i had a 1968 convertible many years ago if you get two small pieces of steel that will fit under that bar over the fan one left side one right side you can put the steel under the bar with vice grips drill two holes through each side bar and steel same holes then remove the steel pieces and cut the bar between the holes on each side then remove bar. this will make it a lot less work to get that big boy out when you finish reinstall with nuts and bolts and the steel you drilled holes in you can go to maximum torque specialties for hotrod parts also the cad company for hotrod parts edelbrock makes aluminum heads and intake for that 472 that edelbrock intake may not fit under your hood i would call and ask they both sell kits for your smaller ac pump you can buy an over drive unit for that turbo 400 transmission and a bolt on fuel injection from holly that will help your milage
LS that pig! My daughter’s 68 DeVille runs good but leaks oil everywhere. Not sure which direction to go yet. Good luck on your project! I done spent a couple hundred hours on 68 DeVilles as my daughter is on her second one. Starting to know a bunch about them and how to troubleshoot/fix shit.....😂

Don’t trash any of those parts. You’d be surprised what people will buy off this car.
