I was blown away to be taken back to Burgh Island - my father owned the island from around 1981 to 1985 and I worked there as a project manager for the building works, staying either on the island or at a bungalow on the Bigbury side of the beach. Many happy memories, brought back by some great filming and the usual top drawer production values. Shame Bob wasn't there to share it.
Poor Bob. He looked a bit "off" in the previous episode, so as much as i miss him I am glad he is following doctor's orders and staying home. Ted did a great job of helping hold down the fort and show Lee the ropes.
He did look a bit 'off' in last weeks episode. I thought I was the only one who noticed...poor Bob. I wish him a speedy recovery. Shingles is horrible.
As a Would I Lie to You? fan, I was disappointed at first that they didn't go more wild with zany Lee comedic possibilities, but then that's never been what this show's about, and keeping it so casual and understated helped show what a genuinely sweet man Lee seems to be, and reminded us that there will never be another Bob. To steal a phrase from Peter Beardsley, "There's only one Bob Mortimer. One Bob Mortimer."
First fish I ever hooked n landed when I was 5 I 1985 using my grandads boat rod and centerpin reel and him beside me on the pier in summer holidays wrasse about ²lb I was amazed and my grandad was well pleased cuz I out fished him it was the only fish hooked, great memories miss him, this show has that effect

Lee was gonna come on as a guest for an episode with Bob and Paul anyway. Mostly for the chats and just spending time with his 'colleagues', his non-fishing wouldn't have been under the spotlight in the same way as it was here. The narrative of him as a substitute partner only came into place when it was clear that Bob couldn't make it, due to his illness. There's a filming schedule, which had to be continued.
Back in the 80’s a friend of mine had his stag party at the Hotel, and we had a great time, we just got merry and laughed and talked and did all the things friend do. I well remember playing ping pong with Crawford, one of our number, who looked the fittest and best of us, in the basement after dinner. We were really too squiffy for it at that stage but it was fun. Only a few years later Crawford finished his routine fitness run in London, and returning home collapsing in his kitchen at a very young age with a fatal heart attack. We must all enjoy the special moments in our lives, and most importantly be aware that they are special at the time we live them. And to anyone who loves the coast and the sea I throughly recommend this place, oh and by the way I suggest you try their Cornish cream and strawberries, even if they are not so great for the old ticker. Neil and I did the day after the stag night and they were truly wonderful!
Remember guys Lee just filing in and ain't ob or can't fill the gap,,and Lee knows this and all have mutual understanding...also fellow comedians so they have respect..get well Bob.

I felt rather melancholy watching this, I don't know why, It was sad hearing Paul's tonal change when he was talking about Bob, you could tell in he was missing his friend. Get well soon Bob and hat off to Lee for stepping up. Love this show. Thanks for uploading.

💐GET WELL SOON BOB! 💐 As much as I love Lee, he was brave to attempt to fill in for Bobby, but sadly it just didn't work. It just fell flat and the warmth and humor was not there. Would have preferred Harry Enfield to have been Bob's stand-in...the work they have done together in the past is pure genius. Dawn French? David Mitchell? Greg Davies? Come on BBC!! Unless, Paul is going to surprise us by adding a different stand-in each week which might fill a teensy weensy bit of the gaping hole left by our dear Bob's absence....which I suspect will not be for many weeks or not at all this season....boooooo hooo...😭
My least favourite episode.. not the same without bob and lee Mack a vegan on a fishing show banging on about veganism didn't make any sense and he was getting in the way of good fishing . Found him annoying quite frankly

Vegetarians still contribute to animal opression and exploitation by consuming dairy milk and cheese. Vegans abstain from all animal-based products, thus not supporting industries of animal oppression and exploitation. Strange how people are against people who choose not to harm animals, it displays the social conditioning clearly.
I thought Lee did a great job as the fill-if for Bob l, but I wonder if having one of the doctors who has appeared on the show had been considered (or maybe someone like Paul Sinha?).
I think Lee is great but bit of a daft idea to send n a non fishing vega. Suppose they did their best with the situation etc. the chances of you getting any metal in the sea, is so slim. It would different n a river.

You know you can go from a non-vegan and transition to being vegan without completely throwing out your clothing and footwear, right? From that point onwards you just don't fund animal exploitation. Odd how so many comments on here are from people who are against being kind to animals.
I understand vegetarianism - it's a reasonable, sensible, (potentially) healthy and relatively cruelty-free diet and lifestyle choice. Vegetarianism is eminently 'do-able'. But veganism's extreme stance baffles me. Somewhere along the vegan timeline, animal products are bound to be involved. For instance, if the van driver delivering vegan, organic, free range vegetables is wearing leather shoes or a woollen pullover, or if he had bacon and eggs for breakfast, those veggies cannot be vegan. They're 'contaminated' by association. They're certainly vegetarian, but they can't be vegan because animals were involved (albeit indirectly) in their production. So... where do vegans (whom I'm happy to agree are decent, conscientious, compassionate people) draw the line?🤔
Ive watched these guys fishing since the start but sad to say this isnt one of the memorable episodes!! Whats the point of having lee mack who doesnt fish at all. Paul clearly missed bob and lee just ruined it really. Personally the river episodes are much better with the guys. The highlight of the episode was ted in a hat😂
