    doing a 1:1 ratio seems to help a bit, I'll be using that tip. However, when zooming in on instagram, still not as crisp as when zooming in on my phone's camera roll. Assuming there's no helping that, just the cost of posting to social media like insta I guess.

      There is a chance that Android uploads are treated differently than iPhone ones. There is a video from Amir on youtube regarding why he is switching to Apple. He explains that apple released barely 2-3 phones per year while Android based are hundreds if not thousands. Reason why apps can tailor better to apple than the rest resides in the sheer number of releases and adaptations they must undergo to fit a device. But if you're using iphone and still have that issue, disregard my message as there is then an even more mysterious situation at hand :D

      @@cinialvespow1054 I am still playing it with, but I had good results using Photoshop 'save for web' option when you go into file-->save menu. Ideally keep the ratio as we generally know that works the best on insta and other platforms. But also make sure to set resolution between 73% and 80%. That made a hell of a difference in terms of weight of the file, which now I believe is a parameter that they take into account when they severely compress your images on these platforms
      Try and let me know :D fingers crossed

I am on Fine Art America and always post the images at full-size but with the resolution as 72 ppi and have never had a problem. I'll try out what you say because I like your approach. Thanks Robert!

    • @DIEGO.L
      @DIEGO.L 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All insta and FB photos are automatically downgraded to 96ppi, so use that resolution instead of 72 for more accurate details and instead of 300 to save yourself some storage space

    • @richardmalmberg7722
      @richardmalmberg7722 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DIEGO.L Actually ppi is a print thing, just worry about the pixel dimensions. That's why 72ppi and 300ppi produce exactly the same size image if you input 1080 in both. They would print differently perhaps but the image will be the same. Try it out. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @muzzammilshigri

    This video is just like other videos on the youtube. This will not help you.
    The first thing you should not saturate the RGB colors. Open it in lightroom mobile or pc. Size : Small (2048) and quality must be on 70% otherwise instagram will ruin your photo quality.
    Now while uploading increase the sharpness inside instagram edit section & donot increase too much.

    • @RobertSilverPhotography
      @RobertSilverPhotography  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn't find it either but at least export at a 4:5 aspect ratio for portraits to give you the best chance accurate composition when you post. Then save to camera roll, and upload to IG. I've never had a issue with the quality of my posts when doing this. Hope this helps in any away.

    • @glennmeader626
      @glennmeader626 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pixels per inch is irrelevant. PPI is only used when printing. Otherwise, the OS display software automatically scales the resolution for the actual screen in use, be it phone, tablet or monitor..
      The PPI setting does not change any pixels stored in files. If you set the image size to 1080 pixels, that is what will be stored in the file, regardless of any PPI setting.

    Hi - I am hoping you can answer a question for me. I use PowerPoint to create my Instagram posts. Very often the posts appear blurry, not sharp or clear, after being uploaded. Some posts consist of a colored background and text, others have a background, some photos and text. I save the finished design as a JPEG. The PP file and Jpegs look clear on my computer but not after they have been uploaded to IG.

    What do you do if the physical framing of the subject is not possible in the square or looks completely stupid and you need to have a wider openshot like let's say for an example you do a landscape and you lose so much of the landscape because you can't have example rectangular framing because you don't want to have your shot be compressed yes you can do the swipe across shit but that is completely not acceptable replacement what do you do in incidences like

    • @patrickmcegan7189
      @patrickmcegan7189 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And if there is physically nothing Instagram needs to fix their backend so that they can physically hold capacity for what they use as want because they literally I've been on Instagram since 2015 and always had this issue and never really looked into it until I got so many comments about it on my post I thought I better do something discovered this video and then realised shitt I can physically not frame appropriate to not do this there is no physical way for the type of shots I take it will just look very silly framed into a square like Instagram want appropriate framing for non compression is not physically possible for the type of stuff I take because if I do I will cut off what I am taking and then people will complain about it being cut off

    for some reason instagram keeps posting pictures i took in purple lighting super blurry, and whenever i compress the image with an app and post it the quality is worse than the original even though they both look the same in my camera roll. i posted a different set of pictures instead and had no issue, could it be the bright purple lighting affecting the quality? i don’t know what to do i’ve been trying to fix it for hours

    • @RobertSilverPhotography
      @RobertSilverPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Marisa, now a video about posting to reels is a great idea. I haven’t done that yet. Unfortunately from my experience when I post videos to reels I will definitely expect compression. It’s apart of the game. The fact we don’t pay for the storage of all the video data on IG server and if we want the videos to be uploaded within seconds compression comes with the territory. But I very much appreciate you send me a message.

    Such a nice video!
    There is only one thing I didn't quite understand: you said to enter 1080 pixels for the width and allow lightroom to proportionally adjust the height, so you left the height also at 1080 (at 2:16). I get different size images when I do this compared to when I enter 1350 in the height. Resize to fit box is checked tho.
    What should I do?

    • @richardmalmberg7722
      @richardmalmberg7722 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you need to crop your image in Lightroom/photoshop at a 4 x 5 ratio for a "portrait" image. The 4 is the width (1080) and the 5, the height will be 1350. For a landscape orientation use 1.91 x 1 ratio. That will be 1080 wide by 566 tall. (I get 565 for some reason)

    Thanks for the great video. Very clear. However, I am just so confused. I take most of my photos on Snapchat. I kno I kno. I shouldn’t because the ratio is a lot different and is a pain to resize to accommodate most social media platforms. But, I like the filters lol 🤦🏻‍♀️. Anyways, from my understanding you get the most quality and real estate by resizing to 1080x1350. U said ur using photoshop on ur computer. I am using iOS. And, u mentioned if u upload from fb to insta... fb only gets the same resolution that ig uses. But, there is an option to link ur Insta and fb together so u can upload from Instagram first which in turn uploads to fb. So is there a difference when doing that? And, if u resize to 2x3 it looks like u get more of the pic and it doesn’t get cropped as much. I am trying to get as much real estate as possible without having to crop it off. And, I don’t want those white borders. Either way, Snapchat’s ratio is hard because it’s really tall and not wide as most platforms require so I have came to the conclusion that I have to resize no matter what😫 but, I don’t know if I should do it separately or what. There’s just so many questions. This is so stressful. Why can’t they just make it easy. Ugh.

    This isn’t the solution. I’ve tried all this among additional things. Still bad. It seems more to do with what colors are in the photos and how dark the photo is. But if you want a specific aesthetic (like a dark vibe with a lot of red / pink color) you’re seemingly screwed.
