I use a full chisel standard chain. No need for a special chain. You could also use a semi skip or full skip if you'd prefer. They just cut a bit rougher... but less teeth to sharpen

Do you use a regular blade for when you're splitting a log in two(ripping cut?). Any particular chain type that you recommend?
