The government took my grandmother's house and land. So they could build The Earle Navy Pier. They were compensated but I know it wasn't much. I was born in 55 in Middletown which Leonardo was a part of.
My grandparents had a home in Leonardo, and my Dad spent a lot of time there in the 1940s .. Dad would have been in his late teens / early 20s when these images were filmed .. Starting at the 13:11 mark, and thru to 13:39, the gentleman on the right in the light suit bears a striking resemblance to my Dad - I know it's a longshot, but does anyone know this gentleman's name ??? .. If anyone was there around this time, does anyone remember the Braun family ??
I feel like a commercial, but Costco will transfer these oldies over to DVD very inexpensively. Only about $20 per two hours of film. Then you can share online, make copies and pop into your dvd player any time. I have about 40 of them and my kids get a real sense of their family history from watching them over and over!
I grew up in Portmonmouth in the 70s and 80s thank you for sharing this video .
