Quit my job, and haven't regretted it since. I'll have to work again someday. But the 40+ hour workweek is a social injustice. I'm in no hurry to go back to the grind. Your time is the most precious commodity you have. Don't let them rob you of your best years.

Yes! We’re conditioned to think that our productivity determines our worth. Like being burnt out and depressed means we’re a valuable member of society. It’s so backwards. I couldn’t do it anymore. I donated all my stuff and quit work, now I just don’t buy anything and live a minimal life. Finally feel at peace for the first time. 😸

Just talked to my parents about this matter. My sister is selling her 2 million house in California (1 mil mortgage). Her mansion, of 5 bathrooms and bedrooms, 3 living rooms 25 lamps, 5 couches. I always said to my sisters they both have the same house, while I was living in my big to me condo 1000sqft 1 bathroom, 1 living room hahaha 🤣 it was a simple life for us. Easy easy to clean up, cheap on electricity bill. I never had to climb the corporate ladder because I did NOT need to. I got to work from home for 7 years and 1 year in the office. I saved on daycare expenses because i worked while taking care of my child. Sold that condo, made 170k went to rent for a couple of years, a small 1 bedroom. We traveled, we relaxed, sure we worked but we didn’t work for the check, as we didn’t live paycheck to paycheck. Retired 2 years ago at 38 and cashed my condo. I have no ambition and been told that am going to get bored doing nothing. Lol 😅 if that is the case one day, then I go get a job, if I missed working and grinding. Eh? I haven’t felt bored😂 I do what I love every day, walking, hiking, skiing , biking (FREE), I am 41 now and never been fit like this. I have since traveled to Paris, Copenhagen, Umeå, next on the agenda is Thailand next month and Stockholm in the summer. I look forward to waking up everyday😊 I am here to enjoy my life and that’s that! If people wanna work themselves to the grave to just live in a mansion, and drive that Tesla/Mercedes Benz go ahead. But do know that they are working for those things and never home to enjoy their mansion which is ironic.

Jobs have a way of dehumanizing people, I have gotten laid off three times in the last 5 years, and every time I was unemployed, I felt human again because I didn’t have to wake up and go to some silly job. It’s just getting ridiculous to try and hold these jobs, when these jobs don’t really care about people. Stop calling people lazy if they don’t want to work. It’s we want to breath a little, enjoy our mornings for a change. Process our thoughts a little . And just not be stressed always because we are worrying about holding a job down

I have no car and two roommates, but I live in a great area and it’s easy to walk or bus anywhere I need to go. And recently I got a foster cat (at no personal expense). Life is good. Imagine constantly pursuing the next big investment, the next big company or profitable idea when you already have millions or billions. When do they actually get to enjoy their wealth? In my opinion the key to making this a reality is to build your retirement into your life. What this means is secure a paid for home, install solar & batteries to have power until the end, install rainwater catchment, build a large garden, raise your own meat & eggs, super insulate your home so it uses 90% less energy to heat and cool etc. This way you need very little to retire. This is what im doing and its way easier than working 40+ hr weeks for 50 years.

Video was right on and perfect timing! I just quit my 9-5 of 1 year on new year's , of course I saved money in order to do it. But I feel great don't don't have to worry about waking up on time, dealing with a bunch of attitudes. Im taking a month or 2 off to catch up around the house and everything thing else I've been putting off over the last couple 2 yrs. I get back on the grind afterwards.

As a culture, we've been moving away from envying our neighbor’s stuff to envying their peace.
And this is a good change.
We're also realizing that our time is not merely a raw commodity that has no value until we've sold it for money. We're realizing is the only thing we have of actual value.
There's a reason the capitalistic establishment has brainwashed us to feel like we're wasting our time to not use it to make more money. It's because they always win in the exchange. They're always making more off our time than we are. By a LONG shot.
There's no such thing as wasting your time when spending it on yourself.
In fact, we need to reclaim it from the idea we owe it to "them".
"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless."

I lived most of my life this way. I never felt the working world, "moving up", ambition, etc was for me. It was bizarre to spend the whole day in an office, day after day, and never really be out in the sun or stand in the sunlight. So I didn't buy into it. I never cared for material things that much either. I still have "things" of course, but sometimes I walk around the stores and happily marvel at all the stuff I do not need or want (that will sadly all become trash one day- that is what I "see". Piles of shiny future trash). I spent my money on travel and my time experiencing this world. Now, however, in my 60s, I realize I never thought about saving money for the future. I figured I could always work. and always find a place to stay, food to eat. What I did not anticipate is that I am plumb tired of working at all. There are body aches and problems. However, I still need money, and for the first time in my life I am getting a little worried. Tim, I know you have mentioned saving/investing money. I would like to hear more about that. And/or how others have managed this, or are planning to.

I only had the energy to walk away. Now, Im still working, but I work a rotational job that gives me incredible work/life balance and much needed health benefits for some health issues I have. It's the closest I feel I can get to the stage you are at(comfy and not working a brain drain job).
I think a great way to describe this instead of an "occupational awakening" is more like "Tim is handing everyone some keys to those golden handcuffs that your hustle covertly slapped on ya."

And being self employed all my life has allowed me to achieve one fo my main goals and thats to never have to use an alarm clock to wake up and to go to sleep and wake up when im tired and have gotten enough sleep.
Ive gotten lots of negative comments about it from friends and family but now days more and more of them have come to see the logic in my choice. If my family wasnt stupid we would all have pitched in to get an apartment building so we could all live close, help each other, share knowledge and most importantly live wel well below our means. Instead most of my family work to survive and get very little time to enjoy life.

A lot of families don't have money to buy ANYTHING after their bills are paid. Everything is cooked. And people have had enough.

Ha ha ha, Tim! Well done for getting to that conclusion, the one with the time off! Yes, 6 months off equals 26 years of work. That's what I say to people: look at your life with a 9 to 5: if you somehow manage to get 10 days off in a row (rare occasion, but feasible), you will obtain 10 x 50 years = 500 days off throughout your employment years. And this is IF you manage to maintain constant employment from age 18 to 68!!!! For most people, you get less than a year of days off, by this math. Sooo.... they need to really think about it, imo. Is it worth it?

They need to change the work laws. Vacation time, sick days etc. We the people deserve it.
We are not slaves !! It's coming to that point now.

Right on Tim. Most of the boomers are rich and have a scarce mentality yet they pass on the money or die rich ..you see them on cruises buying gifts for the grandkids but you never see them spending racks on themselves before they pass. Who would trade places with Warren buffet? he’s rich but he’s old! . It’s about realizing the gains, maximizing fulfillment , spending life energy appropriately

No you don’t need them, though they are the by-product of competition, which we do need in the manufacturing process. The houses, the cars, the money are simply signs of individual or corporate success. You could say we don’t need any of it… then what have you got!

@@simonrowe3124 Success is subjective, maybe you dont need this recognition of others to feel good about yourself (and it's never enough...), if you do need that, then you don't really own your life, and it's sad as this is the only one you've got, there is no second try...

I gotta keep grinding, I have been on this job for 8 months now. I am stacking crypto and silver, trying to have a little nest egg...and maybe get some passive income one day!
But I also feed my soul! At 36, I just started playing the guitar! I've always wanted to do this! Life is good! ❤

I haven't worked in 8 months, its helped with my health by reducing stress significantly. I make youtube videos for a living now. And with my time off, I've also been learning home repairs. Didn't really have time for that before. So, I've got time for personal development now.
