This happened in the latter stages of the Early Muslim Expansion, as the Rashidun caliphs - Umar, Uthman and Ali were assassinated, which led to the war of succession, killing of Ali's son Husayn in Karbala, and the creation of the Umayyad dynasty under Muawiyah I.

Salam Alykum, to clarify, as a Shia, the reason we mourn for Karbala is to commemorate Ashura’ to symbolise and express our grief and emotions towards the martyrdom of Imam al-Hussain (AS), to keep Imam al-Hussain’s (AS) cause alive in our hearts and to be committed to his cause. Also, we want to extract lessons from the tragedy of Karbala and apply them to our daily lives. Furthermore, crying for Imam al-Hussain (AS) is considered seeking nearness to Allah (SWT) for the tragedy of Karbala is bound to the great sacrifice which Imam al-Hussain (AS) endured for the sake of Allah (SWT) and for Islam. It is only when your heart is soft and absorbable that you feel the sense of closeness to Allah (SWT). The Holy Qur’an praises crying and those who cry for a legitimate cause. The Holy Qur’an describes many of the Prophets and their followers when they cried, “When the verses of the Most Gracious were recited unto them, they fell down prostrating and weeping”
Are we just meant to look at this event, "Oh, it was sad, but move on." Like Imam Hussain's (AS) sacrifice was nothing significant in the face of Islam.
Muhammad SAW himself cried when Hussain was born in his arms. Umm Salamah has said: "al-Hussain entered on the Prophet (S), while I was sitting at the door, so I saw in the hand of the Prophet (S) something he turned over while (Hussain) sleeping on his stomach. I said: Oh messenger of Allah, I looked and saw you turning something over in your hand when the kid was sleeping on your stomach and your tears were pouring? He said: Gabriel came to me with the sand upon which he (Hussain) will be killed. And he informed me that my nation (umma) will kill him."
The prophet SAW himself said that in a hadith (in Sunni books), that "I leave behind two weighty things, hold on to them and you will never go astray, the Quran and my Ahlulbayt (people of his household)." (Sahih Muslim 2408)
Look Akhi, I understand your Perspective, you have to stand by your Sunni Theology. But do not denounce our sect and Ideology as deviant from Islam without understanding where our Perspective comes from. I mean I get it, there are some extremists in our sect that worship the Imams and flagellate, but this do not represent our views. But, hey at the end of the day, we are all one Ummmah still. Jazkallah!

First of all Prophet S.A.W was not illiterate. Illiterate are the those people who call him this. Prophet s.a.w didn’t used pen in his early and most of his life is because people would have blamed that He s.a.w has written Quran by himself and it was not revealed by God. So correct yourself. Secondly if Prophet s.a.w asked to give him pen & paper l, he should have been given that immediately because Holy Quran urges us to follow what Prophet s.a.w orders. Umar should not have interrupted at that moment and let Prophet s.a.w write. If he had not interrupted at that time, maybe there must not have this schism in Islam today.

"Why would this matter be left vague?" The vagueness of much of the Quran is the reason there are thousands and thousands of lines of hadith, and even disagreements today over their exact meaning.

    • @MuslimMindsUS
      @MuslimMindsUS  ปีที่แล้ว

Hadith are accounts of anything the Prophet Muhammad SAW said and his actions, some stuff is regarding Quranic explanations but thousands of hadith are on the way of life of being a Muslim.
Explanation of the Quran is called Tasfeer. Hadith and Tasfeer are not the same thing.
Thanks for your comment and hope this explanation helps to clarify the distinction between Tasfeer and Hadith.

@@MuslimMindsUS You did not address this person's question of why this matter was left vague. I would answer that political matters were often not something Allah revealed through the Quran. It was more so the Hadith. So, I agree with your explanation that most Hadith did not pertain to tafsir (exegesis), but it is true there are different interpretations of the Quran based on different Hadith/interpretations of Hadith (tashreeh). Here, the disagreement over the issue of succession is directly tied to differences in Hadith pertaining to these events in history and not to Hadith relating to the Quran, though I agree that this is such an important issue that should have been explicitly stated in the Quran, but if it ever was, it would have created fragmentation in the following of Mohammad and dissent for whoever was mentioned. So, maybe it is best it wasn't mentioned, though I guess it didn't stop the fragmentation from occurring years after the prophet's death.
Today, we do not know if Ali genuinely believed he and his sons were the prophet's rightful and only successors. We also do not know if the prophet ever intended Ali to be his successor. However, we have Ali's actions to learn from which support the Shia narrative. Ali did not submit to Abu Bakr and Omar until Fatima passed away six months after the passing of the prophet. Abu Bakr appointed Omar, not the Shura. The deciding vote in the conflicted Shura for Uthman was his brother-in-law Abdurrahman Ibn Awf, so there is room for bias in this election as well. Meanwhile, Ali tried to steer away from politics. When Ali did become Khalifah, he was opposed by Uthman's family members who Uthman put in positions of power and who eventually consolidated power away from Ali and his sons and murdered Hussain. Yet, Sunni Islam makes excuses for Yazid and does not accept that any of this was over the right to be Khalifah and pretends this was all some kindly debate between loving brothers. These were matters of politics and power, and Ali and his sons and the vast majority of the prophet's tribe opposed the Umayyads.
Thus, again, though the hadith are conflicting and Shias mostly disregard Sunni hadith and Sunnis disregard Shia hadith as gher sahih (not authentic), there is an authenticity to the Shia argument from these actions that are not debatable. This is all coming from a Sunni who studied the sihah sittah (6 authentic hadith books in Sunni Islam) and was taught Hanafi fiqh (jurisprudence) and Maturidi aqeedah (creed). So, this is an easy submission I can make with my knowledge of what is agreed upon by my branch of Islamic tradition. I do not know the Shia hadith and traditions, but even without that contextual knowledge, one can see where their objections begin.

Two questions from the Sunnis... First, it is mentioned in Sehah Setheh(صحاح سته) (one of the most reliable books of hadiths of the Sunnis) and our books about the return of the Promised Mahdi, and it is a valid hadith. Introduce someone as the imam of the time so that we all don't have to wait so long and the problems will be solved... why don't you do this if you believe that the imam must be appointed by God and it is not our job, then why did you forget the incident of (غدیر) Ghadir after the death of the prophet and You yourself chose the successor and caliph by the Thaqifa(ثقیفه) Council...so do the same thing now...the last Imam of the era has signs such as mastery over jinn and human beings and being knowledgeable about all sciences and connecting to the unseen source, so you can't do this. Find someone and introduce them, and it was also wrong in the case of Shovara Thaqifa that you put down the words of the Prophet and said that God's book is enough for us (حسبنا کتب الله)and you did not allow the Prophet to make a will in the last moments of his life. He said, let me bequeath you so that you will never go astray after me(إِنِّی تَارِکٌ فِیکُمُ الثَّقَلَیْنِ کِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَ عِتْرَتِی أَهْلَ بَیْتِی ما إِنْ تَمَسَّکْتُمْ بهما لَنْ تَضلُّوا أبَداً و إنّهما لَنْ یَفْتَرِقا حَتى یَرِدا عَلَیَّ الحَوْضَ) Indeed, I am leaving two precious things among you, the Book of God and my Ahl al-Bayt, as long as you cling to these two precious things, you will not go astray. These two will not be separated from each other until they return to me on the Day of Resurrection by the side of the Kausar pool, and Umar said at that moment that the prophet of delirium says,(ان الرجل لیهجر) In the case that the Prophet (PBUH) His words are not from himself, but from the side of God And the second is the unanswered question of Allamah Amini from Ahl al-Sunnat. It is stated in hadiths and authentic books that anyone who dies and does not know the Imam of his time dies the death of ignorance. (Musnad of Hanbal, Musnad of Ahmad, vol. 28, p. 88) So where was the Imam of the time of Fatima, the daughter of the Messenger of God, at the time of her death? If we say that he did not know that Na'udz is God, then we should say that Fatimah died an ignorant death, and if we say that it was Abu Bakr, that Fatimah was very upset and angry with him at the end of her life, and it was this sadness that caused her to die (Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 3, p. 112, Hadad 2926). ) So the Imam of her time was not Abu Bakr...our path diverges from yours here and it doesn't matter whether the number of the Shia population is more or Sunni...
After all, if the Prophet and in the incident of Ghadir, the word Wilayat means friendship (did the Prophet, in that hot weather and during his last Hajj, when he wanted to say the most important commandments to the people, kept all the people in the desert around the wells of Ghadir and told them who stayed behind and moved on, said to come back and say something important and say that whoever I am his friend from now on Ali is his friend? Can you force someone to love another person, for example, that person is someone who He killed your father, can you still really love him? Is it not good, or is it true that the word Mullah means obedience and guardianship? And there is a more important message that God said in the Qur'an, O Prophet, O Prophet, convey what is to It has been revealed to you that if you don't do this, your prophethood is not complete and God will protect you from the evil of people... Surah Ma'idah verse 67) that if we consider the words "Wali" and "Vilayat" in the meaning of friendship, then again How well did they fulfill the right of friendship with the children of the Prophet!!! They either killed or poisoned them, and what they did to the Prophet's family in the Karbala incident... When you want to go on a long journey, you leave a guardian and a substitute for your home, as the famous saying goes, be the man of the house. How did the Prophet leave his Ummah without introducing a successor? ... never ever ... the problem is that you don't want to accept it, otherwise the truth is brighter and more obvious than the sun

One more thing they are forgetting Abu bakr, Umar were in power at that time and who he is power can write the history however, and can hide whatever he wants..
Prophet Mohammed (SAW) himself said "I am leaving 2 things among you, Quran and my Ahly bait .. than nothing else left to prove. End

After the death of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his holy progeny), Muslims had two options for seeking guidance from; the ahlulbayt (family) of the holy Prophet. Others.
The ahlulbayt are those family members of the holy Prophet who grew up in his blessed lap. Islam, Qur'an and the Shari'a was revealed in their house. The angels descended with the blessings and salutations from Allah into their house. Muslims are obligated to send blessings upon not only their Prophet alone in their daily prayers/salat but also his holy progeny. They are the people about whom Allah testifies of their purity, cleanliness, infallibility and perfection in the holy Qur'an.
The holy Prophet left behind him the Book of Allah, the holy Qur'an and his holy progeny.
They are the inheritors of the holy Prophet's knowledge, wisdom and characteristics.
The holy Prophet loved them the most and they loved him the most.
Who can understand Islam, Qur'an, the Shari'a and the sunnah of the holy Prophet better than the people of the house?
As regards to the others, we are not sure about the state of their iman, source of their knowledge, information, guidance and understanding about Islam.
The truth of the matter is that the vast majority of Muslims are victims of prejudice, ignorance, brainwashing, misconceptions and misinformation when it comes to the school of the holy ahlulbayt
    (a s).
Muslims need to study the biographies of personalities like the holy Prophet Muhammad, his beloved daughter Fatima, her husband Ali and their sons Hasan and Husain (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all).
They also need to look into the history of Islam, especially events such as:-
    Da'wat-e-Zul Ashira
    Mubahila
    The event of Ghadir-e-Khum
    Saqifa

They do not specifically pray to Ali Or Hussain or Hassan ra but they might say "O Ali Help me" and calls it as mediation/intercession although they know its not just mediation. They attributes power to them, that Allah has bestowed power to them as helpers. They do not pray to the pictures of the Imams or anything.. and another thing: there is nothing wrong for showing grief. prophet yakub lost his eyesight as he was mourning for his son yusuf (as). and this is the family of the prophet which has been wronged. so remembering them is not at all contrary to islamic teachings.
one last thing i would like to mention is that, we don't pray to the ahlulbayt , we obey their command as we believe that rasulallah and after him, imam ali, imam hassan and hussain are the representatives of god on earth. god doesn't come on earth and tells us what to do. he appoints a khalif who is representing his will. so we obey their command, as they are representing the will of god. this is what god told us to do. he ordered his angels to prostrate in front of nabi adam. the only one who didn't do it, was iblis. he said, i will only prostrate in front of god and not a human being. at that point, god wanted to show the angels that adam (his representative) has to be obeyed without any hesitation. the prostration of the angels was not an act of worship, it was an act obedience. likewise when we follow the prophet, imam ali or hassan and hussain, it's not as if we are worshipping them. we are obeying them.

thank you for being respectful towards both sects. i just think, that shias hold ali more eligible as khalif as they understand the word "mawl " (mentioned in ghadir khum) as a religious and political leader. so obviously we all believe that rasulallah only conveyed the messages of god. therefore shias think that appointing ali as the next khalif was a direct order of god. sunnis think that mawla means a spiritual leader as ali was known for his asceticism.
i think the schism starts at ghadir.

So if I understand your point of view correctly. The Prophet (sawas) would have stopped a carvan, waited for the arrival and return of all the Muslims just to say that Imam Ali (as) is a venerable companion. This makes no sense, all Muslims have known this for a long time. Moreover that day, all the Muslims present gave him allegiance, for what reason if not to affirm that he is indeed the successor of the Prophet (sawas)? And what about the will that the Prophet (sawas) wanted to write just before his death and Omar's refusal to let him write saying that he no longer has his head and that he is delirious? I would add that there are also differences in belief and practice despite your assertions.

    Salaam Alaikum Brothers,
Please look more in detail of the history of Islam including Pre Islam, as there are clues which can help enlighten your souls in this life and the next.
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did designate Imam Ali (AS) as the Caliph on many occasions did state this, which the first time had been in Mecca.
The gathering of the Quraish when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) announced his mission:
Which of you, then, will help me in this, and be my brother, mine executor and my successor amongst you?’ All remained silent, except for the youthful ʿAlī who spoke up: ‘O Prophet of God, I will be thy helper in this.’ The Prophet then placed his hand on ʿAlī’s neck and said, ‘This is my brother, mine executor and my successor amongst you. Hearken unto him and obey him.’
(Ibn Ishaq, Sirat Rasul Allah [Earliest Biography of the Prophet], tr. A Guilaume, The Life of Muhammad, 118)
I can continue showing more evidence from the Sunnah school of thought without bringing proofs from the Shia school of thought, but it’s better for you to unlock this door and walk through it as with this Hadith was just a glimpse through the key hole.
Just to finally say my brothers in Faith, this Hadith is narrated in Sahih Muslim as some take the Hadith Thaqlain as “The book of Allah and my Sunnah” but this is actually the full Hadith which does state the Quran and something just as important which had been repeated 3 times to express the importance:
"Lo, O people, I am only a human being and I am about to respond to the messenger of my Lord [i.e. the call of death]. I am leaving behind two precious things (thaqalayn) among you. The first of the two is the Book of Allah. In it is guidance and light. So get hold of the Book of Allah and adhere to it." Then he urged and motivated (us) regarding the Book of Allah. Then he said, "And my Ahlul Bayt (family). I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahlul Bayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahlul Bayt. I urge you to remember God regarding my Ahlul Bayt"'" ....
(Sahih Muslim, part 7, Kitab fada'il al-Sahabah [Maktabat wa Matba’at Muhammad ‘Ali Subayh wa Awladuhu: Cairo] pp. 122-123.)
May Allah (SWT) always be with you Insha’Allah 💚

My brother you have my heart as I also do not consider them kafirs as most ignorant people would.. Shias do believe in Allah and The Last Prophet and The Holy Quran which makes them Muslim... Yes some of their beliefs and practices are totally against Islam but those still do not make them Kafirs. May Allah guide them and guide us.. MaShaAllah You my brother are very sensible and understanding

The prophet SAW himself said that in a hadith (in Sunni books), that "I leave behind two weighty things, hold on to them and you will never go astray, the Quran and my Ahlulbayt (people of his household)." (Sahih Muslim 2408)

Those are Alawaites (extremist subsect of Shia that actually worship the Imams), and they don't represent Shia Islam. When we Say Ya Ali, the only way we believe that Imam Ali helps us is by making dua for us to Allah SWT, and because he is a righteous servant, we believe Allah will grant Imam Ali his requests. This simply means Imam Ali is an intercessor. Basically like our Lawyer infront of Allah SWT. We also believe it is haram to say Imam Ali is dead because the Quran says not to call martyrs of Islam dead.
      In the Quran we read:
"And do not say about those who are killed in the way of Allah , "They are dead." Rather, they are alive, but you perceive [it] not." - Surah 2:154
"And never think of those who have been killed in the cause of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision" - Surah 3:169
According to this authentic Hadith ( sunnah.com/tirmidhi:3721 ) Imam Ali (AS) was the second most beloved creation of Allah in the eyes of Allah [the first is the prophet PBUH&HP].
Also according to this Sahih Hadith ( sunnah.com/bukhari:3009 ) Allah loves Imam Ali (AS).
According to this Sahih Hadith ( sunnah.com/bukhari:6502 ) when a pious servant of Allah reaches a level that Allah loves him, Allah becomes his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Allah, Allah will give him.
Imam Ali (AS) was martyred and according to the Quran (2:154) he is not dead, rather he is alive.
      Conclusion:
If we ask Imam Ali (AS) to pray for our needs before Allah [by saying Ya Ali], Imam hears us and if he pray for us, surely Allah will grant him what he has asked for.

1 Brother saying that the Prophet Muhammad pbuh wasn’t wise and thoughtful enough to leave a successor after himself.
Most Sunnis believe that the community/ people back then had to choose the successor I mean this very wise cuz the community knew better who to choose as a Khalifa than the Prophet himself! -> Note: The prophet and Imam the one who choose them is Allah not the community.
Sunnis in case of the Ghadir event believe that prophet Mohammad pbuh gathered 100 000 men on way back in hot sunny day just to announce O people Ali is my friend and love him! Very reasonable
Stop being ignorant and jealous this is exactly what the 2 first Khalifa Abubakr and Umar was poison with also greedy of power and this led them to do whatever injustice you could find in this world to Imam Ali. For what Allah gave to Ali his family the ملکن عظیم ( the Imamat) and Fatima the daughter of prophet Muhammad pbuh when everyone went to ask Fatima Zahra (as) hand the Prophet used to say in this case I’m not the one who decides whom Fatima should marry rather that’s Allah who decides and Allah already made decision and that person is Imam Ali (as). Here when jealousy hit the 2 first Khalifa to do those horrible things to Ahlulbayt.
Everything that being said until now is in your own Sahihain books ( S Bukhari & S Muslim) go read them with open heart and mind moreover do a research on Shia Islam trust me you will not regret it rather you will be thankfull to Allah your whole life. DARE AND YOU
Allah bless you all Muslims and none Muslims.

But long before islam came into existence kaba was already there
It was a pagan temple,, Muhammad the prophet of islam destroyed all the idols from that and cleansed the kaba stone declaring it as"Allah's house as some non muslim historians and even some ex muslim people says

    • @MuslimMindsUS

Hey Thomas! According to Islamic belief, The Kaaba was established by Ibrahim (AS) aka Abraham. It’s simply a temple for worshipping Allah/God. It was corrupted by Paganism over time then Muhammad (SAW) returned it to its original function.
We are all Abraham faiths, Islam is simply the final and last religion in the line.

As Shia! Let explain the whole story! First Muhammad never said their will be a Caliphate but said Ali is your master. Second Instead preparing for burial of prophet Muhammad. Umar & Abu Baker was was sharing Islamic empire amongst themselves. Put yourself in shoes of Muhammad a.s imagine you passed away & you have 3 friends & 2 of them sharing their your property amongst themselves at the time of your death & 1 preparing your body for your funeral. Who would you trust? Third Umar rejected order of prophet Muhammad a.s while he was alive & how can you expect him to follow afterward. It’s straight forward disrespect the prophet’s authority. Shame! The attack house of Ali is based on truth which we later witness when the during the battle of Karbala. When the same family of Bin Ummayn attack prophet’s family & Massacre them. Ali didn’t do anything because he didn’t want to start a civil war amongst Muslim. That’s why he let his daughter to marry Umar to show for peace. It’s common tradition in Arab even to this day .A great example of Ali‘s humbleness which we witness later when Ashia fought against Ali & Ali was winning & still showed Mercy! & that’s later follower bin Ummay family killed Ali. Idk How can you’ll be so blind ignorant? 🧑‍🦯🧑‍🦯

I completely agree with you 100%. They don't know 1% of history. Only siding whats supporting their sunni beliefs but not the real truth and history events. I can openly challenge We Shia Muslims have history knowledge with evidence when it comes to debate or prove something which these people don't like as they use words of Hadith in everything yet never follows.
No wonder when it comes to their beloved Sahaba's . They will ignore the disrespect of Prophet and his family's rights. Because these people are so busy proving their sahaba's right and God's prophet and Ahly Bait wrong.
Surely, Its not the eyes are blind but the hearts..

You guys say why did they innovate? .. they didn’t. You’re following a version of Islam with hadiths written by the seedlings of Yazid, it’s you that’s following innovations just think for a second if you have any kind of intelligence. The people who hated the prophet and his family controlled and wrote hadiths for hundreds of years do you really think it’s the people who follow the path of the prophet and his family are the misguided ones and not the ones who follow the ummayads who are Abi Sufyans descendants
