This was my first Ironman - just came across this video. Excellent race report and some great footage of the race. Bringing back some great memories. Good work and thank you!!!
Great video Dan, thank you for sharing your race day and training over the past months, it has been a pleasure to join you on your journey to IM number 2. Amazing time and a great improvement on Hamburg. Well done!!
Well Done Dan, brilliant time , brilliant footage and excellent description of the effort and drive that it takes to become an Ironman and the feeling that it espouses in us, Barcelona 2018 can not come quick enough for me, despite my injuries , I try my best. My only complaints about the vlog is that singing !!! , my lord , dont give up the day job ;-) , I jest of course. I have enrolled in Lanza 2019 and Wales 2019 , no small measure as they are tough tough courses with tough weather conditions. I am also looking at the Alpe d'huez triathlon, it looks amazing , I hope to see you out there one day , keep it up amigo .
@@Harry-Palmer sounds great Harry, there's a nice one in Sweden too.. was my first ever race back in 2016. there's a video about it too.. being British you'd love the perfect road conditions in Sweden 🇸🇪
awesome! great time. Nice video. I will do my first Ironman in Kalmar this August. Trying to find out about getting a wetsuit etc. Steep learning curve for my first triathlon lol. I will check out your other videos.
Dan Noz thanks to you to inspire is and deliver high quality content and not to often...because we all have a life running..job..love..kids..friends...dog...
Dan! When I first started watching I thought it was a movie, great quality! Nice to finally see a video where I recognize the location :) Well done on the Ironman and an incredible time as well! You made it look so easy that I *almost* want to give it a go :)
Great video, loved it :) Can you do another video where you analyse your training leading into this race, similar to last year's video? Would be really cool to see your progression. Also big congrats on your great time! Cheers from Germany
Awesome Dan! Huge Congrats! Also a good improvement to Hamburg time! I would appreciate a recap of your training, similar what you did for Hamburg. Did you use the same training plan you bought for Hamburg? Maybe this could help me get some more motivation :) Keep going!!
how much did i. train for my second Ironman - > im the making. even though we gotta be carful comparing two different races :) regarding your motivation.. you got this!!!
absolutely loved your videos Dan, and what a timing! I saw that you carries a bidon on your Xlab BTA and a Crono on downtube. Would love to know abit more about your bike nutritions, how many bottles you ended up using or how do you refill it on the fly etc. And what would your suggestion be on a 70.3 bike distance. Thanks Dan!
thanks Johan, I use around 6 gels (sis electrolytes and carbs) on a half and 12 on a full. I dilute them with water. That means I've got one bottle for the entire race thst I don't need to refill. I grab regular water bottles which I put between my tt bars. Hope that helped. Nutrition is very individual and needs to be practiced. Hope that helped. Which race are you training for?
Dan Noz thanks Dan, I just completed 70.3 Taiwan with 3 bidons of diluted electrolyte. I am also getting a Speedmax soon and looking to simplify with 2 bidons setup and yours seems like a way to go. So a concentrated SIS on your Crono you sip every now and then and a water on your TT bar that you will discard and replace from aid stations is what you do then. I’ll give it a try. Still absorbing your Trainingpeaks planning and seems interesting. Keep them coming ☺️👌🏻
You've got a new subscriber here, awesome video and what an amazing performance! I hope it's ok to ask this: you wear glasses in some of your videos - do your wear contacts for your races? I'm just getting in to triathlon and I'm super scared to lose my googles in the swim (wearing hard contact lenses)!
Hi Anni, first of all thanks for the kind words and congratulations on your decision to become a triathlete. i indeed wear glasses but never tried contacts in a race. I am short sighted (1.0) so it's not that bad. i sometimes wished i could see better during the swim but then i follow other swimmers and just try to get closer to the buoys :) With many things you need to practice in training. how much are you short or long sighted?
Hey Dan, thanks for the super quick answer! I definitely can't bike or run without contacts/glasses (pretty bad astigmatism). I am thinking about swimming without contacts (and just follow everybody else haha) and just putting them in in T1 (literally takes me 10 sec). Might just have to do a trial and error kind of thing!
Well done Dan! You time is more than 30 mn better than Hambourg!! Is it because you progressed in cycling or the bike leg was easier in Kalmar than Hambourg? Hambourg is only 100m odf ascent no? I think you hugely progressed in biking? Bravo again
thanks alot. its impossible to compare two races imo, kalmar bike was flatter but run was harder plus it was warmer. on the bike i pushed around 20 watts more, that's a great sign. Also on the swim i improved by 5 minutes. all in all an upwards trend :) thanks again for the message amd following me. means a lot
Congratulations on your success! I’m doing Ironman Kalmar in 2019, what can you say about road quality on the bike course? I heard it is really bad, is that true?
Hahah I know my friend. have you ever been to Sweden to a pizza place ;) The most popular Pizza is pizza kebap :) But it worked out and gave me enough energy for the race. Thanks for watching and commenting and best of luck Raffaele for your races :)
Great time and interesting, infroamtive video. Considering Kalmar now for my 2021 A race
It's out there :) I put a lot of heart and soul into this video. The highlight of my 2018 season. Hope you like it :)
Another great race. 22 on the bike is flying. Glad you had enough gas to get the run done. Great job.
What a great time to finish in, and a great video! The crowd is absolutely insane, and I'm really excited to take part in it in the future.
I am convinced we will be doing kalmar together one day!!! thanks for your kind words and it was a pleasure meeting you
