Performance upgrade for the Ariel Rider 52v X Class would be sweet. Note - the X Class recently sold out during a sale event so lots of potential customers.
You are correct the windings determine the maximum RPM the motor can produce per volt applied to the motor this is referred to as KV in brushless motors. Therefore to go faster you need to increase the voltage in the battery and BMS supplied to a controller than is designed for that voltage. The extra amps supplied by the new control account for the faster acceleration as well as better hill, climbing power. But those advantages can be limited by the maximum amount the BMS allows the battery pack supply to the controller.
I’m so happy that you are offering this kit. I would definitely order one. My bike already have a 52v 17.5ah battery. I been looking for this set up since they made one for the Rad Rover e-bikes. Tell Mrs CitizenCycle I said good job and congratulations, great way to hang in there.
Hay Bryan, you just answered on of my questions in my email about the wattage dropping of at 30mph from 910 watts to 550watts or so. Guess it happens to this bike as well as my trail step elite. Another great video .... JP
I would love a 40 amp controller for my himiway cruiser. It should run much cooler than maxing out the stock controller especially if it would also function if the hall sensors failed due to heat or whatever else. I know some controllers do not require these sensors to be hooked up. Riding in the woods can really heat up the whole system pretty quickly. I go on multi day camping trips on mine where it would be a long way for this disabled body to walk out for help. I would also be interested in a front hub motor kit to help with hill climbing and pulling through wet and muddy areas off-road. Thanks for all you do here and congratulations on the beginning of the new chapter of your lives together!
Most of those fat tire 1000 w bikes have a 30 amp BMS but will still output much more for short Burst and there's probably either a XD60 or Anderson plug underneath the battery mount tray. Usually just a couple of screws 🪛
Upgrade for the x class 52v would be great i have been wanting one since they had the jack. Cecil controller i know you can do better than that love your video's congrats on the wedding thanks

Congratulations to you and Mrs Citizen. I would like a good way to carry a 2nd battery. It is not that important that the 2nd battery is hooked up. I can always stop and exchange the batteries. I have several e-bikes and have 2nd batteries for 2 of them. The one I do not have a good way to carry the second battery. The battery is removable but integrated into the frame. If I had a good padded bag that could be strapped to the bike rack that would probably work. I need something like this when I go on longer rides. One more thing the bike is a step thru, so no crossbar.
Congrats Bryan and Ruth🍻 60A waterproof controller for the wired freedom would be great. I did your shunt mod for the wired 2024 freedom it's amazing. Told wired what I wanted to try it, so they sent me over a new controller to try out the shunt mod. Wired is really a cool company sent it over no charge they are the best. Looking forward to your upcoming wired segment😁
Bryan I think you have both in one right here 1) A range extender, extra battery 40 amp controller and a display. And at the same time you have upgraded performance when using your kit. If I bought your kit I would use it for the first part of my ride and when the battery is just about empty I can unplug the main power lead and connect back into the stock Himiway Zebra controller and battery. In my case I have the KD718 display so I would only need to order the 40 amp controller and your battery. I like the front motor setup as well but the cost will be much greater to change the front forks and order front wheel with motor. As you are not posting overseas I might even give this a go myself. Thanks for the idea. 👍
I would like to see a power upgrade(plug n play) for Aventon Adventure 1st model. I'll check back. I bought an extra battery for range but it would be nice to have more acceleration n power to hold my own on the road with cars a little betterer.
I want to upgrade kit for my walkie H6ST Max. It already has a 28 amp controller but I want a little more oomph. The problem is the original controller has a 5-pin throttle/horn combination and that would have to be swapped out also. It has an 1121 motor connector and a xt90 power connection.
Brian - yeah range extender is something I’d want. Have an old AV Soltera that I wind up pedaling home just about every day. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
I have an M2S All Terrain 750 step thru and have been trying to find a plug & play controller to upgrade to! Stock is 25a. I would LOVE IT if you could help with modding those bikes! The 750w Bafang motor on those is custom wound for top speed, so they’ll get to about 30mph on flat ground, but they lack the pickup and low end torque in my opinion. If I could fix that issue, these would be fantastic bikes! If you aren’t familiar with M2S out of N Carolina (I think) then please check them out and see if we could mod them!!
Once the bike is up to momentum and you are no longer accelerating, it requires less current to maintain speed. Less current = lower wattage. This will happen at any speed you settle on.
I don't have much to say since ActivityPhoto explained it so well, and your motor will naturally draw less power as it reaches it's KV rating. The workaround is field weakening, but you need a controller that supports it, and field weakening does not play well with battery blenders. Too bad we are not neighbors... I could whip up any adapters you need! When you use the stock battery, you need to pay attention to the wire gauge coming from the battery and the controller. They only make it as thick as necessary, and on my Radmini for example, they used 16 gauge wire and it almost melted during my early days of experimentation!
This is why people go up in volts to get a few more hits per second. Also why high speeds are very inefficient. There are many magnets and only a split second to energize each step. You get 36mph with the wheel hanging only because the hub motor only needs a tiny bit of torque with no load.
Definitely make an upgrade controller for the Himiway cruiser. My KD 718 controller went out and I'm back to the Himiway display, which tops out at 28.6 MPH and the motor is definitely not topping out. The KD 718 gave me 32.5 in pedal assist 7. I believe that's what it does to boost the speed. I cannot get 32.5 with throttle only, but ya make the controller and I'll buy one for sure and throw it into the mix
Nice job, himiway focuses on long rang bikes . So they use the 22 Amp controller in most of there bikes . But myself I like the speed . I'd like to see you up grade a D7pro mid drive . And a cobra updated with a thousand watt motor . It comes with the same 22amp controller ?? Also what model display are you useing in this video.?
Good video! You should remind people that their battery's BMS might not be able to allow for 40A discharge (usually that is getting close to the limit of run-of-the-mill stock ebike batteries)
Any chances of a 1000 watt rear hub motor? Yes I would be interested in a 40 watt controller and of course plug and play. Thank you for being so inventive.
wow so much in these great ebikes! and seeing you have fun with it is good to see. I have a couple Favoto ebikes a discontinued fearless step over [its a fun one](maybe? a copy of the early Himi cruiser? maybe?) it has a 750 W Bafang hub motor thats fine for me. I like slow low impact trails and dirt/gravel roads (Im in North Idaho) and the less traffic the better. my Cur is at 20 on the display & has a mediocre/stock controller that Id like to swap out to around 30A ? then run cur about 25 or so. my hope is to make it a better grade 23% climber as it is its ok, but falls out on the 20+ % grades. my other is the flurry 2.0 750w hub mother same battery and a 22A controller same 48V 14ah battery. it does much better on hills & goes up grades to my surprise. its display Cur is set to 20A the flurry is still being sold & looks like a himi also. [the quality of these is a nice surprise to me] in the future I might get a better brand ebike, But these are my 1st ebikes and I see they might be made into something a little better (?) speed is not my great concern as I ride trails & top speed of 20 is fine for me. Id like a better climber. my average putt along is 11 to 14 mph (I like to look around) the journey to me is something to enjoy. kinda want to stay 750 watt and be accepted on USA trails, just to look good ;) feel free to email me as Im wanting to upgrade these & maybe convert my mtb bike with a mid drive. ;)
Definitely aventon and himiway range extenders! Aim for like 2 to 3 time longer on throttle only if possible, because we already know that the pedal assist will follow!
I have a Juiced Ripcurrent S model. It has the 750 watt motor. It would be nice to have a upgraded controller. On the new 1000 watt juiced bikes you can get the upgraded controller. My buddy has the Juiced 1000 watt motor with the upgraded controller and he always leaves me in the dust.
I would definitely be interested in any upgrades for my Himiway!! I have already put on a 52 tooth front sprocket, changed my rear gears to 11-32, relubed my gears, running Tannus liners, running tires at 22 lbs. Was thinking of changing tires to more of a street tire. I don't think I can do the dual motor even though I have a spare 52V and 48V batteries. If you build a kit for the Himiway I have three questions. What would the kit include, what can I expect for increase, and what would the price be? I have hit 33mph on a flat pedaling my behind off...
You can do dual motors, but it makes sense to do it correctly. Change out the current controller for something designed for dual motor support. Most programmable controllers support this with thr controllers communicating via can bus. You use your existing throttle going to one controller designated the master, and the throttle signal is then relayed to the 2nd controller. Some controllers (anything vesc based) also give you the option of limited slip, so if one wheel slips, the throttle signal to that wheel is reduced. Slippage detection is just too much differential in rpm between the two wheels. Having two throttles is unnecessary and a dangerous distraction.
@@moonshotsilver So does a normal dual motor setup. In fact, I'm on front motor only after I smoked one of the craptacular oem controllers in my bike. I have a pair of fardriver controllers on order. You just don't need two throttles. Yes, a throttle can fail. Lots of things can. But throttle failures are uncommon enough that the distraction and awkwardness of two throttles outweighs any theoretical benefit.
I am wanting to blend the stock 48v and the 52v with your kit using a batery blender . I would like to see you blend the batteries with your kit for range
Congrats Bryan! Great video! 👍 I have a couple questions. Does the pedal sensor also work with that controller? What is that adapter called? Whats the name of the end on the motor? What the name of the end on the controller? If you need xt60 for the battery, simply cut the wire and solder xt60 or any other end to match. If you use dual motor you will surely get 37mph or more.
I would be interested in your front wheel kit if it were for a 20 inch wheel, specifically for a Megacycle Ocelot. And I would like to replace the controller to get rid of the auto-cruise control -- I hate it.
I have a question, and you seem pretty knowledgeable about this whole ebike thing. If you upgrade the controller on an ebike it is my understanding that you need to change the display as well? I am asking because I see plenty of controllers for sale on the internet, but most do not come with displays. Are there universal displays? Is there some way of knowing what display goes with what controller? It is a bit confusing. Also, if you did not want to go with a trigger throttle, can you change over to a twist throttle? Do the connections need to match up, or are they fairly universal. If you had any input I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Are you going to figure out a way to add a front motor to a 20” fat tire? I have the “Juliette” and would be interested in adding a front tire motor to it.
I am now starting to love the extra power. I have a meelod dk 300 max. I would love to know if I could upgrade the controller. I know my controller is a single 44 amp powering both motors. Do you know if this bike could handle a bigger controller? I would love to buy a more powerful controller and a nice bigger color screen that mounts in the middle. I love your videos. I bought 3 different bikes from watching your videos. Keep up the good work!!
If you built a kit to upgrade my Aventon aventure (1.0 version) to a 40A controller using the existing display and PAS system, I would definitely buy it. Even if I had to switch out the display, that wouldn't be the end of the world either, especially if it gave me more control on how I want to set up my bike. As long as the throttle still worked and the PAS system still worked, I would be all in.
E bike ideas. Brakes shutoff should be okay to operate both controllers from one brake shut off. Front and rear 5 volt is 5 volt. Worth a try maybe? 40 amp controllers Great idea make both the same and change fuse in Himiway to 60 amp. Other bikes unknown. Operate front wheel at PAS 1 all the time and a low setting and then will help off the line a bit more and you can add power when needed. Change displays to both the same for rear and front drive. Volts 48 to 52 back and front will work great. Or 48 and 48. On Himiway I found a 52 or 48 volt 15 to 20 amp battery that is a triangle bag and looks like it would work on the Zebra. On Amazon. Thanks for the great shows. 75 years and still ride.
I’m not happy with my Aventon Level 2 with torque sensor..so I was thinking can a torque sensor be replaced with a cadence sensor without changing the entire system ?
Love your videos! My question is what bike that's affordable I can use for just riding to my deer hunting lease? 500-1000watts that can go up hills good?
It used to be back in the day open territory with parts. Now it’s proprietary so what do we do? Watch your channel. Keep thinking, experimenting and informing. Also all best for making the big decision to get married👍
Make a Kit for the Aventon Aventure 1. These bikes have more to offer than what the stock controller provides, plus owners of the Adventure 1 and 2 have been restricted recently because of sneaky firmware update
How bout upgrading the Kepler?… it has a stock 33 amp controller!… I think there is a lot more power to be had!… already ordered your warp kit for it!… how would that work?… would you just be bypassing the Kepler stock battery and controller?
the front motor kit functions completely independent from the stock Kepler components. If i make a rear wheel controller upgrade, it would be a direct replacement of the bikes stock controller and would plug into the stock battery and motor.
I’ve already purchased the warp drive kits for both of the bikes. I just mentioned this way here. It would be nice to have matching Display screens for both bikes
I'm not sure if there's any way to tell. I've been running my 750 bafang motors on the citizen bike with 52 V batteries and 35a controllers for years now and they're still going.
Depends on amperage, and how much time you spend at full throttle. On a geared motor, it's the gears that fail. They are cheap to replace, and not difficult, but obviously a hassle.
magicycle cruiser kit!!

Let's go with the Himiway kit 👍🏻

Yes, a throttle can fail. Lots of things can.
But throttle failures are uncommon enough that the distraction and awkwardness of two throttles outweighs any theoretical benefit.
Can you make one for aniioki bikes specifically the AQ177 Pro Max. I will buy one!
I would like to see a bafang rear hub motor with one of your 40a controller and 52v battery upgrades
I'm attempting to make a universal 40a controller that will fit any 750w geared hub :)
I am wanting to blend the stock 48v and the 52v with your kit using a batery blender . I would like to see you blend the batteries with your kit for range
I definitely want a kit rear wheel kit for the traxxas
Congrats Bryan! Great video! 👍
I have a couple questions.
I would be interested in an controller upgrade for the Ariel Rider X Class 52v.
okay, good to hear, i am trying to figure out a universal way to do it.
I like lower end power 35mph plenty just want more speed😮
I would be interested in your front wheel kit if it were for a 20 inch wheel, specifically for a Megacycle Ocelot. And I would like to replace the controller to get rid of the auto-cruise control -- I hate it.
I'd like to see a controller upgrade for Fabulous Trail Step Elite
Got a Friend ebike bought a 2000w rear hub motor can't find the right display, controller throttle to make it run without error can you help me out
Himiway escape, would love to purchase a plug in 40a controller for it. Let me know if you have one!
Thanks!
By the way. Yes. Serious holes in the upgrade market for ebikes. Would be a good idea to fill that gap and take the mystery out of it all.
I’d love to do a controller upgrade on my Aventon Aventure 2.
Congrats! I can see it now, you free haircuts, Mrs Citizen free e bikes!
thanks! haha
@@CitizenCycle925 You got it!
I would be interested in one for a Kepler, if the battery can take it
Are you going to figure out a way to add a front motor to a 20” fat tire? I have the “Juliette” and would be interested in adding a front tire motor to it.
Plug and play kit for the Himiway zebra but to fit in the location of the stock controller.
Also congratulations on your marriage!!!!!
Any new info on the ship date for the kits?
Finishing up manufacturing, they should be on the ship in early May. Once I have the date they land in port, I'll let everyone know. 😁
Ya what a 2021 Aventon adventure. 1 750 watt e bike maybe 35 amp
For himiway zebra i would be interested in 2.
I’m not happy with my Aventon Level 2 with torque sensor..so I was thinking can a torque sensor be replaced with a cadence sensor without changing the entire system ?
Electro Bike World has a 35 amp upgrade available for the Himiway, would prefer to purchase from you.
What about a hipeak bona? Might be a bit low scale for you.
What about a Cyrusher Kommoda? 40a controller kit for it?
Love your videos! My question is what bike that's affordable I can use for just riding to my deer hunting lease? 500-1000watts that can go up hills good?
Hey Bryan, I have been viewing your videos for a while, is there a way to boost my ride 1 up 700 to go faster?
Not sure, if any upgrades for that bike, never had a ride1 up.
I would love one for the aventure 2 please
Okay I figured that would be a popular request.😁 It would get rid of that annoying 20 mph throttle limit.
@@CitizenCycle925 well then if you make one for the adventure and the Kepler, I will buy them both
I’ve already purchased the warp drive kits for both of the bikes. I just mentioned this way here. It would be nice to have matching Display screens for both bikes
You would think that the controller for the Kepler would be the same plug and play as one for your grizzly
I also have a 20" by 4" with autocruise. Is there anyway to get rid of it? The bike is a Vitilan U7.
I’d like to see a kit for the rad five city late model controller thank you
Freedom gears are metal and plastic. Do they make it for himiway 750 motor?
What's the motor life expectancy when upgrading the controller?
I'm not sure if there's any way to tell. I've been running my 750 bafang motors on the citizen bike with 52 V batteries and 35a controllers for years now and they're still going.
Depends on amperage, and how much time you spend at full throttle.
On a geared motor, it's the gears that fail.
They are cheap to replace, and not difficult, but obviously a hassle.
Where can I get the cable adapter from the controller to the motor?
@@maceplata8337 electrobikeworld
Hi, where can I get just the controller? I would be interested to buy one for the factory battery. Let me know
Any C5 power upgrades/mods?
