I *love* "Come Along!" Matt's bass notes get me right to my core, Kevin goes off the RAILS with his beatboxing, Scott and Kirstin are flawless as usual, and there's even a tiny little Mitch-Slap in there :D
I love that you recognized the chromatic drop and I also love that you recognized it as something very common in gospel music. They always add the sauce but they added that Louisiana Hot Sauce on this one.
I love how much you catch and teach us about music. I can hear the vibe but not know why it is. You explain it so well. I always love seeing reactions to this because anyone who know anything about music always freak out at that chromatic (?) part, while amateurs at most say "oh, that's cool". The absolute nerdy glee musically knowledgeable reactors get from that is beautiful to see!
Pentatonix Christmas Playlist: O Come All Ye Faithful (my favorite) Carol of the Bells (I think the very first Christmas video they've done) 12 Days of Christmas (mindblowing) That's Christmas to Me (a PTX original) Silent Night (live) You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen Little Drummer Boy Making Christmas (from A Nightmare Before Christmas) Winter Wonderland/Don't Worry Be Happy (with Tori Kelly) Thank You (another PTX original) God Only Knows (not a Christmas song, but was on a Christmas album and the video is Christmasy) and of course, Mary, Did You Know? and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, but you already reacted to those
Totally agree with this list but would like to add a few that are on the christmas albums: Coldest WInter Up On The Housetop Sweater Weather Deck The Halls
I was pretty much going to come up with a list more or less exactly like this, but now I don't have to. YAY! This list is absolutely spot on. The only addition I can think of to add is the "Fa la la la la" song... um... errrr.... "Deck the Halls!" That one is crazy! It's like every lyric they're switching things around, which is pretty much one of their signature moves.
PTX has a playlist on their channel called Pentatonix's Ultimate Christmas TH-cam Playlist with all their christmas songs and videos I would just dig through it and find something that interests you! They go craaaazy with the arrangements for christmas songs they're either full of beautiful harmonies or just straight bangers and you never know which one you'll get lol o come all ye faithful goes HARD
Dave, PTX has several Christmas playlists on their page. The best one that includes videos across all the albums is named “Pentatonix’s Ultimate Christmas TH-cam Playlist”, and has 80 videos. I can’t wait for you to get started 😎
Dave - I appreciate you so much! I love this song and as is often the case, I don’t know why I just feel it and love it. Then you come along and break it down, providing all of that musical knowledge, and with that understanding I love it even more. I knew there had to be a name for that super interesting thing they did and now I know. Chromatic descension. Hardly anyone notices this and i always wonder why cuz it sounds so cool. Thank you! As for Christmas music, I was never into it until I discovered PTX. A few of my favs include The First Noel, O Come All Ye Faithful, Joyful joyful (live 2021 Evergreen concert), Silent Night live in a cathedral, That’s Christmas To Me (original written by KO). There are so many. Wish I could hook you up with my Spotify playlist. 🎅🏻🎄🎁
Thanks Dave. I've heard PTX songs many times before, but the energy and knowledge you pour into your reactions, let me enjoy their music with new eyes and ears.
And of course once he reacts to the official video of "A-ha" all of us Pentaholics are going to want to see Dave's face melt off when he reacts to the live version of "A-ha" in Singapore.
I'd love to see your reaction to their Christmas original songs Evergreen (this has a guitar in it), and Thank You (piano and cello). They are both beautiful!
Dave. Watch "The Prayer" and at the end PTX share a link to their Christmas playlist with 80 songs - not all videos, some audio only. FILL YOUR BOOTS :)
If you ever have the time, please react to PTX song Gold. It is live and shows what each person is doing and no extra tracks. Your musical knowledge will let me know the important things I might be missing. I do not have your listening skills.
Love these fun ones! And I giggled when you found the “chromatic” whatchamacallit towards the end. Looking forward to Christmas, recommend “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Also can recommend Superfruit “Imaginary Parties” for another fun song. Keep ‘‘em coming! Peace from Ohio … Sorry, just found that you already did Sugar Plum. So, here’s another: Superfruit Hip Hop Goes Broadway I and II, major fun, be sure to wait for the bloopers at the end.
Can’t wait for Christmas this year! And Pentatonix has a LARGE Christmas playlist to choose from. Some of the best older throwback are OCome All Ye Faithful, thier 1st Joy to the world, Silent Night, Carol of the Bells, White winter hymnal… And of course Mary Did You Know, but I think you may have reacted to that. They did a live concert at BYU that was amazing last fall and I think you can find the individual songs out there to react to. . And their PTXperience Christmas tour last year you can find all of the songs out there to listen to and my favorite was Joyful Joyful!! Can’t wait!! Love your reactions!! ❤
Loved you breaking this down deep for our better understanding of the style they're using. I loved learning more. A music theory class that was enjoyable. And it's clear that you loved the song too. Thank you so much!
Dave, I am on an a total binge of your PTX and Superfruit reactions! Love how expressive you are and how the music moves you. I am learning a lot from you, it helps me appreciate their music even more. My very favorite Christmas song of theirs is The First Noel. It is angelic, and Avi's voice is really showcased. It gives me chills and soothes my soul at the same time:)
This Pentatonix video is one of my favorites. Thanks for the reaction. I love watching you enjoy Pentatonix. They seemed to have been having fun making it. Pentatonix has playlists of Christmas music and videos on their PTXofficial TH-cam channel.
Love the reaction my man!! I really enjoy how you get into the music...it's cool to see. With their new album they now have right at 5.25 hours of Christmas music...We start them at 7pm Christmas eve and go straight through...Love this.
Nice! I think there was an invisible tambourine in Scott's hand . . . You have eleven years of Christmas songs to go through, including the new "Joy to the World" album for this year. As you have discovered (The Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy) some of those "Christmas" songs can be a little edgy. "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" sounds like a warning of the Apocalypse. Some are deliriously bright. Any song you pick will be memorable. I hear sleigh bells coming. Or is that Mitch?
Hello Dave. PTX does it again. This another fantastic cover - they are singing with such passion. Mitch on that last verse with his swag is just classic. Have you reacted to "Come Along" and "Havana" yet? BTW if you want to see more of PTX live performance there is a great interview with the New York Times Talks Festival (2018) where PTX did an interview, answered questions and performed about five songs, at the beginning and the end of the interview, including Attention and Havana. Hope you get a chance to react to that. The entire show is about one hour so you could break it up into segments for the interview portion and do each song separately. Also recommend the live performance of "No" with Mitch in a black bow-tie. Look out for fan videos posted after Hollywood Bowl on September 29. Great reaction as always. More PTX please.
I love the fact that you just admit the Mitch slap withyourhandmotion. But you have been getting hit by the PTX 2x4. Christmas play list: Silent night Carol of the bells Dance of the sugar plum fairy You're a mean one, Mr grinch Away in a Manger God rest ye merry gentlemen The first Noel (with Avi) The 12 days of Christmas (trust us, worth it) That's Christmas to me Joyful, Joyful (live from the tour last year) Where are you Christmas And many, many more
Good list but need Mary, Did you know on it for sure. I also like Winter Wonderland/Don't worry be jhappy with Tori Amos Great reaction, love your vibe.
Dave, the first hit on my TH-cam search for "PTX Christmas Songs" has 84 entries, a mix of audio only, live performances, and official videos. All are released by PTX. I suspect there are many more fan videos, too. Enjoy!
I've also heard it called a "chromatic walkdown." This is one of my favorite upbeat PTX songs! *ETA* - PTX would always rather cut it short and leave us wanting more. 😉
I'll send you a playlist to your twitter. I'm sure everyone else's playlist is great too. I love your reactions so so so much bc you catch EVERYTHING. BTW they have SIX Christmas albums already and another one Drops on October 28th.
Dave, not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but on PTX's channel under their playlists they have an "Ultimate Christmas Playlist" . As of this moment it shows 80 videos.
I like your reactions, but is there any way that you can reduce of change your "blockage", because it totally eliminates pleasure of watching the video ??
Come Along is another really fun one with amazing solos (of course) by everyone! Love your reactions :)
Can’t wait to see him react to Come Along ❤️🙌🙌
Yessss!!!!! One of my faves!
I *love* "Come Along!" Matt's bass notes get me right to my core, Kevin goes off the RAILS with his beatboxing, Scott and Kirstin are flawless as usual, and there's even a tiny little Mitch-Slap in there :D
Come Along is one of my fave PTX songs ever!! SO beautiful and fantastical 💖
I love that you recognized the chromatic drop and I also love that you recognized it as something very common in gospel music. They always add the sauce but they added that Louisiana Hot Sauce on this one.

Did you see that Darren Chris is opening for Pentatonix at the Hollywood bowl…
Love this comment especially "Nerdy Glee" yass!
Recommend their cover of Havana.

Yes Sir! A chromatic walk down in harmony! Phenomenal! Then the half-beat right after! So fun!!

If you haven’t seen Pentatonix’s A-ha, add it to your list! Perfect for the spooky season :)
Yes, the official video.
Also, Making Christmas.
And of course once he reacts to the official video of "A-ha" all of us Pentaholics are going to want to see Dave's face melt off when he reacts to the live version of "A-ha" in Singapore.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Pentatonix if you wanna hear Kirsten belt in her lower range
Dave. Watch "The Prayer" and at the end PTX share a link to their Christmas playlist with 80 songs - not all videos, some audio only. FILL YOUR BOOTS :)
Also, watch out for their NEW Christmas album due out 28 October!

Thank you for pointing out the literally indispensable additions of Matt and Kevin, love this song, love this cover, and love your reaction
Thing that always gets me about the chromatic descent is they do it IN HARMONY! Like WHAT??
Loved you breaking this down deep for our better understanding of the style they're using. I loved learning more. A music theory class that was enjoyable. And it's clear that you loved the song too. Thank you so much!

I have nothing to add, I just want to say again how much I enjoy your reactions! I look forward to your Christmas song reactions!
I’m hooked and absolutely love your reactions! Especially the ptx kind lol your joy and feedback is infectious.
One of their most fun covers, IMO
This Pentatonix video is one of my favorites. Thanks for the reaction. I love watching you enjoy Pentatonix. They seemed to have been having fun making it. Pentatonix has playlists of Christmas music and videos on their PTXofficial TH-cam channel.

There is a best of PTX Christmas on Amazon, just to start 😊

Dave, not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but on PTX's channel under their playlists they have an "Ultimate Christmas Playlist" . As of this moment it shows 80 videos.
Thank you! I have a lot of work to do. I wonder when I should start 🧐

"Pentatonix Ultimate Christmas TH-cam Playlist" (tried to copy the link, but failed 😔 but it was listed in the Playlists on their channel 🙃)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your musical knowledge....you don't miss much!! I don't think you have reacted to Havana (Camila Cabello cover) It is pretty sick
I like your reactions, but is there any way that you can reduce of change your "blockage", because it totally eliminates pleasure of watching the video ??
It’s the label they are signed too that blocks my video. I have no control over that.
Try the opaque mondrianish stuff many do. Or make the words smaller and offset, maybe in a color.
@@JaniceDAgostino I’ve tried a bunch of stuff over the past three years. This is what works for me. Appreciate the info!
