If I ever got the resources/ money to make a game, I’d want to do a game very similar to this one. As a kid playing this game, it really felt like I was in the middle of a conflict zone with all the unscripted fights between the factions and the random fly bys of fighter jets. I also liked how Pandemic used the actual names for vehicles and weapons compared to the generic names given in the sequel
Despite this video being over 2 hours long, I neglected to mention a few important things, so I'll just do that here: 1. The Artillery Strikes are even *worse* than I describe in this video, because in addition to them being ineffective and lame, they don't even make sense in the context of realism. Why in the world would you throw a smoke grenade to designate an artillery target?! Wouldn't a satellite feed be supremely qualified for providing coordinates to an artillery squad? How the hell are they going to see your smoke grenade from miles away? 2. The Surgical Strike gets a huge fun-factor bump for its unique usefulness in baggage carrier flings. I do one in the video with the Fuel Air Bomb, but neglect to mention it again during the discussion about Surgical Strikes. The kinds of launches you can get across the map with a well placed Surgical Strike are insane. 3. The Bunker Buster only really earned the #1 spot due to its necessity a couple times throughout the game. If you remove that consideration, it'd probably fall below the Surgical Strike and Carpet Bomb on this list.
My favorite is just plain C4. I launched sooo many sungri jeeps sky high using a pile of C4. I can't rememmber but I think you can put C4 ON to vehicles and then drive it around as a bomb. I haven't had a working xbox in almost 6 years so I'm guessing from memory
one thing I've noticed about the cruise missile, is that the difference in cost between it is likely up to two factors, one being the laser vs satellite part, the second being the lower point it comes in from gives it a higher likelihood of hitting something else instead of it's intended target. The only reason I know this is because I was recently playing the final mission and tried to use a cruise missile to hit a bunker within the main fortress at the top of the mountain, and it promptly hit the wall instead.
You would've gotten waaaaay more viewers back when this came out. Sucks. For me Mercenaries was kinda like the Saints Row to GTA. They were rivals for a bit and the competition made them both better but, sadly one was taken before its time. But for covering such a classic game who's franchise is sadly dead, you've earned a like and a subscription.
I remember when I played through the game, the only times I used the artillery or the FROG tactical missile were when they were given to me as freebies from whatever faction I was doing the mission for. Same with the cluster bomb run. Half the problem with the cluster bomb and the artillery options was the utter randomness of where the warheads would land, so you really did have to absolutely book it. I am greatly surprised at how effective King 6 turned out to be at level 3, given the duration of fire, you might well run out of targets in most areas that don't have a hardened tank tunnel or something giving you a constant stream of enemies. So, if I am right, the only strikes that could take out a hardened structure like a tank tunnel were the bunker buster and the cruise missile?

with regards to Air Superiority, I wracked my brain and I can think of two occasions where I actually used it, both were in the Northern sector: the first was when I discovered the valley by the strain station loop in the north-by-northeast area of the map (the same one with the out of place South Korean jammer vehicle) and used that to clear out the gunships after I alerted that beehive, the second time was when a bunch of Mi35 gunships (I think it was either 3 or 5) spawn around the Spade spec ops person who is on the Chinese side of the water, the other side of the hill from the Chinese HQ at the north-by-northwest part of the map. By the time it came to taking down General Song, I had the Abrams and could one shot the gunships I saw with ridonkulous ease.

Next stream challenge: Any time you need to use a strike, chat decides which one. When you run out of money, you can get a "loan" of $1mil, but you have to use a lower tier weapon than your current main.
I came back here because I remembered that artillery can absolutely be directed at smoke assuming the battery has a forward observer. Still really underwhelming in-game compared to their real-life use as intense and extended ground pounding

Artillery bombardment I'd argue isn't F, rather D. Very situational, mostly for use in leveling a whole area without the price sink of a carpet bomb. Yes, it's less consistent, but you're not dropping 500k on it either. It's also useful for escapes against enemies attempting to overrun your position, throw it at the chokepoint and high-tail it out of their in a scout chopper, or a vehicle of your choosing.
I like how nonchalant the airstrike operator’s voice is, really reinforces the theme of war as a business.

The stealth fighter/stealth bomber strike is the South Korean (CIA) equivalent of the surgical strike/carpet bomb.
