The French are the largest consumers of butter on earth as well as the Indians. The ghee that Indians use for their cooking is actually clarified butter which is quite easy to make at home. Even butter is easy to churn if you have fresh cow's milk. My grandma from Zimbabwe used to churn hers at home, it's beautiful to watch the as the milk turns to butter.
