For me personally: BuzzFeed 2012-2017 was THE best in terms of content and personalities. Quinta, Justin, Andrew, Ashley, Eugene, Ned, Keith, Zach, Chris R, Curly, Shane, Ryan, Erin, and basically everyone there during that time will always have a special place in my heart.
I think quinta didn't have a bad experience because she treated the experience like the 9 to 5 job it was and didn't give all her best ideas to the company. She worked, earned the living she needed to grow and moved on.
Yes! Such a good point. It seems like a lot of people felt constrained creatively while Quinta was making moves and plans outside of what she understood to be her 9-5.

They definitely posted this to show that not everyone hates them when they leave and that people leave for normal reasons, too. They needed one on their channel like this to save face for the slew of others who had horrible experiences and vocalized them on the internet.

Not everybody leaves on bad terms. Some of those "Why I Left Buzzfeed" videos are kind of laughable because some of these former employees would say that it was their first job out of college and they didn't like how their employer put pressure on them to do well. That's literally every job on Earth. A lot of them never had real responsibility before joining Buzzfeed.
@@mgarriques949 it's not just about buzzfeeds opportunity to feed off her, right? At the end of the day, if she had an idea, she had BuzzFeed to back her up, she had them provide her with the resources to make her ideas come to a reality for the world to see. Sure, BuzzFeed made money off it. But isn't that what every person in a creative field is going through? So it's a give and take..she gave BuzzFeed some viral content, they gave her resources to make it happen, and at the end of the day, she built her portfolio using their financial resources to move on in life and build herself as a brand.

I thought it was just my tastes that changed but there was actually a different style of video for a time. Le sigh. Also - I'm so proud of Quinta! She's been so busy I actually cannot keep up with all the amazing things she's doing.
It's weird that this is actually on BuzzFeed but she's seriously so cool and definitely the former BuzzFeeder most headed towards mainstream success (like she has her own TV show! We stan!). I remember the good ole days so it's fun looking back on that and seeing how many people have found success and fulfillment on their own since. I hope that her book and TV show do well!
Sure, but most of the reasons in other videos boil down to "I don't know how copyright law works" or "I wasn't treated like special flower that my instagram followers tell me I am."
@@chasef89 actually what most of them complained about was being producers, writers, and talent for their own content but having no real creative control or ownership. Did they agree to it? Yes, but I'm sure it was heavily implied to them that it was just a technicality, because they all seemed to be shocked the first time their employer threatened them with "well we own this and you don't so......" Also, becuase it's rare for people who control THAT many aspects of it to not have any stake in it. Usually they'd be working on teams where there's be no expectation of getting partial rights because it's not really *yours*, it's a collaborative effort. I've also heard they didn't a cut of their own merch, which is super unusual. If they were working as reporters or producers of whatever, sure. But it's pretty rare for people to have merchandise with their own face on it and then be told they don't get any of it. Their pretty notorious for a toxic overbearing work environment that has left then hemorrhaging staff for years. You want to say that's them being difficult and wanting special treatment, but the fact that they are ALL leaving buzzfeed within the first couple years heavily implies that it's stopped being a coincidence at some point. It's especially bad becuase they work as TH-cam content creators. It's not like being an animator at a studio where you have to have a major distributor behind you to produce content. Because branching off is so easy, it's on BuzzFeed to incentivize them not to leave. That's capitalism baby.

i was trying to figure out where I recognized her from on abbott elementary, and gottdamn she left BuzzFeed and then rocketed to the stratosphere. hope she only goes up from here
She won 3 Emmy’s for her writing, acting, and directing of abbot elementary!!
I never thought Quinta's "Why I Left BuzzFeed" would be on BuzzFeed...
OMG! I watched BROKE all the time and loved it. Never knew that was Quinta, and look at her now!
All the episodes with Quinta in Buzzfeed were the BOMB!
Damn I used to love Buzzfeed when these people were on it.
Quinta is one of my favorite buzzfeed employees cause she’s funny af and doing what I want to do😭
oh my gosh i remember you 3!!! i used to watch you gguys all the time!!!!!!
Omg, I watched Abbott Elementary and couldn’t remember where I saw you! I loved these buzzfeed characters. Good job! You are funny!
And now she’s nominated for an Emmy! Go Quinta
Visiting here one year later, and her show Abbott Elementary is one stellar program! She's simply brilliant!!
She is one of my favorites and I miss this the BuzzFeed era!
Zack, Justin, and Quinta were my favorite OG BuzzFeed trio
I didn't realize how much I missed the old buzzfeed style until they started showing more of it. I thought it was just my tastes that changed but there was actually a different style of video for a time. Le sigh.
Also - I'm so proud of Quinta! She's been so busy I actually cannot keep up with all the amazing things she's doing.
And you won a Emmy!!!!!!! 🎉🎉
The way her and Kate have been besties since forever
This was so inspiring on how she worked her way up! I wonder if she still keeps in touch with her friends from Buzzfeed
She works with Justin Tan on Abbott Elementary. He is a writer there since it premiered.
Of course buzzfeed posts the good reasons why people left
Sure, but most of the reasons in other videos boil down to "I don't know how copyright law works" or "I wasn't treated like special flower that my instagram followers tell me I am."
But most people aren't leaving shows to create and star in a network television show. If she wasn't so successful, I'm sure she'd stay.
We missed you on the latest season on A Black Lady Sketch Show!
Love this woman in the Black Lady Sketch Show. 😂
😆👍🏾
I loves this era if buzzfeed all the people she mentioned were my go to videos literally can watch all of that now.
Man buzzfeed must really be hurting for views.
@@iihh517 how long have you been on the internet? 3 hours?
🤣
@@TearMyWorldFANTAGE 💀
@@TearMyWorldFANTAGE But they're right. It's not a nice thing to say! Just be nice to everyone and everything 🙂 I am going to start incorporating that into my day-to-day
