Seriously the best Amarok review I have seen. This guy needs to train the VW sales guys in Oz. Would love to see some more reviews or the Amarok by Paul. Great job.

From SA originally - so bakkies (utes) are in our blood. Must be a Southern Hemisphere thing!

Pete took a lot of us out when he was in New Plymouth promoting Nissan Navara quite a few years ago now. He amazed me with his skill off road and what he was able to get that Navara do do was phenomenal. I'd been club 4 wheeling for years in hard trucks and he's only the second driver I know who's got that level of everyday off road skill. Awesome. I've already bought a V6 Aventra and if its as good off road as it is on road, absolutely nothing will come near it.

@@milescontinental So now I've been out and up some very steep rutted hills over wet grass, I was able to test the hill descent in both forward and reverse and I can tell you that reverse function is a real Godsend when backing down a steep hill at night in the rain. At times she lost traction altogether and sped up quite a bit but brought herself back under control quickly. I thought Amarok drivers are going to need some model specific training because the technique is quite different to relying on momentum, but when you button off to regain traction it tends to surge a lot. I'd also love to know how to turn the proximity alarm off so its not set off by every bade of grass. Its default is to on so after every direction change you have to shut it off - again. Also the parking aid, I drove the whole night without being able to see the 4x4 aids because of the parking aid. I'm sure it can be switched off somehow but there's a limit to how much finger stabbing you can do before you drop over the side of something.

Hopefully picking mine up this week. It's second hand and not a highline model, but I'm pretty excited.

Mate has a ROK, I think they are a great piece of Kit. Only mistake I heard in this was no need for under body protection. The rear diff pumpkin lid hangs down about 8mm and gets caught on rocks and branches and lets oil escape. Fit a Diff protector and all is sweet.

Great video guys, I have a highline 2014. Its done plenty of beach work and is rok solid. The tub is massive and can fit a small house in it. Top ute

The VW Amarok 6 spd Manual is very pleasant to drive; it's a handsome beast!

totally agree with the turning circle thing and all the wheels driving and traction. when it rains I get bored as shit and try skid corners. cars literally on rails... can actually be boring lol.. but super safe

What seats do you have in the front of your Amarok, are upgrades?
Excellent information, I am definitely ordering a Blue-motion Auto.
