I was laughing so hard when this scene played in the cinema, the perfect homage to 90's and 00's boy bands!
Watching this in theaters was such an experience, we went opening weekend with our daughter, people were dressed up, dancing and having fun, but respectfully. It was great. 💜

The I'm Just Ken song is my favorite and the development he had at the beginning showed us how stupid he was but when he goes to the real world there he wakes up and realizes that "MEN RULE THE WORLD" and when he returns to Barbieland there He builds his empire, but in the end he throws it all away saying "I'm deconstructed" 😢

This movie would have had a more fitting ending if it was Ken instead of Barbie that went to go live in the real world
I'm genuinely curious how this would have been a more fitting ending? Ken is only beginning his journey of self-discovery and learning that he's kenough as he is without Barbie's validation at the end of the film. Barbie has had a chance to really grow as a person, but even then, the decision to embrace humanity and become a real person isn't made lightly.

Can sign language people not read? I’m so curious about this addition. Is it not distracting paying attention to two humans on simultaneously, vs just scanning a line of dialogue every now and then and focusing more on the action? It seemed a bit like Gerwig taking the whole notion of the film a bit too far and trying to be too inclusive.. Maybe I’m wrong though.. Perhaps this adds a ton to the experience of the deaf viewer..?
The interpreter provides an added layer to feel the emotion of the song, as opposed to just reading the lyrics. I can't imagine it being distracting at all for the viewers, as interpreters are included often in song performances. 🤷♂️
asl is actually a different language from english, it has its own syntax and grammar rules and its able to communicate things that subtitles cant.

Yes Deaf people can read... Having an interpreter allows for a more lively visual experience than simply reading static captions. No the director didn't go too far in being inclusive. You can pick on Max whether you want to watch the regular version or the version with the ASL interpreter
The most trash movie of the year
I love how everyone involved took the story seriously while not taking themselves seriously ~ it's a delicate balance and Greta Gerwig was the perfect choice to direct/co-write! 🩷 (My one and only problem with the movie is the absence of drag artist/Barbie enthusiast Trixie Mattel!!! 😂)
