Jung definitely won between the two. I myself created a Jungesque conscious subconscious communication before stumbling upon his work. After reading his books it was just confirmation I’m on the right path.
Good way of presentation! Allowing to well interiorise, and room for association of ideas, while keeping in touch. Deep, sometimes influenced by personal conviction, but to the point and not falsifying the original thoughts!
Therapy refers to the talking cure, reinvigorating the century old tradition of religious confession and re-contextualizing this practice within urban, civilized cities. 9:40

I just got C.J. Jung "The Redbook," Libra Novus edited and with an Introduction by Sonu Shamdasani several months back. Updated version on his black books. And now Anirela Jaffe's updated version "Reflections." She had been his secretary and a refugee of the Holocaust and and a psychologist herself as well a writer of four books and essayist. Many were jealous of her for her closeness to Jung. And now she is getting the recognition she deserves because of the research with psychologist in the field of Jung in Switzerland. As psychology grows more truth comes and and one wants to get close to the source. The library and home where Carl Jung lived. What a journey of individuals. Psychology club of Zurick that Jung and friends created in 1916. Many in psychology are still discovering more about Jung and his writings in Switzerland. I find Jung more fascinating than Freud. Thank you, again Fitction Beast .
Agreed, as I’ve gotten older my journey with mental health has definitely gravitated towards that of Jung’s teachings. Now that I have an outline of what I’m going thru it’s much easier to put into words my emotions and thoughts. Synchronicity here I come 😁
From Pavlov's dogs to Freud's work on the unconscious, we explore nature versus nurture and conscious versus the subconscious. As this unraveling of humanity moves from laboratory to Vienna, a home of elegance and wealth in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, one thing is ever-present: the need to understand ourselves. We seek answers found in Hinduism regarding 'Maya' and atman, as we review objects that range from bells to dreams. Psychology allows us a space for reflection - a grand confessional of life experiences which includes Schopenhauer's themes of boredom and pain but, most importantly, a chance to be heard.
Wasn't he the one that proposed the idea that all children subconciously want to kill their father and fuck their mother? And the one who said that the female maturity process was a result of the subconcious desire that little girls have of having a penis (specifically their father's)? He also promoted cocaine as a cure for many mental illnesses. Not saying he was completely wrong, his ideas on psychoanalysis and his interpretation of dreams have some truth to them, but most of his contributions to modern psychology are his errors.

Catharsis: acts of cleansing ones suppressed emotions, via eg storytelling. Case in point: Catcher in the Rye or Kafka’ works. 13:37
There seem to be big differences between confessing to a priest and talking to a psychologist. The confessor believes that God is listening, that God knows when we lie to the confessor and fail to confess everything, and God is the Father, the Lawgiver, who can and will forgive. Also, God already knows and has already judged us. All He has to is to forgive us. None of these things are true of the therapist. And the priest must forgive us, while whatever the similar function, the therapist has no such duty. And the forgiveness of a permissive therapist is not the same as that of a priest, or God, who shares our revulsion at what we have done.
this is clash only in name. Jung is barely a psychoanalyst by the end, philosophically going further further and even further from the immediacy of the couch and the purity of the speaker's language.
Presenter misunderstands Jung. Archetypes are not "memories." They are thought-forms, concepts - accompanied by images in sighted people - which manifest in our unconscious, impinging on our conscious thoughts and motivations. The idea of "collective memories" is silly, and wou;ld be considered emprically false by almost Everybody.

Thank you so much for these informative videos.
Tatemae is similar to Persona, but I find it interesting that it's seen as a social tool rather than a psychological concept.
thank you! great content
18:49 archypes are like the universal software while our individual hardwares are different
Wonderful video! Very helpful to me right now. Thank you.
That's a false dichotomy since Jung gave account for both individual and collective unconscious
TY.
They both complete the concept ❤

Freud was a true visionary. His revolutionary ideas define the whole 20th century and still ring true today.
Wasn't he the one that proposed the idea that all children subconciously want to kill their father and fuck their mother?

Your voice needs an upgrade.
Freud opened a church! Made me laugh but, it's kind of true as since Freud there's been a new social 'religion'.
Carl yung is way better
