Your mum is honestly so sweet and I really do understand her, I always used to tell people how if someone offered me a job abroad I'd be off without a second thought but in reality it's a very big decision to leave your home and all your friends and family :) (Also my brother is the same he seriously gets up at 4pm sometimes and I always make jokes how he wouldn't even have a jetlag if he were to fly to the US😂)

Mum could live somewhere like Geelong maybe. The fast train into Melbourne doesn't take that long. Adelaide might be quiet and small enough. If it is to retire later, then there are heaps of possibilites if dad's ordinary work is highly specialised and only available in a major city. I have a feeling though that your parents might actually prefer Perth, but that's off the table for now, as they haven't visited it. I haven't seen any yet in Victoria, but I know there are a few British style pubs in WA that serve similar food to back in the UK. Queensland is nice, but I feel as though there is a decent portion of Britons who struggle to adjust to the constant heat and humidity and lack of seasonal weather over a prolonged period. I'm reasonably sure that it is not for me. The other factor that mum probably hasn't tested out is the suburban lifestyle - most of us don't live right in the CBD and we don't really have to travel in, unless it is for work, very special shopping or entertainment. I have everything I want roughly 20km from the city centre in Melbourne, plus I have views of parks and I am right near the beach - it is possible to have the best of both worlds, especially with work from home lately.

We're not no, we're hopingggg (fingers crossed) the trade agreement comes in before november so if we do wanna come back after christmas we can come straight back in under the new laws! xx

Molly why does every young tourist backpackers always praise byron bay i m a local aussie,and i can tell you that there are much nicer places in our country than that place,try the witsundays, airlee beach or whitehaven beach,my 21 year old son will be driving his car from syd to cairns come oct after he grads uni,enjoy our aussie homeland.
