These were my first models as a kid, way back when Toonami first started airing Wing. At first I thought they took the old molds from the 90s and put a price premium on them, but there's a lot more going on here, they look great!
After actually watching Gundam Wing and learning the significance of these 2, WHY ARE THEY P BANDAI???
all the new sword and blast impulse variants, which by the way is a main character suit, is pbandai, you cant question their logic anymore
Theyre p bandai because it cuts out the middleman and maximizes bandais profit.

haha, I did the same thing. Got these two, the leo with the weapon set, an extra leo and a maganac. Just need to fill out my collection with Deathscythe, Shenlong and the new RG Wing.
I hope that Bandai decides to release the Virgo or Taurus after they release the Shenlong.

I have been waiting for this review - yes! These are my favorite suits from GW because I'm a twin so I had to order them. They'll be my first attempt at air brushing gunpla, so we'll see how that goes. I'll practice on a Maganac first.
Nice to see a review of these, but I don't get the complaints about them looking too plain. This is already pretty true to how they looked in the TV show. They weren't very fancy and elaborate looking suits. Using all the stickers would've helped too. These are a massive upgrade from the old no grades from the 90s, so I'm just glad we're getting them at all.
Mecha is just talking about the aesthetics of the model kit, not the mobile suit itself.
There's a decent amount of Tallgeese stylings in these two which just makes me want an HGAC Tallgeese all the more. As a bonus; it would child's play to retool it into the Tallgeese 2 & 3. TG2 is just a recolour with a new mohawk but TG3 would need a new shield & cannon along with the mohawk/V-fin.
I would seriously get these two already if I wasn't sharing my living space with folks who don't like model kits, but it would take a long time for me to move out because of this pandemic going full force in our country right now.
My rants on personal life aside, the fact that these two kits look relatively plain gives them a whole lot of detailing potential. They could certainly become better-looking from waterslide decals to give them more surface personality. Also, fluorescent pink and fluorescent green markers (for Vayeate and Mercurius, respectively) make their eyes and weapon sights pop a lot more.
An insta-get for me... Provided they are still around by the time I can finally go back to living alone at my own pace.

Man these two suits were BADASS. When Trowa and Heero fight "Millardo" its so badass when Heero says "i have a harder time with space mines. We dont need the dolls. That white suit is mine"
the second guess for the use of the handle is correct, its used to hitch a ride since it has a bigger generator and longer uptime and for the mercurius to save energy for the planet defenser haha
I just finiahed assembling these. If you look at the plates, there are tabs where they are going to seperate the parts for reuse. Looks like we are getting HGAC Virgos in some form.
And whaddya know; an HGAC Virgo was just announced amongst a decent amount or other kits like the RG G-Self, Ver Ka Atlas, MG Exia 2.0 and an HGFC Devil Gundam.

goodness what a synchronicity, I just finish playing the SD Generations Cross Ray Map with the Raijin and Fujin fight versus the Wing Zero. The only time you see Quatro as a mad lad lol.
The wing series is pretty easy in that game and of course the story still doesn't make sense

I think the biggest things with these, they were more or less made as prototypes to test the weapons. So I think the more simple design of the suits was because it was more about the proof of concept over the look.

These are way better than the non grade. Alot has been improve unfortunately the polycaps pops out rotate with the arms but not big deal. Very good to customize. Thanks for the review Mecha Gaikotsu, I'll have waiting for a while now when this kit is on the market.
I just bought the No grade ones just mostly out of nostalgia (and I’ve always loved these suits because of their unique duality and intriguing weaponry) but… yeah going from HG kits to NG is extremely jarring
I just started building these kits yesterday! They're fun so far but the leg articulation is kind of a bummer. I'm glad I got them though--they both look great on stands and with Leos flanking them.
Virgo I & II share the same frame as Vayeate And Mercurius.
They can reuse the arms and feet, but the rest of the details are so different they'll need entirely new parts.
Just ordered one via P-Bandai Shopee at Japanese standard retail price. Cant wait to build them.

Just before I buy the kit, could someone say how the RG exia or quanta holds up over time. I've seen the review which was really positive but just wanted an opinion after multiple poses.

Most EW kits have already been made in HG, MG, and a few even in RG. It's nice to finally see the TV versions get something better than the crappy no grades from the 90s.
EW is alternate suits. We will never get EW in HGAC line. The HGAC is for Wing TV series. And if they make them the EW line will be separated HG line just like HG The Origin and HG Thunderbolts.

Sorry to hear that they aired Gundam Wing out of order, but now you can watch them in order. The only thing I will tell you without spoiling anything is that that both prototypes. One was made for close range combat and the other was maximum firepower. They were made to counter each other and both technologies were put into the Virgo units.
If they are the same kit just in different colors what about swapping parts between then??
I like the Mercurius´ gun so much, a shame this one never came up anywhere else, at least to my knowledge.

I built the hg barbatos lupus rex for my first kit and now when I look at other gundams like this the arms look small

I could be wrong but I think the alternate heads are from the episode they were introduced on, they were in the hangar while being worked on by the renegade scientists and they weren't finished yet.
They had at least one scene where Heero destroyed the mobile dolls that were accompanying himself and Trowa. During that scene they showed the face plate raise.

I remember playing Gundam Wing Endless Duel and being frustrated at the Mercurius fight, the moves with the Planet Defenders were cheap!
It drains meter yet you can still gain and maintain meter long enough to not get hurt once its up. So yeah it's busted

I kinda wish this would have had a standard release. I mean, did we really need p-bandai for these kits? I'm glad that they are out, if I can afford one I will def pick this up, but its dissapointing that they weren't just a regular release. Still great review!

Mechagaikotsu..i always watched your videos.. just for a change i know how you hate color accurate decals, try to put all the decals on the kit so we can all see how it was with or without color accurate decals side by side on split screen.. keep doing what your doing.:)

there raijin and fujin references lighting and wind gods the particle accelerator is a reference to fujins bag of wind and the beam shields are a reference to raijins drums .
I should buy that set for Pluses and Minuses. And customize it.
I've been thinking about getting this set but i wanna focus on the UC stuff before i do the AU stuff.
Also an HGAC Virgo was announced! Would've been nice to see the Aries first but i guess the Virgo shares ore parts with the Leo which cuts down on new toolings.

UK Toonami would for some reason buy and show a chunk of a series and then rotate back to show them all again before moving on with another chunk, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw Star as far as I remember were shown all the way through.
Weirdest was Tenchi Muyo, both times it was shown they had one series of Tenchi Muyo and then it would change to another series of Tenchi Muyo (Universe I think?) instead of continuing with the current one.
Probably it's only me who has witty idea to mix the parts colour,it still preorder at my region

well, runners already have suspicious gates arround the vayete gun parts, so there's a huge chance that your wish will be fullfilled :p problem is, regular mercurius and vayette doesnt seem to sell very well, so it's hard to say how bandai would react to this
Please do a review for the regular high grade astray red frame, I'm considering getting it but only hear mixed emotions about the kit but your's seem the most accurate!
You might have to be specific because there are two different red frames (maybe three I don’t know I don’t look at the frames that much anymore) but there’s an old red frame kit with single jointed elbows, and then theirs the red frame flight unit which has double jointed elbows. Apologize if you already knew that but I didn’t when I bought the old red frame instead of the flight unit version and I was disappointed with it.
Why not get the RG? Same scale and an excellent kit
I know this is an old post but go get 2013's HG Astray Flight Type. Its basically an improved HG from HG 1.0 released back in 2003..

It's the lower body not being broken up that makes them look off. Real grade color separation would have been amazing on these but that will never happen.
best gundam kits iv ever put together that didn't fell like they would fall apart are the 1/100 old MG burning and shinning gundam that require the use of screws and nuts (that are included) and the RG tallgeese ew
