's definitely an interesting pistol, enjoyed watching 👍

Absolutely !! We always get a huge number of asshats that automatically deride everything that isn't a 1911, or Glock, or any "manly" gun.

How would you compare contrast this to the CCP M2 380? 0:09
I purchased the 3.5" PDP F for my wife, it's a little too bulky for her to carry, would love to get my hands on one. Thanks for this review
It is s thicker gun if you are used to something like a microcompact. I have a pdp review on the channel. It's an excellent gun
I like the 380acp caliber so I recently purchased a Grand Power P380, a Glock 19 sized pistol ...

I feel they missed it with slide mounted safety and that it sweeps upward.

Agree on the 3 dot sights for the 80X. Front sight is replaceable. Otherwise I love mine

Weird that you wouldn't demonstrate decocking.
The safety is not a decocker.
