Philip has a wonderful sense of humor, and I believe that he has made a very pointed point to the US Postal service! Great to see Henry in there, I've heard his voice, but don't believe I've ever seen him before. You must be very proud of him, he looks like a terrific kid. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Great use for the little arbor press. I would have enjoyed that too, as a young fellow. I made a nice sturdy wooden box to send a motorcycle crankshaft to get some work done on it, and of course it came back, minus my handy work. Someone must have liked it.
Good morning Lyle, Seeing how well fortified that box was, I’m surprised that Homeland Security didn’t screen it, looking for something illegal. I just learned a new way to crack walnuts. Thanks Henry.
I spent about 4 hours making a box for an Aloris CXA QCTP with toolholders. I used some OSB, pallete boards, nail gun for fixturing and wood screws for the actual assembly. I had some styrofoam from the toolchest I recently bought, so I used it to secure the goods. The total weight of the package was 24.45 kg (about 50 lb?). From what I know, delivery service was not able to damage anything. Though, thankfully, it was not USPS or FedEx, or whatever horible ones you have (judging strictly by yours and others reviews).
We used to use a old hacksaw blade to undercut mica on armatures. We would grind a hook shape on the end and scrape between the segments. DC motors were phased out in industry and replaced with ac motors and vfd’s.
G'mornin' Mr Pete. Love my 1st period shop class! I always said you could pack a cannonball in bubble wrap and packing peanuts and the USPS could still find a way to break it. I'm revising that theory after seeing this.
Looking Great this evening Lyle, where is Mrs Pete, give her our best wishes from down in chilly Orlando…your video of your dads SB and the chuck key modification inspired me to head the shop and organize…well, instead of clearing up the jumble, I ended up on the 13” SB and fixed the shanks on a few SILVER And Demming drills that I acquired ages ago and were useless due to abuse by others, one had a new shank welded on and looked like a beaver had chewed the shank…it ran off center by 3/32”….wishing you a wonderful Christmas…Paulie Brown ❤❤❤❤
Morning Sir, Love to get up early and see a new video from F.S.T., our " Favorite Shop Teacher". With all the measuring devices you have access to, I'm surprised you didn't measure the thickness of the plywood and assumed it was 3/4". By the number of layers showing, I would bet, that besides the over kill of bubble wrap that plywood is greater than 3/4". There I wrote something. Merry Christmas to you and your family. God Bless
I bought a 1960's Skil saw, with the original steel box, off a Gentleman on Ebay, about 10 years ago. He constructed a wooden shipping case just as robust, as the one you received, I couldn't thank him enough. By the way, I could use one of those handles for my lathe, if anyone has one available. Merry Christmas Mr. Pete!
Mr. Pete, It would be great if you could make a video on how to use this under cutter on your Atlas 618 and if you find out where under cutters can be purchased…..
That would be a useful attachment. I have grampas 12" craftsman lathe. he was an electrician from the 40's-90's and rebuilt hundreds of motors on that lathe. i have the Jacobs armature chuck you showed in one of your videos, but always hand cut the mica with a hacksaw blade.
the USPS is always ready for a pay raise but not much on quality of service, in fact a former post master told me" good luck if you have to put in a claim for lost packages"
HEY..,.MR PETE.....I just watched a video that had a steel, wedge type interchangeable tool holder that might fit the 6 x 18 lathes. FINEMALL on E Bay looks great. I made a piston type many many years ago for my 6/18 lathes. Have a look.
You see? You have to have an almost indestructible box, and probably the insurance on it, and then hope beyond hope that they deliver it to the right address. But then, there is nothing stopping them from running it over with the mail truck, is there. That is quite the nutcracker you got there.
when it comes to shipping ! if you put fragile on it ! then more then likely they will drop lick it ! i like how they made a box in a box ! i have done the same with 3/8 glued ! but 3/4 screwed ! that's usps proof !
you should do a series next year on "metal shop Christmas gifts" like the nut cracker....I would have made some if I could have thought of some. I would want to make 10. I have hickory trees so I would make the nut cracker now. 2025 machines you would like to have during the end of times.
@@mrpete222 should do a shout out for idea's in july. I make tools for the guys at work. alignment bars that suit what we do well. pin punches. transfer punches 9/16, 11,/6,13/16.anything else that is ever requested. All I ask is how It could be better for th use of it.
Those marking guages they sell that are made of metal have cutters about that size. Lee Nielson sell them and so do several other companies. Taylor Tools might give the better price.
Brian from Ma.Good morning Mr.Pete great to see (You and your Grandson )and hear comes the pecans lol .Im interested to see if you under cut the framika on starter we just pulled a 15 year old beater car out a barn I rebuilt starter no go I think under cut was reason and I love the lessons anywho .I hope you and your family have a very.Merry Christmas . P.S I wonder if some woman hate candles as much as men hate oldspice lol Besafe
That would be great, thanks! Yes, I very much want them if they are thin ones. You will find my mailing address in the following video of mine. “ Christmas special, Mr. Pete machine shop video courses” Thank you very very much
Thanks Mr Pete. I can’t wait to see the videos on how to use this tool.
Merry Christmas Lyle and Wonderful Family. Nice packing and great repair. Thank you for sharing. Good seeing Henry at work.
Merry Christmas
Beautiful knife you made
Thank You Phillip ! You made Mr. Pete’s day 😃👍❤️

Great unpacking glad to see it made it there ok !!!
Good morning Lyle,
Seeing how well fortified that box was, I’m surprised that Homeland Security didn’t screen it, looking for something illegal.
I just learned a new way to crack walnuts.
Thanks Henry.
Very true, of course they don’t care one bit about 10 million people coming across the border
Thank goodness that will change next month.
The problem now is getting back the wall panels that disgraceful loser in Washington is trying to scrap.
@mrpete222 Another reason some of us like your channel, decent, patriot values. Du.
Great, Saturday morning class.
Morning Mr. Pete
Morning!
That packaging is what I would call bullet-proof !!! John
What a great packaging job!
Glade you taped your address this time 🤠
Glad you noticed that, I’m getting better at this.
Thanks Mr. Pete
PS nice to see the grandkids enjoying

That's a really cool idea!
If you throw your package out from a second floor window and it falls onto concrete, then it would almost emulate what it goes through when shipped.
We used to use a old hacksaw blade to undercut mica on armatures. We would grind a hook shape on the end and scrape between the segments. DC motors were phased out in industry and replaced with ac motors and vfd’s.
That’s exactly how I did it when I was a teenager
Me too, still have a modified hack saw blade in my tool box!Merry Christmas to all.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and yours Mr Pete
Thanks for sharing 👍 and Merry Christmas to you and your family 😊
Merry Christmas
☕️+The Petes+Sat morning = Right on👍🏻
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas
Great packaging job by Phillip. Happy Holidays to you and your family. From Iowa.
Did you notice the crunched corner of the plywood box--and the corresponding smooshed corner of the cardboard shipping container?
They TRIED!
Love that comment. Wish I could give it three thumbs up. 😂😂
👍👍👍
Looks like he cut up a concrete form to make that box!

Love that little arbor press nut cracker. Darn, now I'm gonna have to make one to go with the bookpress/anvil nutcracker that I made last year.
👍👍
Well howdy and happy Holidays Lyle, and a special hi to Henry too 🎉
Merry Christmas
Henry is getting big.
Merry Christmas Mr. Pete.
Merry Christmas Mr. Pete!
Merry Christmas!
Is that Henry? I'd be proud to have a grandson like that. Merry Christmas, Mr. Pete.

Nice one, Phillip. HIYA Henry. Merry Christmas.
He says hi
😊
Wow, where has the time gone. I remember when Henry was just a tiny baby wrapped up in your tool box.
Yes, I have to go back and watch that video
Nice video and I love the little arbor press👌👍 you will get blades from Martindale😊
Thanks for the info

I've been corrected, , , You are the "F.I.S.T. " Mr. Pete. Favorite INTERNET Shop Teacher. 👍

I love it when someone cares enough to package an an item that will survive the Rigers of shipping
I just realized my single and double ball cranks are broken not the hand wheel after all.
Mr. Pete, It would be great if you could make a video on how to use this under cutter on your Atlas 618 and if you find out where under cutters can be purchased…..
I probably will if I can find the cutters

Actually, up until now the only way I ever undercut armatures was with a hacksaw blade
and the gift wheel has the peefect patina !
Yes
North Carolina is a major source of mica. Especially in the Spruce Pine and Franklin- Sylvia areas.
That’s interesting, I wondered where it came from
I forgot to tell you merry Christmas to you and your family
Morning Lyle
Philip for Postmaster General!
He’s way too smart for that position
@@mrpete222 LOL
the USPS is always ready for a pay raise but not much on quality of service, in fact a former post master told me" good luck if you have to put in a claim for lost packages"
That’s what she told me at our local post office. She was the post mistress and she was worthless and should have been fired.

Bubba would use a hammer and some JB Weld to put it back together... Great video.
True
Merry Christmas from the oldest town in Texas, Nacogdoches.
Merry Christmas
Now, that's a shipping box!
Yes

This box would’ve been unfazed by the wheels of a male truck. So I am sure they would outsourced the destruction to someone with a back hoe

fyi for lyle.
usually get notifications for vids on Saturday morning. didn't this morning. had to go look for iit today.
😂
Seems since 2016, USPS has reduced routes and shipping efficiency to rural areas. And really bad packaging LOL!
Have you shown in a video how the damaged cutter attachment was packaged?
No, because I did not want to hurt the feelings of the man who sent it to me
The cutters are available from numerous vendors off Amazon.
Be more specific, who what where and how. And please put it in another comment so I will see it.
Hello Henry 😊

Thats Fancy , my repair manuals show to cut the Mica with a hacksaw blade .
That’s how I crudely did it as a teenager, and it worked
Phillip is one A OK man……

I hope to make that armature video if I can find cutters. Luckily, my wife doesn’t seem to be interested in candles, thank goodness. Merry Christmas.
Mr. Peat
He probably has 30$ in plywood making that box !
plus shipping !
True
I see no reason for this to be a temporary video. Leave it up. Won't hurt nothing. 😀
Shelling pecans for pie or cookies?
USPS wasnt going to damage that hand wheel.
I am sure they tried and were defeated
Cheers
A nutcracker project???
👍🏻
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
😀😀😀😀😀
I bet that was shipped by Bubba Express 😊
Yes
Nice
I have about 15 of those cutters. Let me know if you want them. They also make slitting saws in a very similar size. PM me if you want em.
That would be great, thanks!
Yes, I very much want them if they are thin ones.
You will find my mailing address in the following video of mine.

That is a grinder mounted on a milling attachment for the lathe.
