IISS Shangri-La Dialogue 2022: Common challenges for Asia-Pacific and European Defence

The Asia-Pacific shares security challenges with other regions. The ongoing war in Ukraine has underlined a number of challenges it faces in common with Europe in particular, from the management of regional security flashpoints to the maintenance of a rules-based order. Recent events have raised questions about plans by European nations to play a greater role in Asia-Pacific security. This plenary facilitated a conversation about shared challenges across both regions and examined constructive ways each can learn from the other.
