The old lady that checked the home for Walt is the show creator's mother.

With the exception of his family and Jesse, everyone else is collateral damage in Walt's eyes.
That's how he made it as far as he did in the criminal underworld. Gus has the same mentality. You can't be Mr. Nice Guy.
Love how Walt throws his neighbor under the bus, AND kinda throws Junior under the bus while doing so.
one thing I noticed on second viewing is that throughout the episode, we were getting little hints here and there at what a reckless manipulator he has become; coniving and willing to let others suffer in the process

Walt poisoned Jesse's girlfriend's son and made it look like Gus did it.
Then he went to Hector Salamanca and played on his weakness which was his hate for Gus.
Walter White is a Grade A master manipulator.
Agreed but with Hector it was more like they knew that they both hated each other. Hector knew Walter would benifit but he just wanted to kill Gus.
They upload their vids so early in the morning (for my timezone) that I often overlook them. Got this surprise when I was scrolling down my feed out of boredom.
