    Awesome truck. My dad has a 76' sitting around the home and its in okay shape. I use to drive it around back when I was younger. I'm sure i'll be fixing it up in the coming years.

    You can buy the sending unit for those trucks from LMC truck

    You can find that pickup sending unit I bought one for my td about a year ago. Don't buy the universal ones they are crap if it says universal fit it means you need to modify it
    That tank shield (skid plate ). Is a hard to find part I need one for my 76. Been looking for awhile.

    Jim, after you clean the bolts for the water pump, and chase the block threads, PUT Neversieze compound on the bolts and threads, especially the long ones that go into the block, to help seal, and if you ever have to change another water pump,it will be so much easier, and reduce the possibility of breaking off a bolt into the engine block. Been there, done that,No fun.

    The powder you found in and around the thermostat was oxidized aluminum. Probable from the water pump that was all ate up. Looks like it was caused by electrolysis caused by dissimilar metals touching each other and further exasperated by the water or coolant causing a better circuit.
