I think parents who have a favourite are risks of mental health to their children (the ones who aren’t the favourites/don’t mean as much as the others).

In your case, the proverb would have to be "The woman makes the clothes," meaning that people judge what you wear by the person who is inside them. Clear as mud, right? Okay, to restate my point in a less-proverb-dependent manner, you are a lovely person with an infectious smile and an engaging personality, so YOU make whatever outfit you wear look good. Therefore, since you rock casual, why not be comfortable?
