This is an amazing video considering I don't think anyone is playing +R that hasn't played a FG before. Explaining literally what a combo is and what all the fundamental mechanics are is rare these days.
I'm the exception then - only fighting games before this I played were Smash and ARMS. I think I might have to rewatch this a few times while practicing to fully understand everything, but having even the really basic stuff laid out is certainly very helpful!
Great guides, trying to get into this game because my internet is extremely bad and there's not much else I can play. All the guides I see online are very old, so it's nice to see something current.
@@Moqlnkn Yeah I mostly play League and Starcraft for this reason, but the new rollback on GG makes it very playable, and fighting games are my favorite, so it's hard to pass up.
Just started watching your videos, starting with the synopsis of the entire GGXXACR cast. You do a fantastic job of breaking things down and not missing a beat (pun intended). DM me if possible and let me know the best way to support you. ty
There's no need to do that, but you can find different donation links on my twitch page: www.twitch.tv/moqlnkn Scroll down to where it says "donate." I have no clue if Streamlabs tipping works anymore, by the way. I set that up years ago. By far the BEST way to support me is to bribe all your friends to watch me, too, so that I can get affiliated with twitch. But, again, there's no need to do that, since I have a degree.
7:40 Tested this myself, turns out the computer is "Just Blocking" or Insta Blocking as you put it. This videos were extremely helpful. Can't thank you enough.
IB doesn't make attacks air-blockable. Only FD does. However, it is possible that the dummy is doing both. I think that's still possible in this game, by inputting IB while holding two buttons. If it is, then it would let you block air-unblockable attacks, but would otherwise be very similar to regular blocking since FD and IB do opposite things to your blockstun. I can't find anything about "IFD" in the wiki, though.
I'm not an angel. I just like staring at things for extremely long amounts of time so that I can fully understand how they work. Also, Satan is an angel.
Nice, thanks for going over the basics. Excited to see more content for this game. I'd love to see character tutorials or combo tutorials or something.
Wow this video is super recent actually .. didn't expect that. Coming from DBFZ and got this game in Stream FG Sale, cause it has Rollback. I like the fact that system mechanics apply differently for some characters!
This video was great, thanks a ton! I couldnt figure out how to check if my combos were 'real', this was suuuper helpful! Would definitely watch guides for Strive too, if u ever make any! Great explanations :)
i understand how to Block, but i swear it almost Never works. it might be Because i play on the vita version, or maybe im Just that Bad, but ive only been able to Block enemy attacks when the game Feels like it. is there any other input i need to correctly block?? or is it specific timing??
I highly recommend NOT playing on a handheld device. Play on a console or PC - most people play on Steam - and plug in your router via an ethernet cable. This will reduce the amount of latency between you and your opponent, causing your inputs to register faster and/or for the opponent's animations to display more sharply. If that is not your issue, or if you exclusively play offline, then there are a few things that could be contributing to your inability to block. It could be a malfunction with your directional buttons. It could be delayed inputs because of the Vita's hardware limitations. You should also know that certain attacks must be blocked a certain way. "Low" attacks must be blocked while crouching, and "Overhead" attacks must be blocked while standing. A few attacks cannot be blocked, namely throws and a few rare unblockables. While jumping, you can't block any striking attacks the opponent does from the ground, unless you use Faultless Defense. You also cannot block while attacking; your character must be in a neutral position. Blocking does not require ANY timing. You just hold a direction, and your character will automatically block when attacked, if possible. Slashback and Instant Block require timing, but just regular blocking and Faultless Defense do not.
Nope. But you can put the first forward before the jump, then the second forward after. In numpad notation that's 6956, but most people do it normally with 9656 since it's the same speed.
Testament/Baiken/Zappa are the best Everyone else is okay ABA and Bridget suck The game is so crazy that experience and player skill is much more important than tiers, though. One of the best players in the US plays ABA-exclusively.
Training mode is useless if you don't know why you're there. So have a purpose, and then think of how to fulfill that purpose. Training mode exists to make fulfilling certain purposes more easily.
