Good morning guys and gals! Thank you so much for dropping in! I hope you all had a fun and safe Halloween and didn't encounter any more zombie chainsaws crawling out of the grave! I hope you enjoy my little repair on this Stihl MS 271 chainsaw! Today on my bench - Stihl 036 and a Echo CS 600P! Stay tuned all weekend long for a chainsaw repair marathon!! THANK YOU!
I love your utubes. I have three Stihl saws a 028 super a 170 and a 271. I do my own repairs when they need them. I am now 75 and do not do much cutting anymore. But I have learned a lot from your videos. I watch every one of your videos. You do a great job.
Just found your channel today and Subscribed immediately!!! Just had to say thank you so much!! A half hour after watching my Stihl is running again!!!!!!
One of my chainsaws is an MS 251 Wood Boss, that I don’t use often. Your channel is one of my favorites. I’ve learned procedures I’ve never done before!
Darn it Erica now I have to make a carb stand. I enjoy your methodical approach to diagnostics on these chainsaws. Your videos are definitely giving me tons of ideas and tips. Thank you.
Crystal balls are pretty handy for figuring out the real story on what owners did with equipment. But even more important is to use good crystal ball polish. I'm waiting on a tin of that myself from amazoon...8^) K-Tel and Ronco don't seem to sell it any more. Anyway, re the clutch needle bearing being shot - that thing was probably making a racket for a long time. Zero care by this owner I think. Cheers and thanks for a great video!
When you give the people what they want they'll show up! It's so nice to see your channel growing as quickly as it is. You'll be at 20K subs very soon I think. I just finished work on one of those HS45 clippers for a customer. It had a broken operator presence lever that I was able to JB Weld back together for her. Thanks as always for your great work and excellent camera angles and closeups❤ Pretty cool of Scott to send you one of those carburetor stands😉
You are Sherlock homes of chainsaws so you need to charge for being a detective and a machanic so you are very good at what you do thanks for the content God bless you and the family
Seems like videos that you show the surrounding area I see solar panels with electric lines in the background. Do you have lots of power outages where you use solar panels or are you selling back your excess power to the utility company. Love your videos, thanks for showing.
About customers telling what they did to it or, what happened I find they don't want to tell. But, if I tell them it will be cheaper if they do, some actually tell whet they did or what actually happened. Not sure if it is pride or thinking it will cheaper for some reason... Thank you for the upload!
Thank you so much for posting this excellent video. I'm surprised at the cost of a new carburetor. That's piracy! I suppose Stihl wants to price components so high that purchasing an entire new saw looks more sensible. You did wonderfully in diagnosing the problem and fixing it. I am learning from you.
Thank you for the video on this saw. I just subscribed as I have been appreciating your diagnosis and repairs of the various saws and issues. You have impressed upon me how important simple care and cleaning benefits to reduce wear on a chainsaw. Now to put it into practice. Thank you again.
Thanks for your comments and excellent wit. Sometimes you make me laugh out loud! Keep up the good videos, I love them! I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you could give the cost of these repairs to your customers, and the current price for a new saw that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
My MS 271 brand new wouldn’t idol and flooded easily to easily so back to the dealer it went . Now it runs right, my guess is the metering gasket was installed upside down
I wish you would post the repair cost. The way you're so meticulous, it has to be very expensive. That's a load of "in need of repair" saws! Good luck 🤞
Between you and The Greasy Shop Rag I'm getting Stih's and Husqvarna's down!! By the way, Scott's stand has a magnet on the back to hold you screws while you're working on the carb. I just got a Husqvarna 262 given to me also, can't wait to see your video on that one.
Yes, Typical Problems on an older saw.The Rubber parts get Hard or gummy, and the are leaking. What i think is that the saw is running a little bit lean on the L screw? For my opionion i takes too long back to idle speed, a typical sing of lean running, I could be wrong, please tell us what you think? Thanks for the good start in the Weekend and lovely Greetings from Germany.
Out of interest….did you also have to adjust the H & L settings on the carburettor using a tachometer or something of that nature to ensure correct mixer settings ?
Why people wont tell you what they have been at with their saw or other stuff its beyond me, if i could not fix it myself i would be keen to say what i had done, maybe im weird

Your statement about telling the shop what you've done applies to not just chainsaws. When I was a tech, people would drop off vehicles they had tinkered with. I love a challenge but come on.

Thanks 👍
After another 6 months of watching these videos we should all get chainsaw tech certificates 😄
I know, right?! I want to travel to Ontario and help her work on some of those saws to test my new knowledge.
Erica.... You are an outstanding teacher. I am literally taking notes during every one of your videos.🙌
Me too!
I haven't a clue about what you are doing but I do enjoy watching you, you explain things clearly without loud music just perfect
Another excellent diagnosis and repair! Thanks!
Poor tired Diaphragm. I love that carb stand, thanks for the video(as always),Erica!!!
Clearly you are a detective Erica! Nice work again! See you on the next one!
I would love to smell that fresh, morning forest air you showed at the start of the video.
Another great video and informative detective work.
Cheers
Just found your channel today and Subscribed immediately!!! Just had to say thank you so much!! A half hour after watching my Stihl is running again!!!!!!
That is amazing!! I am so glad to hear that!!
@marriedwithsmallengines I'm not kidding!!!!
Excellent job as usual..... so nice to following your work to find all faults and get them fixad.👏👏👏👏👏
Yup not knowing what they do before dropping it off can be a headache. Great repair 😊
One of my chainsaws is an MS 251 Wood Boss, that I don’t use often. Your channel is one of my favorites. I’ve learned procedures
I’ve never done before!
Another great video where you found the problem without the help of the "on order" crystal ball.
Erica, you are a chainsaw master. Nice work!
Love the defiant centre solar panel! "I will not conform and face the sunrise"😂
Glad nobody was hurt when the garage spring broke
Mystery solved! Lets Gooooooo! Nice job Erica!
Here in the states we would have to replace the limiter caps. Good job on the diagnosis.
Thank u ,Erica.I learn from every video.I told my wife how little i actually knew about saws other than my own.
Darn it Erica now I have to make a carb stand. I enjoy your methodical approach to diagnostics on these chainsaws. Your videos are definitely giving me tons of ideas and tips. Thank you.
Awesome video! Thanks for the help! I’m slowly becoming less dangerous!
Erica, C.E. (Chainsaw Examiner). Another case solved. Another chainsaw life saved.
Excellent ! Going to grease for the first time the clutch bearing now thanks to your instruction ( 12 Y.O. MS 261) . Stihl learning.
I wish I had a shop like that ,, I would live in it
The owner may have worked on the saw first before he gave it to you, but at least he didn't mess anything up.
I liked the peaceful
opening of your video...good job.

Great detective skills.
Nice diagnosis as always Erica, another great repair. 4 turns out on the jets maybe he had a mosquito problem.
That intro was gold, so peaceful ✌️
Awesome fix too, you sure are pro 👍🏼
Wonderfull repair and detective work! You are a super tech for these small engines, enjoyed the series.🐞
If only customer knew how much time/money could be saved - great video 👍👍
Another good analysis / diagnosis , Great video as always .
You are Sherlock homes of chainsaws so you need to charge for being a detective and a machanic so you are very good at what you do thanks for the content
God bless you and the family
Nice work Erica.
I like your place this farm boy could be happy there I have serious solar panel envy lol .
Seems like videos that you show the surrounding area I see solar panels with electric lines in the background. Do you have lots of power outages where you use solar panels or are you selling back your excess power to the utility company. Love your videos, thanks for showing.
I like your carb stand 😀
Awesome Job!
The knowledge about the fuel line is so important.
Detective work excellence
Another awesome video, great work thank you Erica

Nice Diagnosis 😮😀😊
Another good video ERICA and yes you are a detective the Nancy Drew of chainsaw repair 😊

Great workwomanship Erica! 👍👍👍

Thank you for subscribing! It means a lot to me!
I want to see that saw that’s been to a couple different shops but doesn’t run yet
Me too!
It has already been on the bench! It will air in the next week :)
Enjoy that coffee, best to be honest 😊
Great work thank you!
My ms 271 is also from 2013 and i run a per-mixed fuel but i still dump it out and run the carb dry
Thanks for your comments and excellent wit. Sometimes you make me laugh out loud! Keep up the good videos, I love them!
I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you could give the cost of these repairs to your customers, and the current price for a new saw that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Enjoyed the content,excellent video.enjoy the coffee.cheers
perfect work
Like your videos. I have learned alot
Awesome, thank you!
Girls own chainsaws too.
Erica your Halloween theme was excellent. A big hello from Ireland.
My Stihl dealer dealer told me that they don’t have time to rebuild carburetors. They replace them. That was two years ago, then it was $125.00.
Either they don't really know how to or there just chasing a sale..
Well at-least he didn’t say “ my buddy tried to get it running”.
😂
Excellent job as usual
My MS 271 brand new wouldn’t idol and flooded easily to easily so back to the dealer it went . Now it runs right, my guess is the metering gasket was installed upside down
It's a great idea to keep the chainsaw in the carrying case
I wish you would post the repair cost. The way you're so meticulous, it has to be very expensive. That's a load of "in need of repair" saws! Good luck 🤞
I can probably start incorporating that into my videos! :)

Customers Lie! Or at least don't come forward with the truth! "Just needs a tune up" they say, ya right!!
I have seen this many, many, many times in all my years working on chainsaws..
21:40 what is the part number for that carb tool? I like the tabs on the side so you know where you are turn-wise.
Just use a sharpie ken,on your favorite 🪛
I suspected that’s what you would find. That metering diagram was hard as a carp. Yeah, that fuel line isn’t long for this world…..
I love your videos but I don't know how you can work on a dirty saw like that my OCD goes crazy. my saw has to be clean before I start maintinance lol
Hi Erica 👋
I d like to have the husky 😊
The 036 getting pushed back in the queue 😮😢
The 036 was on the bench today! 😁
@@marriedwithsmallengines that's great news... looking forward to you getting into it Erica 👍
Do you have issues with the stihl bar oil cap not locking?
I don't know anything about small engines, but the gap of the original spark plug looked very tiny...
What do "Wood Boss" and "Farm Boss" stand for? I have 1987 024 "Wood Boss", and it's a sweet little saw :)
I think it stands for " I am the boss of the wood pile " Lol :)
@@marriedwithsmallengines :D Hehehehe
Is there a link to the carb holder?
What Stihl mid size saw is the best all around saw to have,???
MS 261
I'm here
Yah!! Glad your here!!
@marriedwithsmallengines Looks like very bad fuel mix, alot of carbon... Did you see my pix? And as I mentioned I ordered BG86 to my lineup...
@marriedwithsmallengines This was pretty messed up I'm glad you figured it out..
Out of interest….did you also have to adjust the H & L settings on the carburettor using a tachometer or something of that nature to ensure correct mixer settings ?
Thanks for the video! What fuel are you using? Stihl Motomix or self mixed gas? :)
Greetings from Germany
After months of absence from TH-cam, you are churning out the content. Is this typically a busy time of year for chainsaw repair in Ontario?
Yes, fall and winter is our “chainsaw season”
@12:40 Erica!
GREAT DIAGNOSIS ,AND WORK HAVE A GREAT DAY ,IM ABOUT TO TACKLE A BUDDYS HUSQVARNA 55 THAT HES HAD TROUBLES WITH LOL
Like it tight
Erica don't play ...she gets it fixed
Wow lots of problems with stihl
Is it a car detailers brush you are using around the cap of the bar oil?😂
Why people wont tell you what they have been at with their saw or other stuff its beyond me, if i could not fix it myself i would be keen to say what i had done, maybe im weird
